Thank you sunayanasarkar13, it is good to read a posting from someone who is in the know. When the British anti nautch movement tried to ban Indian Classical dance for being too lascivious, it was men who often dressed as women, performed, preserved and taught the traditions. Not only Odissi dancers but Kuchipudi dance as well. Indian Classical dance has arisen like the great Phoenix, with more students discovering their heritage thru the dance.
I wish samir who seems to be so gifted in all dance forms, would upload some postings of his dance to show us all how it shouls be done. At present all I see are comments from an armchair perspective..I guess those who can, dance; those who can't, constantly critcise.
@samirfouad1 Of course it is Odissi. Odissi has multiple forms, and Gotipua is one of them. You just do not happen to know it. In any case, definitions do not matter. It is a beautiful demonstration of the different styles within Odissi.
I agree with what you wrote Bellydanceshiva, I see a lot of posts by people who are not qualified to discuss the merits of Indian dance. Almost all of the classical dance forms have several different schools and variations and even different philosophies. Just because you are ignorant of the tradition of Gotipuas does not give you the right to say what they are doing is not Odissi dance.

Thank you, all the movements were easy to understand and lovely to see!
at the very begining, it seems as if there is a halo of light around the two little girls, and it makes the whole dance even more magnificent :)

This is not odissi dance, but Gotipua dance, and those are young boys. This is an old tradition ofOrissa state.
Sorry samirfouad1, this IS ODISSI, in EVERY sense of the word.
