Washington DC Area Buses 2001

  • Included is footage taken in the Summer of 2001 in Washington DC. Locales include the vicinity of Union Station, Silver Spring, Shady Grove, Farragut Square, Lafayette Square, Georgetown, and Arlington. Agencies include WMATA, Ride On, Dash, and PRTC. A number of vehicles represented are no longer active in these fleets, including 8700-9200, 9400, and 5000 series Flxibles, MAN Artics, and PRTC RTS and Eagle buses. Also included are endangered series such as 3700 Orion II's and 9600 series Orions.

    Now today: literally all these buses retired (Orion Vs still in service but are about to be retired)

    I still remember all the the bus numbers that I use to ride on the X2 lol. The line was right behind my house in far NE DC.The use to run from Lafayette Square to Seat Pleasant then the X2 was extended further out to Capital Hts. Them 80s where the days! I love this song too whats the name of it?🎉 Great video

    @bus3204 Excellent Video! I love those Flxible Coaches. Thanks for catching so many of them on video. The music is good too. I'd like to get a 40-foot Flxible Metro and covert it to an RV. The Flxible Coaches are my absolute favorite.

    @PMann9321 I remember I used to see those on the A^ all the time. All those old buses used to struggle up Wheeler Rd. and other hills...Lol

    LOL! If you're referring to the bus at 0:40, that's a 1983 MAN Articulated. The X2 was infamous for them.

    @Bus3204 yeah the H street line. They originally came from Germany and now that i live here, MAN, SETRA, NEOPLAN, and Mercedes Benz makes some great buses here. But I really miss the buses back in DC though

    these buses are retired now except the Orion V that still remains in service. It's being retired soon.

      The Orion Vs are pretty much gone now, unfortunately. :(

      Brayden Bachlott: Upadte: The Orion’s are back into service since their rebuilding divisions and they need spare buses. So expect to see the Orion’s staying longer

    In fact, the replacements for the MAN artics are all retired now while the newest Orion Vs in this video are still active.
