Just picked one of these up yesterday for $142+tax from direct tools factory outlet in greenville sc, it was a factory blemish but it still comes with a 5 year warranty. Tried it out for a few seconds and its WAY better than my old corded one (and no more cut extension cords).
Great! I just bought the model you’re using. Great deal at only $160 at Home Depot on sale. Already have Ryobi blower and weed whacker. Have three batteries. I’m set!
Great trimmer i srill have it to this day and it does the job well. Huge hedges like the video I wouldn’t do it again lol but it was a great test run which it did the job. Smaller bushes, hedges etc works like a charm for a great price and battery operated.
Thanks for writing me Ortho Sprayer is on the way to your home, please check your email. Info is attached enjoy my friend. Please let me know when you receive the item!
Hey glad you enjoy the video. Late response as I’m fighting covid for the first time it’s been kicking my ass today feeling a tiny bit better. Definitely a bargain trimmer for a homeowner it will get the job done.
It keeps the clipped leaves from falling to the other side basically. Since I was going to rake I didn’t use it but it works as a guard should I have used it on smaller hedges.
I am a Ryobi fan, and I have been in the market for a hedge trimmer to replace my Kobalt hedge trimmer. I already have several 40V Ryobi garden power tools. My main concern is the weight because I do a LOT of hedge trimming. I went from a Gas to Battery operated and I do agree, the weight reduction is a warm welcome. After reading several reviews and watching your videos, I think I am going to pull the trigger on the 18V Whisper series Ryobi hedge trimmer because of the overall lightness. Many have complimented the 18V for its surprising (mediocre) performance but most importantly its lightness. The 40V adds significant weight to the hedge trimmer. Although, if I go with the 40V Ryobi hedge trimmer, I can get away with just purchasing the tool only... Decisions, decisions, Damn!
Tough one. I can say this if there is a 40V version of the tool you are looking for lawn and garden. Just go with that. 18volt for my own personal lawn has let me down and not enough power to tackle 99% of the jobs. However the 40volt tools plenty of power. And and also brushless. Not the normal stuff those break or overheat to easy.
@@DanTheLawnMan Thank you for your input. I did end up getting the 18V and just got done testing it. Absolutely perfect for my needs. The trimmer did extremely well and exceeded my expectations. In the event I need extra power for tuff branches, I do have the Ryobi 40V Expand-It hedge trimmer I use mainly for tall shrubs, and for those extremely thick tree branches, I also have the Ryobi Expand-it Pole chainsaw. 😎 The 18V serves me very well for smaller shrubs around the house.
I own one and I agree with everything you've said except that it would be good for homeowners. IMHO the 24" would better and I will get one to supplement the 26". The thing is too heavy with a 4MHA and higher battery and if you use a heavier battery with that 26" length it is just too cumbersome. I had a 24" and thought that the 26" would be better but not so over here.
Hey how’s it going…We just dropped a hedge trimming job we did on the beach…If your interested here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/CryGncG7l_k/видео.html stay blessed 🐢
I have to order 40v version and time to replace and or upgrade. Looking at these or the Milwaukee fuel and thoughts or another brand? To thanks for cool video
Milwaukee definitely a better high quality brand. Ryobi has better warranty, I still have it to this day and it’s worked out great. If your looking for just at home hedge trimming with a few hedges and trees go for it.
You probably already bought something but this may be some food for thought for someone else still looking. "Ryobi tools are made by Techtronic Industries (TTI), a company based in Wisconsin that also owns several other tool and small home appliance brands, including Milwaukee, Homelite, Oreck, Dirt Devil, Hoover, AEG, and RIDGID."
Hello Dan Mr. Lawn Man, Good I watched your video, I am planning to buy one soon. I have a couple of other RYOBI brand that will make battery interchangeable easy. I hope you feel better.🙂😷 Thanks!!!
That would be a great choice to buy the tool alone and save money 💰 since you already have these batteries. Till this day I haven’t had any issues with it I hope this works out for you as well on your projects.
Great review for the Ryobi, with gas prices higher, wouldnt it be cheaper to use the Ryobi? Wondering how long it would last under commercial use? Try it until it fails...thats another video...O
I use it in customer lawns with a few hedges or bushes that need trimming nothing crazy. For the example in this clients lawn I do not recommend it. It’s doable but not recommend.
The tool works. The battery life on 2mah battery is horrible. And a 4mah battery just makes the job a bit difficult to work with on the counter balance. Moving forward I won’t be giving a scale number to products. I’ll just say what I didn’t like and what I did like about it. I was just testing the waters in a scale rate to see if it would stand out. I’ll just mention who it would work for best, who it wouldn’t work for. 👍🏽
Good question. I experimented over the course of this video and have an answer for you. The 2 mah battery only lasted about 1 hour of non stop cutting. It will not finish the job alone in this video. 4 mah battery can last 2-3 hours. I noticed the hotter the temperature outside the less the battery last, the cooler the temperature outside the battery lasted full 3 hours. 5 mah batter lasted 3-4 hours and can complete this job alone. By the end of the trimming I had about 1 battery bar left over. Beware this one is very heavy on the arm and will cause more fatigue and strain on your arm.
For a useful unbiased review of this trimmer, you damn sure should have used the 2amp battery included so that we viewers could see how long the trimmer battery lasted on a full charge!!!!!
yea sorry about that i had a lot of work to do in this video, plus the battery came with only 2 bars charged out the box. Someone else already asked this question so I will just copy and paste my response to a fully charged battery. Good question. I experimented over the course of this video and have an answer for you. Let me know if you have any more questions. I wouldn't recommend this product to a contractor but to a homeowner yes. As long as you dont have hedges these size around the entire house. plus the small hedges int he front it will not last with a 2 mah battery.
Yea that point system was dumb. Never using that again in future videos. Just going to say if it was good or not sorry about that, just trying something new out didn’t work out.
Amp hour, not milli amp hour bruh. 2amp hour battery would output 2 amps over the time frame of an hour at forty volts, homie. Not 1/1000th of an amp, which is a milliamp

Cut cords!? 😱

Congratulations emails you back now

Are you a Ryobi fan? let me know in the comments below.
Third time for hedge work?! Excellent job. You sold a hedge trimmer to this home owner.

Great review. Wanted to see how the orange guard goes on and how that works.
It keeps the clipped leaves from falling to the other side basically. Since I was going to rake I didn’t use it but it works as a guard should I have used it on smaller hedges.
it just slides on and off, very easy

It is a little big, but I think it depends on how strong the user is as well as how much trimming there is to do.
You done a great job on them hedges well done 👍
Thank you I appreciate it 🙏🏼 I was so nervous 😬 your response made me feel better.

The battery harness would be perfect for you on the job.
Great idea didn’t have one or maybe they didn’t make it at the time of this video I never saw it.

Hey Dan, I’m In the market to get a hedge trimmer. Thanks for the review!
Anytime! Hope I answered some questions
How strong of small tree/ weed can it cut through?
Good question never tested it out. If I had to guess no more then 1 inch circumference.
Great review for the Ryobi, with gas prices higher, wouldnt it be cheaper to use the Ryobi? Wondering how long it would last under commercial use? Try it until it fails...thats another video...O

@@DanTheLawnMan because...?
I liked the video, but a 8.5 just because its a bit heavier with a bigger size battery seems a bit odd.

Very nice job. Thank you for a great video 👌👍
Thank you
very fine job what part of US to you work
I work in the south Florida area.
Good job bro. Great review

You're deducting because of the weight of the battery that you chose to use?!0

It was a lot of work for a small trimmer but a good test for the equipment. Glad you enjoyed the video 😊

So what does the “M”stand for in mah battery?
But you are right it’s AH I’m use to the saying MAH because of the actual 18650 battery this uses inside.
