@@sucreepark6260 Dude, they are ALL human. There's no aliens, "humanoids" and nothing of such kind in the [known] Dune universe. They are all descendants of Earth.
@@sucreepark6260 Every person in Dune is human, just separated through centuries in different planets and change though artificial inbreeding, genetic modification and etc.
The movie doesnt explain this, but when one of their laser guns hits a shield, it creates a feedback loop at both ends of the shot, basically setting off two nukes. So if laser guns are in play, NOBODY wants a shield on.
The effect is stated to be totally random in the books. It could cause a nuclear explosion where the laser impacts the shield. It could feedback and detonate within the lasgun. Or both. Or the laser beam could do nothing and just fizzle out where it hits the shield. You never know. Nobody wants to find out though. EDIT: The effect is *NOT* random. I remembered it wrong. There's one scene in the books that shows it. During the Harkonnen attack Duncan is fighting and with the Sadukar closing in he takes a gamble and shoots the Sadukar shields with a lasgun, causing a nuclear explosion on the Sadukar end. It was a complete toss up as to if The Sadukar, Duncan or both sides would have exploded. I was hoping for that scene because it shows how much Duncan was a badass.
The thing about dune is there isn't supposed to be any actual magic. All of Paul and the bene gesserit powers come through intense trainjng and genetic breeding. The bene gesserit have unlocked 100% of their bodies function, basically they jailbreaked the human body. Paul on the other hand is a result of thousands of years of crosbreeding for specific traits that make you more efficiently use the spice or something. That allows them to see the future more vividly when consuming the spice. (Spice gives future vision anyway when consumed in crazy amounts, but you usually get mutated, thats what the guild navigators are)
By the way guys, paul has to navigate to get to a future he wants, so basically he could still die based on his decisions. In the book there's many times where he could have died in the fight with feyd, but his death wouldn't have stopped the war anyway. So he decided to fight not knowing if he'd survive.
Maybe in the book, but in the movie, there's a clear clip of a vision after waking up from the juice where it shows the image of him stabbing feud, he saw it coming in the movies hence why allowing feud to stab him and get over confident coming in close so he can stab him with the blade still in him 🤷🏽♂️
@@xBeastAsBrox in the books its quite literally spelled that he cannod see his future past the fight with feud, which has happened multiple times before and means he might die during said event
Definitely. I be the reason why Frank Herbert wrote Dune Messiah so obvious with its message is because I bet even back then, some people believed Paul was your average chosen one.
A few things you might have not noticed /know: - "May thy knife chip and shatter" and the chest beating said/done by Paul when fighting with Feyd, Paul took it from Jamis (Dune 1). - When Feyd asked Paul "She's your pet?" when referring to Channi. Noticed that when the film first introduced Feyd, Feyd asked the three girls "Would you like some fresh meat my darlings?". Is because he treats them like pets. Hence when he saw Channi, he assumed she is Paul's "pet". - The worm nostrils (scene where Paul was riding the worm). Whenever the hook exposes the nostrils, it causes the worm to stay above surface and not dive. (sand getting into the nostrils irritates the worm)
@@firemaiden029 He played one of Charles Manson's guys in "Once upon a time in Hollywood" and played Elvis in the Baz Luhrmann Movie. He's no joke as an actor
Saw that movie in the theaters with the highest possible screen and sound possible and let me tell you every time a worm show up because of a Thumper or someone used the Voice Everyone Gets silenced and in fear. Because the seats and the walls vibrate with the sound waves, A Unique Experience in the scales of seeing The way of water and the sheer scale of creatures and places
Thats true but thats not the reason for the "No shields!" from the beggining. If you pay attention, they are being sniped with laser guns, which causes an almost nuclear explosion in contact with a shield. So the Harkonnens know that if they use a shield there, all of them would be vaporized in a second.
@@BarneyClot94 I don't actually think they were being sniped by Laserguns, the first couple who got hit were hit by maula pistols, and no Fremen are carrying lasers when they reappear after the fight. When Paul and Jessica are picked up by Chani and Stilgar and the end of the first movie, Chani has a maula pistol, so i think that's what they're using. The lasers you see being fired are the Harkonnens firing back at the Fremen positions, mostly out of panic because they can't see them I guess. You're right tho the reason he shouts no shields is because the Harkonnens are using laserguns and its just safer no one uses shields
@@Killerkwoi13 Interesting explanation and makes sense. I also thought it was because shields in the deep desert drive the worms into a killing frenzy, meaning the won't even stop attacking a mountainous outcrop.
YEEEEESSSS i was waiting for thissssss, so hyped! EDIT: Also in the beginning the harkonnen soldier told "No shields" because if a laser gun hits an active shield, the result is basically a nuclear explosion! This is never quite explained in the movies, but that is why everyone fights with a sword, since guns are useless and lasers create massive explosions!
A couple of things 1. The Harkonnen said no shields coz laser guns and shields explode when they hit one another and they didn’t know whether the Fremen were using them / plus they had laser guns so it’s just safer no to use them. Secondly shields attract worms hence why no one uses them in the desert not even the harvestors 2. Paul’s sister, Alia, is pre-born aka a fully matured BG reverend mother in an infant’s body, she can also hijack Jessica’s body briefly. The BG consider pre borns to be abominations and extremely dangerous. 3. Paul only takes Irulan’s hand in marriage for political reasons, dw he still loves Chani. In the book this is explained much better and Chani isn’t as independent as Zendaya’s portrayal but Denis changed it so Chani emphasised that Paul’s rise to power is not a good thing (albeit the only way for Paul and his family / friends to survive) 4. Feyd-Reutha is also a product of BG breeding and possesses some of the abilities that Paul does (which is why he has those visions and dreams about Lady Fenring). In the book he actually uses his foresight to find Seitch Tabr when none of the other Harkonnens ever could
33:48 In the book the blue scarf in Chani’s hair symbolizes that a Fremen woman just gave birth to a son. The director has said that in the movie it is a sign that Chani is in love with Paul. Watch where she places the scarf in the end.
For me that said she still loved Paul, but she morns the man he became, so I get the feeling they’ll have them get back together early enough in the film. I feel like the next movie isn’t going to have a drastic time jump, so they might play more on a tragic note depending on if they’re gonna try to add the contraceptive subplot. But maybe they might not go that route. They’ll probably use Irulan as a spy and maybe try to kill the baby. There’s a few avenues they could go down, but I feel like they could really make it tragic because of his visions, especially his visions of Chani
At the end of the movie the Great Houses came because the Baron sent a message saying that Arrakis was under Sardaukar attack. Also, the reason Feyd is so strong is because he was meant to be the father of the Kwisatz Haderach and Paul was supposed to be a girl and the mother - they're almost similar in power level, but Feyd didn't have a Bene Gesserit mom to train him, so he can't knowingly tap into that power like Paul does. It's the reason why Paul didn't forsee the attack on Sietch Tabr, one prescient can't see the actions of another, something that's central to the plot of the next movie.
1:20:52: Technically, both in the book and the films, Paul unites 3 houses(Atreides, Harkkonen and Corrino- through his political marriage to Princess Irulan), and with both the marriage, and defeat of Feyd, he sits on the throne; BUT because of the Bene Gessrit’s own doing, he leads no only the Fremen as the Mahdi/Lisan Al Gaib, but is also the Kwisatz Haderach. So in recap, by the end of Dune(book and film) Paul sits as the single most powerful person in the known universe, who not only has god-like powers of seeing the future and possible futures, and being the Massiah/Chosen One of two of the most powerful forces in all the human race (Bene Gesserit & Fremen), but also leads the top 3 powerful Houses in all of the Empire, WITH ALL THE RESOURCES THEREIN, all though less so with Harkkonen, definitely so with Atreides and Corrino.
Dune does a good job showing how dangerous religious fanaticism and messiah figures are. Also, I think the "there are no sides" line means regardless the bene gesserit wins
My biggest complaint about this movie is they never showed baby and toddler Alia. She is terrifying. In the third book that baby becomes the most terrifying person in the universe.
1:33:49 I think Paul could see all possibilities. There was a reality where Jamis taught Paul what it was to be a Fremen. There was one where he died too. Spice does crazy things.
The movie is over 2.5 hours long, and still every time the end credits hit, the widespread reaction is "damn it's over". That is what you get with incredible top notch filmmaking. 2.5 mesmerizing hours that is so well done that you are locked in and a part of the movie yourself. It's emotionally stirring when it ends because of how well it's done. Thanks for the reaction.
1:44:42 Love it that you also caught on that Paul isn’t himself anymore. Very few reactors so far view it that way. Whenever he (or his mother) speak it’s like their individual personality just isn’t there anymore.
Alia, Paul's sister, is already conscious and aware in the womb. She will be born with all the power of a full Reverend Mother. Im the womb, she can even take over Jessica's body for brief periods. We saw it once when Alia spoke to Paul and again at the last fight. That's why the Emperor's Bene Gesserit called her Abomination.
@@AveChristusRex789 That's how I interpreted it as well, especially since IIRC from the first film, only women are supposed to have the power of the voice. So a male using it on her would be seen as an abomination - something improper.
@@AveChristusRex789 Its not very clear in the movie, but in the book the reverend mother calls Alia aka the unborn sister an abomination. This is because she will be born with all the memories of previous reverend mothers and little to no self-identity. It is actually forbidden in the Bene Gesserit to undergo rites to become a reverend mother for this very reason. It's why the Fremen rev mother also says "what have we done" when Jessica drank the water of life. So essentially she will be born containing multitudes of lifetimes of knowledge and memories from birth... enough to drive one mad.
@@Sneeeeeee The issue is that the unborn child doesn't have time to develop her own surety of self to defend all the ancestral personalities, so instead of carefully only accessing the female side like a true bene gesserit reverend mother would, alia got access to both, making her go insane in the womb since the most prominent ancestral personality is the baron vladamir.
Dude Rock, that was an excellent callout on Stilgar's chanting immediately after Paul won the dual. The hypeman for the optics was so important. Even better that the hypeman was a true believer. Cheers!
1:23:35 the great houses do not come to free the emperor, the baron send messages to the great houses saying the emperor was attacking dune, they came to fight the emperor if necessary.
I’m 45 years old but I will always watch these guys react to the stuff I love because I end up laughing out loud too many times. Love you guys love this story! Read the books after it will BLOW YOUR MIND!
"I thought the people in his memories were gonna hijack him." Then the very next scene after he said that it shows Alia lol. You may be more right than you thought in a way
It's played way down in the movies, but when Feyd kissed his uncle, that's a power move. All the aristocrats are bi as hell in the book, the Baron is no exception. Feyd is young and beautiful, and he knows that is his uncle's weakness.
its no shields because the laser weapons work off of the same tech and when they link it ends up with a nuke level explosion if they want to use shields they all have to use swords only just in case the fremin dont ever use the shields due to the worms and how they react to it but likewise if you want to shoot them you have to lower the shields
One thing that they left out of this adaptation which I think was important was the role of the Spacing Guild. In this world, power is really held by three organizations, the Great Houses of the Landsraad, the Emperor, and the Spacing Guild (which is supposed to be independent and unbiased). Everyone is truly at the mercy of the Spacing Guild since they have a monopoly on interstellar travel, however, the one lever (as the Bene Gesserit would put it) that can be used to control the Spacing Guild is access to spice since they cannot navigate without it. This makes Paul the most powerful emperor ever since he is the first to control the Spacing Guild and ultimately the movement of the other Great Houses.
"I don't think he's that bad?" And compare him 1 second later to Daemon Targaryen. He is not AT ALL like Fyed Rautha. Daemon is a gray character, one of the best. He’s not JUST an evil guy doing evil shit. He also loves and cares about (some of) his family. He is more human than Fyed. For all of his flaws and negative traits Daemon really loved his brother and never rebelled against him or Rhaenyra. Damn girl don't do that to Daemon.
@@YaBoyRockLee Just finished, I'd be surprised if anyone does a better reaction to this film than yours. This was fire... Never heard of this channel before this but I gotta sub just based on this reaction. Well done...
@@YaBoyRockLee Also the reason Paul and Jessica were so different after the water of life is that it awakens the one who drinks it to the memories of all the Bene Gesserit that came before, like a collective consciosness, so they know everything the Bene Gesserit ever knew. It allows them to play the long game better, but also it's hard not to lose who you were before.

I always enjoy y'all. You're a reaction and commentary channel. That's why we watch y'all. Most of us appreciate you for what you do and how you do it! Are y'all planning on watching Dune Prophecy when it drops on Max? I hope you do!
my peoplessssss 🔥 so happy to see how quick y’all got this out edit: y’all wrong for that background pic though lmao i couldn’t see shit during the darker scenes 😭😭
Remember, shields can not be used in the desert. It attracts worms. The Fremen are as ruthless as any other violent group, so what they did to the Sardaukar is very befitting. The hooks expose the worm's sensitive bits, so they roll to get at that area to the top. That's how riders get up to the point they can throw the lines. Jessica is talking with her daughter in utero, who is also a Reverend Mother. What happened is a huge no-no: pregnant women are forbidden from becoming Reverend Mothers. As was said in the previous film, the Bene Gesserit been working in the shadows for thousands of years. The homeworld of the Harkaunans have a different atmosphere. It's not as earth-like as the other planets you've seen. It makes them all look like uncooked sausages. All of the men that Feyd fought were the vestiges of the Atreides house. That said, the one that wasn't drugged was Lanville, who was a lieutenant whom you met in the first film. I'll probably add a bit more. When the emperor showed up, the Barron ordered a call to the great houses, stating the Sardaukar was attacking Arrakis. If you think about it, he was able to do what the Atreides could not. When Paul said what he did about marrying Irulan, if you recall, he also said it to Liet-Kynes. The fight between Feyd and Paul was similar to the practice fight in the first film, when Gurney made the comment of them being joined in death, when Paul didn't notice the threat. Leto didn't marry Jessica either, so there isn't an issue there, culturally. The issue is that Paul is behaving, not like a Fremen, but a Duke. Chani said he'd always have her if hey stayed himself. You know when that changed.
@1:28:00 Notice how this is exactly like the 1st fight we see Paul do in the 1st movie: in his practice fight against Gurney, when they get each other with their blade. Now here, against Feyd, Paul basically does what Gurney did to him, and gets his opponent in the same spot.
@1:33:45 That confusion is on purpose...Part of the whole point is the foolishness of the Bene Gesserit. They can look backward (the past) & want a superbeing capable of looking forwards. What they misunderstand about time is that the future is constantly changing, because of people's choices. So, Paul's visions are SUPPOSED to be confusing, because they are possible futures he keeps seeing. What is so terrifying, of course, is that in just about all of them, no matter their variations, all these futures he keeps seeing end in billions of dead across the universe, because of his choices.
Jessica was trained her whole life, she has the mental strength and maturity to deal with centuries of memories and trauma of all the past reverend mothers. Alia received the same memories and trauma but without training or the maturity to process them. Alia is at risk of "abomination", being consumed by all the past memories and personalities so they you lose who you are and go wildly out of control. Yes...Alia is going to be a problem.
A Fun thing about the fight that everyone missed is that Paul saw it, He saw how he won and it's with the blade of the emperor plunged into the chest of his enemy and how does he get that said blade? He lets himself get stabbed by it, making his opponent confident while setting the line to win because everyone is right where he wants them to be.
additionally, he might be looking at Chani during the fight whenever he got beat like "I'm doing this for us... I wouldn't force you to believe but you can see it in front of you. It is my burden." subtext op.
The non-drugged Atreides man Feyd fights, is actually (1) the stunt coordinator on both movies & (2) seen in part one, as the Atreides commander leading the first defensive assault in the palace steps against the night attack from Harkonnen.
"you guys won't shut up" What's the point of a reaction if the reactors don't talk about the thing they are reacting too? Though this complaint is applicable if the reactors spend more time reading chat or their phone than watching the film, this isn't the case here.
Rabban was never it. He was always covered by uncle's wealth and the tsunami wave of other soldiers crashing over their enemies. He's a coward and a dummy and not aware of strategy. He yelled and employed brute force and while that may work in certain situations, it doesn't across the board, so that guy got a tracheotomy in the field
1:27:16: also all of this from the start of the fight and all the way to the end, hits different, when you realize, Paul saw this exactly how it was before hand…. EXACTLY HOW IT WAS…😮
Again, Paul sees all outcomes, the injuries sustained was chosen by him in the end fight scene perhaps self-hatred. (I just had a thought was this vision seen in part 1 of Dune?)
Can i ask. Why are you explaining this? Its the second time i read it lol. One was condescending. What part of the video was someone confused. Lol. I just don’t remember. This explanation sounds obvious , but obviously someone said something in the video to warrant these corrections haha
for context abour gurney's connection with rabban is that gurney was a slave in harkonnen's world, he endured the torture and labor even her sister got worse than him (anything above plus sexual assault and abused) the scar on his face was from rabban's whip, and later on they killed his entire family, and then atreided freed a sector/planet where gurney was in and he later swore loyalty to leto atreides as for why rabban is never "him", well hes evil and sadistic, he only know how to rule with fear but hes never a good fighter at all, hes like a scavenger like in part one where the atreides already gave up then he started to beheaded all of em
I haven't read the books (yet), but I interpreted the final fight as being a choice by Paul (since he now can see different diverging paths of the future and all) to allow himself to get stabbed so that he could get close enough to do the same stabbing attack that Feyd-Rautha did in that colosseum scene.
It's never explicitly stated anywhere, but the ramifications of the shield wall are significant, took me a while before I realized the significance of its destruction. The wall protects the plateau from storms and worms, meaning all northern settlements and cities don't have to worry about either. Neither of these things bother the Fremen at all, it's how Paul returns power and control to the Fremen, all off world people can only survive in the cities, and any who are enemies have nowhere to go now

"climb" is common word for pilots to get to higher altitude
Yup
The thing about dune is there isn't supposed to be any actual magic. All of Paul and the bene gesserit powers come through intense trainjng and genetic breeding. The bene gesserit have unlocked 100% of their bodies function, basically they jailbreaked the human body. Paul on the other hand is a result of thousands of years of crosbreeding for specific traits that make you more efficiently use the spice or something. That allows them to see the future more vividly when consuming the spice. (Spice gives future vision anyway when consumed in crazy amounts, but you usually get mutated, thats what the guild navigators are)

Yea, to save all of humanity.

well in the book the path that paul chosen was the better one
any other path would have had more than 61 billion death
Is it so hard for y’all to stop spoiling?
Remember Pauls words “she’ll come to understand”. Dont worry about Chani
This is the type of person that Dune Messiah was written for.
'Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.'
Definitely. I be the reason why Frank Herbert wrote Dune Messiah so obvious with its message is because I bet even back then, some people believed Paul was your average chosen one.

A few things you might have not noticed /know:
- "May thy knife chip and shatter" and the chest beating said/done by Paul when fighting with Feyd, Paul took it from Jamis (Dune 1).
The sister will never betray Paul. She loves her brother. She'll always help him. Personally, I trust her more than the mother.
If Denis eventually makes the fourth Dune movie, you'll find "betray" is a...very loose word here.
There's a price to have all genetic memories of your forebears in your mind
One has to hope that those personalities remain dormant.
I really hope she will not betray him
The question isn't if Alia (Paul's sister) betrays him "she" won't.
The "other {voices} " in her mind..?

Shield tech drives worms insane, cant use them in the desert.
@@rickymartin4457 id say it's safe to say it's a little of column A and B.
In addition, active shields attract worms and drive them into a frenzy.
A couple of things
1. The Harkonnen said no shields coz laser guns and shields explode when they hit one another and they didn’t know whether the Fremen were using them / plus they had laser guns so it’s just safer no to use them. Secondly shields attract worms hence why no one uses them in the desert not even the harvestors
In the book this is explained much better and Chani isn’t as independent as Zendaya’s portrayal but Denis changed it so Chani emphasised that Paul’s rise to power is not a good thing (albeit the only way for Paul and his family / friends to survive)
4. Feyd-Reutha is also a product of BG breeding and possesses some of the abilities that Paul does (which is why he has those visions and dreams about Lady Fenring). In the book he actually uses his foresight to find Seitch Tabr when none of the other Harkonnens ever could
"what he is doing is the path to peace though"

“The path to peace” 💀
Paul wasn’t TOO confident. He knew he had to take those stabs to get the “narrow way through”.
The sight of Fremen loading into Sardaukar space ships to fight for the first time off-planet is so chilling as a book fan

Just remember that Paul’s mom and dad were not married.
Saw this in a Dolby theater. It was a great experience. The scene where he learns to control the sandworm was breathtaking being there to watch it.
I thought the Emperor’s bene gesserit called Paul the abomination? That was directly after he shouted “silence” at her
@@AveChristusRex789 she did idk what this guy on about
@@AveChristusRex789
That's how I interpreted it as well, especially since IIRC from the first film, only women are supposed to have the power of the voice.

It's played way down in the movies, but when Feyd kissed his uncle, that's a power move. All the aristocrats are bi as hell in the book, the Baron is no exception. Feyd is young and beautiful, and he knows that is his uncle's weakness.
28:05 That was a wild statement 😂😂
its no shields because the laser weapons work off of the same tech and when they link it ends up with a nuke level explosion if they want to use shields they all have to use swords only just in case
the fremin dont ever use the shields due to the worms and how they react to it but likewise if you want to shoot them you have to lower the shields
When Rock D Lee pulls out his saber you know he's too hyped 😂

tthe message sent to the great houses was that arrakis is under attack by the emperor that is why the great houses arrived, not to free the emperor.
Harkonnen arena scene with Feyd >
Your brother attacks the Great Houses...The Holy War begins!
16:25 The wroms produce spice I think, that is why they are sacred.
Brilliant reaction! You guys were on top of it. Great job.
Thanks so much!!
They dont use shields cause if a shield and a laser conect they go big boom

Though this complaint is applicable if the reactors spend more time reading chat or their phone than watching the film, this isn't the case here.
Everyone could use a hype man like Stilgar.

Those black ‘demon’ things you referred to during the colosseum fight are bull fighting picadores, Harkonnen style

I hope the spacing guild and space navigators are major players in the next film that would be awesome
for context abour gurney's connection with rabban is that gurney was a slave in harkonnen's world, he endured the torture and labor even her sister got worse than him (anything above plus sexual assault and abused) the scar on his face was from rabban's whip, and later on they killed his entire family, and then atreided freed a sector/planet where gurney was in and he later swore loyalty to leto atreides
as for why rabban is never "him", well hes evil and sadistic, he only know how to rule with fear but hes never a good fighter at all, hes like a scavenger like in part one where the atreides already gave up then he started to beheaded all of em
