    Thanks for the shout out mate. I'm glad you like the watch as much as I do. I completely agree that this is the best budget pilot watch out there. Their quartz pilot chronograph is also really good too. It's a bit smaller too, for those who think this is a bit big for them. I have a review of that on my channel too. Great review mate.

      Thanks buddy! Credit where it's due - I wouldn't have known this piece existed if it wasn't for your review. I really hope they use that 40mm chrono case and make smaller versions of these automatics. They'd practically win the AliExpress flieger game.

      Out of curiosity, do either of you have experience with the Hong Kong microbrand Ticino and their fliegers? They're pretty hard to find nowadays, but it'd be interested in a comparison between this, Ticino, Tisell, Steeldive, Citizen Avion, etc.

    I have the 40mm PT5000 version and it’s one of best watches I own. The lume doesn’t seem that impressive at first but I am yet to pick it up in the middle of the night and not be able to read it. The 40mm case is the perfect size for me and the hi beat movement and domed sapphire punch way above its price point. It looks great on just about any trap and I managed to get an oyster-style 20mm bracelet to fit nicely and the legibility is welcome to my old eyes.

    Escapement Time also sell these with the PT5000 movement which is Chinese (Hong Kong?) version of the ETA2824-2 or Sellita ST200. They're about US$70 more expensive but could be worth it if you're after something with a slightly higher beat rate. Brilliant review - subscribed.

    Got mine a few days ago. Very nice watch. High quality materials.
    The alleged NH35 Seiko movement inside has no adjustments and has unbalanced advance/delay in the 6 positions.
    It has delay in the 2 critical positions in which the watch is most of the time : 6 up and 9 up. Position 6 up delay is - 8 seconds.Position 9 up delay is - 48 seconds. That’s too much!. I’ll have to fix that if possible. I wonder if I have a Japan NH35 or a Malaysia NH35 inside. The average delay is around - 10 seconds with the advance of the other positions. During the night I put the watch in 3 up position that has a 12 seconds advance to catch-up.
    Very nice and good looking watch anyway.

      Thanks so much for watching and sharing your experience! That's very erratic indeed. I've come to expect positional variance like that from Seiko movements, even my 6R15D is very erratic in different positions. Hope you managed to tune yours to better numbers.

    Great review. The lettering is too thick, but then again, it is needed for the application of the lume. Something is off about this watch. Technically it has some robust components and finishes for the price. I hope they didn’t cheapen out and put in a subpar movement, because from this review, this watch is true bargain for a Flieger model.

    • @WristWatching
      @WristWatching  Год назад +1

      Since this review, they've discontinued this model with the NH35 movement. They've replaced the movement with the PT5000. It's a higher beat movement, but I'm not sure about its robustness compared to the trusty NH35. They also made a price hike with that movement change.

  • @davowulf3999

    I have this watch. I hated the plane logo on the back - but it can be easily removed. My watchmaker said that all he did was to removed the caseback - which was very tight - and applied heat. The airplane logo fell off, apparently it was a separate piece of metal just glued onto the caseback. Then I had the caseback engraved with the same style as a Laco Flieger, because in my view the only "original" thing about a flieger from Stowa or Laco is the name and in fact the size of the watch and movement do not mimic the original. My engraving has the exact specs of this watch in the same style print as the 1940's B-UHR. And I replaced the strap with a German one in the B-UHR style that had more distance so no unnecessary wear on the strap.
    My complaint about the watch is that I feel that the "tail" of the second hand is too long, I feel that the tail of the second hand should not obscure the hour numbers on the inner ring. The answer to that is the long second hand from the Yobokies Big Flight hand set.
    So I spent another 150 some odd dollars on this, still cheaper than Laco, and I had way more fun than simply buying a Laco off the shelf.

    • @WristWatching
      @WristWatching  2 года назад

      Interesting! I did not know the plane logo could be removed. Sounds like you had a lot of fun with your Escapement Time, that's what I love about this hobby. You don't really need to spend thousands of dollars on a watch to get enjoyment out of it. Thanks for watching!

    Nice review. I want a flieger but not enough to spend too much. This could be perfect. The size will likely suit my 7.9" wrist easily enough. If that is rust, it's a bit of a worry seeing as it's a mechanical movement! 🙂 But at the price it's probably worth the risk. It's still on sale for 86 euros so I might get one. Appreciate the review!

      This would definitely work great for your wrist size. I was in the same boat too, really wanted a flieger but didn't want to spend so much on a Stowa or Laco.
