- 1987 was the last year for Surfers Paradise International Raceway before it was closed down.. Keith Williams sold the raceway in 1984.. I (Tim) have fond memories of this circuit, it was one of my favourites.. after Oran Park & Amaroo Park.. all sadly now housing estates.. Good to see this race again in one video, trust that you will enjoy the memory.. some great drives in this race.. Happy New Year to all our subscribers.. Race tape from the Colin Bond VHS collection,

Can you believe Neil Crompton - commentator at the ABC and on Channel 7 for 40 years and still going strong. It would be very hard to find a video of an Australian touring car race which does not have his voice (maybe anything on Channel 10?). And he was a pretty handy (and happy) Supercar driver too! Absolute legend.
Geez that JPS M3 was a gorgeous looking car!!!!!!
This was basically the first time that Jim Richards had a full blown factory spec M3 under him and it showed. Previously the cars had a lot of Aussie made substitute parts due to late delivery of BMW Motorsport parts from West Germany.
Thank for the upload I love watching the old CTTC races
Thanks again Super 100MPH, that first turn is crazy!

Stunning m3,no luck for commodore and skylines at their best, but nice cars and race though..
Great job, what happened to the track at Surfers Paradise International Raceway, was it demolished and used for housing or a new stadium or shopping centre or something"
La hizo aburrida Jim Richards . Gracias por el video
