A little exercise in what you can do when you throw some conventions out the window 😁!Much thanks to Blizzard and Overwatch 2 for the collaboration. This was my favorite project of the year!!! 🤩
Any tips for someone who is lightly color blind in the green yellow and red area? I never know what colors to use for skintones and i can't come up with a workaround.
@@C.S.M.Hageroth Hey, I know you wanna hear from him and not some stranger on the internet, but I thought I'd pitch in with something I heard him say once. He mentioned in a video (I can't recall for certain which one, but maybe the recent god of war one) that there's "no such thing as a skin tone". He explains that color isn't what makes skin look like skin, but rather the texture, translucency, etc. meaning that you can use whatever color you want and if approached with the right texture, it'll look like skin. So maybe one day, even if just as a fun one-off exercise, you could test out doing skin with "unnatural" colors that work for you while focusing on getting the texture right. I'm not certain if 'texture' is the most optimal word, but I hope it gets the message across. It's always more joyful to adapt a painting style to what naturally works for you, rather than forcing yourself to struggle with something just to fit in a conventional box. Hope that helps and happy painting!
@@4chopchop Thanks a lot for taking the time to comment. It is true what you say but this way I can never paint a portrait that doesn't look like the blue man group or some comic book figure oder black and white painting. But I guess I will stick to that then. Thank you. 😁
@@C.S.M.Hageroth You have a fair point. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. But maybe researching workarounds for this slight color blindness in areas that don't specifically have anything to do with art could broaden the amount of useful information you find. Then you could work on finding ways to translate that to your art, perhaps through some fun personal experimentation and a good amount of trial and error. I wish you all the best on your art journey.
@@4chopchop Thank you very much. 🙂 I think it will come down to know what colors to mix in what proportion to figure ist out with the help of somebody that can see them the right way. 😅
i wold like to see you doing some art remakes, like that paint that you showed to us, but in your style today, with all the knowledge that you got
Cool idea!
This, please!
It is already 90% copied art.
I think the amazing effect of digital images is that they are often backlit. You don't see color-correct images that are backlit in real life, and it is something we need to explore more.
Of course you see...Movies explore this technique before even CGI was invented
Brilliant! Your professionalism and experience backs up your imagination and love of colour. At least, that's how I see it.
Thank you! Cheers! 😊
I bet it looks even more breathtaking in real life. I could never capture the reflective nature of lighter pigments with camera when IRL it was just gorgeous and glowing
Alpay!!! This is REALLY EPIC. Wow
definitely please continue - your characters are so strong, a visual delight. Maybe once you will do a pure landscape painting
I'm half way through and just need to comment on his brush mastery. This is not an overnight thing. You can see this guy has put some serious hours into his craft!
Wow, every square centimeter has something interesting, the use of light and all the transitions, the sharp edges, and the way everything comes together in the end, all that makes up a painting that you could stare at for hours going allover the details.
i can't help but every time i see your final piece i bite my lip.İt amazes me that a human being can do this and it kinda gives me hope because if a human can do this, with absolute hard work,i can do it too.Thank you for being inspirational!
I think this is one of your best videos because it has everything in it: a story and your personality (your first oil painting), professional know-how, a delightful subject and theme from game design, good shots/cuts and a pleasant voice. One would assume an artist primarily sells their artistry itself, but that has become a byproduct here. You've simply done a lot right here - respect.
Wow, thank you so much 😊!!! Hearing that really makes my day!
Awesome!! Your brush control is really stable. I have really shaky hands. I've been standing back more and using longer brushes. Also, I've always wondered how to paint gold, and you are absolutely right. The key is understanding all of the surrounding colors to the area that is giving off reflective light. Finally, I noticed that to achieve digital artwork besides the lighting, the paint wasn't overlapped. It's really clean and smooth and not overworked or too mixed. It's probably due to blocking and not mixing the color on the canvas. Thank you for the video, and well done!👌
I LOVE this painting! I love painting dramatic characters like these as well. Love, love, love your work and your videos! I love your narration, the editing, and as an illustrator myself, I absolutely love and vibe with your thought process and painting style. I'm a huge fan! Thanks for sharing your self and your beautiful gift with us.
😍😍😍
Man, your understanding how light interacts with metal is amazing.
How is that mini painting video going along? Because I know you would absolutely crush it.
When your subscriber’s eyes are squinting at the bright places in the painting, you know know you’ve done a great job!👏🤩
Incredible result and thank you for showing the comparison to your earlier work - gives us all hope
Love the light on this one! and as a watercolor artist, when u used the white of the canvas to get that really glowy light is just aweeeessoooooomeee! Love ur work. More of this please ❤❤❤
Incredible. The way you built the music up at the and and then pulled all the tape was so sick man.
Great Painting.
The lightning effect and the paint work on the metal looks mindblowing.
I would like to see you draw Genji as he was the character who made me dive into Overwatch.
I know I say this every goddamn time, but holy shit Alpay.. You are seriously the best. This looks incredible!
your first painting is 1 hundred times better than my painting now
Yes, more like this. Incredible.
Your paintings just get better and better. When I see that you upload a new video I save it for Saturday afternoon with a sweet black coffee. Best afternoon ever!
This was amazing! I love how you step out of your boundaries!! You end up learning something new--and making a masterpiece!
Absolutely amazing art work!!!
Oh my Goooood! I have no words! Absolutely incredible and stunning!
Super amazing job as usual- she has some serious shine!! I also love you sharing your first oil painting!
Amazing work! Thanks for sharing your process with us.
I love the meshing of disciplines. I like that you express that art is everything, and however you get there it seems is ok, and IMO, art is anything and everything.
Incredible, Alpay! It's jaw dropping.
Amazing!!! I would never attempt this piece in oil, I'd go straight to acrylic and spray paints and lots of masking. The fact that you went full oil on this is so impressive!!!! I'm in awe!!!
I'm so glad that I watched this video. The work that you create is really something special. ✨️
This painting and the videography is incredible! 🤯
They actually put this video in the launcher for the game
This is an amazing painting 🔥🔥🔥 really love your work
ich liebe es immer zu sehen wie methodisch du dir deine Kompositionen und entsprechenden Bilder erarbeitest. Inspiriert jedes mal aufs Neue!

Thanks a ton!
stunning piece of work.
Love it!!!
Yes! I absolutely want to see more!
This was awesome. And very educational too! Thanks
Superb!! I never imagined that it is possible to make shiny materials with traditional painting.
Great Job!
Wowwww this is so damn good!!🔥🔥🔥
Wish you would do a video on your current approach to determining your color palette - not so much the tubes of color, but more the colors you actually mix and apply and why you pick those. We know the colors that are in the tube matter as a starting point, but your color theory is very pleasing and would help aspiring artists with a deeper understanding of something there aren't many good videos on.
Why you ask YT viewers what to paint next when you've just produced another outstanding piece of art work? It's like asking a child what candy they want when they all look amazing. We love them all and the fact you talk through the insights and broader concepts. Creating light, and life like vibrance, is difficult. Keep up the explanations and we, the YT viewer, will love it.
so we comment and he gets engagement, he still gonna do what he wants hehe
Oh, this was a great learning video. Thanks for talking about light, fascinating.
Great work the glow is amazing
That is so freaking cool! 🤩Can’t wait to see more digital stuff in traditional mediums, as it is such a cool process to watch!
Still patiently waitin’ for the Gandalf painting tho 😏
Awesome love it mate. Your style is so unique!! This is beautiful well done.
Definitely one of my favorite artists ! Amazing
This looks incredible, excellent work!
Awesome! This is the type of painting that begs for a series, so that you have the opportunity to utilize the same techniques with different color combinations. I'd love to see it!

Absolutely Amazing drawing

This is freaking awesome
Alpe, while your art is truly flawless, I must say I enjoy your videos most for what you say. Clearly a lot of time and effort goes into writing a well thought out script. It makes your videos feel educational and inspirational and watching you paint is just the added treat.
Also. I have lately found myself saying to people "have a good one" 😝
Awesome you're such a great mentor sir
Absolutely crazy

Wow this painting is so gorgeous, you did an amazing job! I would love to see more cross-over work! Bringing these cool characters to life with your oil painting style is so interesting and beaufitul to look at. I hope to see more, any characters from Dragon Age, The Witcher, Legend of Zelda, World of Warcraft...to name some personal faves :)
I totally agree 😊
Hey there Alpay. Regardless of the featured painting, I'd love to hear how you started as a professional artist. Perhaps your thoughts for others that would like to transition from a hobbyist as well. Keep 'em coming!
Whaaaaaa! So good!!😮
Brilliant!
I've been using RUclips tutorials for help/inspiration/anything for about 15 years, and I'd say after this first video watch- I put the quality of the video and your dialog up there with Paint Coach and TenHundred. I will be subscribing ❤️🎨
I look forward to your videos. They/you inspire me more than you know. God bless
Alpay and Blizzard - Thank you for the amazing artwork, game, and battle pass! I really enjoy what you're doing, Alpay. Thank you for helping to break down the barriers of what "real artists" are and do.
My pleasure! 😊
That’s pretty damn cool! I have now idea how anyone guessed what it what it was on your Instagram though.
Some people did 😅
