yeah i think so because later you play 4 or 5 certain characters i think and there you will not die like here it wouldnt make sense :D its for the intro to feel how the game is.
The fact that you die and changes to another soldier is reall well made. Finally something new in the FPS world. I was sick of dying, respawning and doing the same shit all over again.
+Hound Zero That's what I was thinking. It seems to be a series of "die to progress" scenarios where you're not supposed to live for very long. Likely meant to be a tone-setter for the game and to give the player an idea of what to expect in terms of gameplay and action.
not Expected to survive that brings back the feeling of Halo Reach at the end of the game were you try to survive as hard as you can but still end up dying.
is it bad that at the end of Halo Reach i cried? you do risk your life for humanity and are stranded on a new covenent planet ALONE (except if you have a second friend which i had).
The part that got me was when he was in the tank and he points at the German Soldier who obviously is "Shell Shocked". And he doesn't shoot.. That really captured the true grit of war. These are people just as human as you are. And not only was he shell shocked, he also didn't have a weapon so he was no threat, idk i just really find that honourable.
While not all cops are bad, most of the time, the reason that Blacks are shot by cops, isn't because they are black, its because now that BLM is a thing, they try to resist arrest, even in super minuscule events. Can cops get better training? : Yes, but lets not just say one side is bad when the other should do something to fix their problems. And also, please no Political Issues on my comment, it was and is supposed to be about the game.
Notice that Harlem Hellfighters are wearing French helmets? Since they were an African American unit, the US command wouldn't place them with other American units and instead the Harlem Hellfighters fought with the French, who had plenty of African troops in their army.
I USED to play CoD, until they made Infinite Warfare, and they made this. I'm a huge fan of history, and when I heard they were making a game on WW1 instead of some shit futurisitc crap, I was ecstatic.
People whining over that there are only black people, you should remember that blacks were not allowed to fight in the same battalions as white folks, that is why we only see afro-americans in the depicted battle. And there were black people in the war, but only a very (veeery) small part of the fighters were black. And I find it interesting that DICE chose to have one of those black battalions as one of the playable characters. I guess they went for uniqueness and/or political correctness? Edit: I could add in that this depicted battle is most likely part of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive that took place in the Fall of 1918 (the very end of WW1) and the 369th army regiment, Aka. Harlem Hellfighters were part in. So I guess I could add that as some base for why we follow a black regiment in this gameplay.
How do they spit on the graves of the people that died during the war? Almost all (if not all) movies made about the Great War has been with white protagonists. So if they show one of the black battalions in action to have some diversity in the game they rewrite history? This game will not only depict this battalion, but almost all fronts of the war. You also see a sneak peek of the next mission where we see a tank crew of, you guessed it, all white people. Black people were not allowed to drive tanks during ww1. But if they were allowed, and I follow your logic the tank crew would also be all blacks. Edit: maybe I put up the argument wrong, with all this political correctness and historical authenticity that is going around nowadays. You are free to educate my historical knowledge if I'm wrong in my argument, and I'm open to criticism. I just think this biased whining from people is stupid.
The worst part of this is that you aren't killing terrorists in this game, you are killing people who got forced to fight for their country, they dont want to conquer the world or shit, its just forced people fighting each other for some ideology
I actually cried at the "Light beyond the clouds" monologue. I've been to Ypres, where my great uncle was killed in 1917 in the trenches crawling around the city, and is commemorated at "Berks Cemetery Extension" memorial. I stood at the memorial with my dad, uncle and cousin, and I left an entry in the memorial's logbook as tribute to my great uncle, whose body was never found, at the age of 19, even younger than I am now. Many game titles gloss over the true nightmare of warfare in favour of grand and heroic scenes and events. But most of the time it isn't grand, it isn't heroic. It's brutal, and ugly, and most of the men in Belgium and across France died in a ditch, with nobody even paying attention to them as their life faded away. Battlefield is such a wonderful and tragic ode to the horrors of war that no other military FPS even comes close. I hope when I come to play it, it does it justice.
The song played when the black guy wakes up and is in the bed dreaming : Mama Cass Elliot Dream A Little Dream Of Me Same song may be different singer logs of people sang it. Its on youtube btw
***** You're welcome Note that if you ever want to find songs usually how i find it is just Typing the first thing i heard in the song ex: in this i heard "Star shining bright above you" so i typed that and found it pretty quickly
When I was a kid I had the same fucking idea, a war game were when you die your field of view goes to another solder in the battle field, thus continuing on that level to make it more realistic. Damn they beat me to it!
Guys, can we all just take a step back and admire the beautiful narrative storytelling that is taking place here instead of getting pissed off about realism or racism?
Go fuck yourself Jarhead, the narrative storytelling is wonderful in all the small details, the piles of bodies on the floor, the airship providing the scale of the entire battle, utter destruction going on around you reminding you of your insignificance at that very moment in time, soldiers traumatised by PTSD and shell shock roaming the map...you cannot tell me that it is "nothing really special" you are a fucking moron if you think that
George Jones It's pretty much on par with pretty much every single war movie made after saving private ryan, since every war movie made after saving private ryan tries to be like saving private ryan. There are indie movies on youtube that are 20 minutes long that have better storytelling than this. A fine example is "COWARD" by Stephen Murphy.
TheMCJarhead While that is true, that does not mean it is a bad story and it is still refreshing to see in a video game. Movies and games are two very different narrative platforms. I believe along with many others that games can speak to the audience much better than movies can, so I think that is why the vast majority of people are excited for this game and its story.
True fact: Russia had such few supplies and so many men that, at times, every third soldier was given a gun. The other two were expected to grab it when he died.
Kevin DeLeeuw no it wasn't the case in ww2. The Russian army had enough guns but they let prisoners fight in the war for freedom but they used them more like cannon meat so they didn't give much weapons to the prisoners fighting.
No, when the soldiers were shipped to defend Stalingrad there was initially a shortage of guns for the conscripts. It wasn't prison batts, just ordinary soldiers. I think it was quite realistically depicted in the movie "Enemy at the gates" where they also showed how the Sovjets set up machineguns behind the attacking troops to prevent them from trying to retreat. Or as Stalin put it; In the Sovjet army it takes more courage to retreat than to attack.
BenAddict19 Well I was gonna summarise the intro but if you might play it I won't spoil lol. I think Battlefield 1's intro is powerful but then again for one thing it's not exactly original as it's really just another shooting level.
Ummm who is complaining about the black guy? All i can see is people complaining about the people complaining that there is a balck guy if that made sense
Youssef Ibrahim Maybe because USA (and I claim he's American, because he says lucky the tank was on "our side", if he was British he would have said lucky it's ours/we made it, also the english they speak is different from the clip at the end which i'm sure are British based on their accent) so USA still had racism back in 1914 and wouldn't let them go to war, which doesn't make sense why he's there
Henry Johnson black dude and awarded medal of honor in 2015 due to his heroic acts, citation as follows: Private Henry Johnson United States Army For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty: Private Johnson distinguished himself by acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a member of Company C, 369th Infantry Regiment, 93rd Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during combat operations against the enemy on the front lines of the Western Front in France on May 15, 1918. Private Johnson and another soldier were on sentry duty at a forward outpost when they received a surprise attack from a German raiding party consisting of at least 12 soldiers. While under intense enemy fire and despite receiving significant wounds, Private Johnson mounted a brave retaliation, resulting in several enemy casualties. When his fellow soldier was badly wounded, Private Johnson prevented him from being taken prisoner by German forces. Private Johnson exposed himself to grave danger by advancing from his position to engage an enemy soldier in hand-to-hand combat. Wielding only a knife and gravely wounded himself, Private Johnson continued fighting and took his Bolo knife and stabbed it through an enemy soldier’s head. Displaying great courage, Private Johnson held back the enemy force until they retreated. Private Johnson’s extraordinary heroism and selflessness above and beyond the call of duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
Name Holder not really alternate since the it's all about ww1 and has the same outcome. it' just a really innacurate depiction of it. Let's be honest, if this game were like verdun then it would suck. that game is accurate. Other than this, it's all for fun and from what I heard it has a darn good story
I've read a lot of comments complaining about how everyone else resents the presence of a black person in Battlefield 1, but I haven't actually read any comments expressing that resentment.
It's all a lie. WW1 is a lie. The entire war was actually just a cover up for a mass barbed wire orgy. The orgy was bloody. Many men died, but they died doing what they loved: each other.
Montpelier Montgomery this game makes me mad but not cause they don't have a woman in the mutiplayer or cause this guy is black. No no it's cause the game is annoying and at this point it's like cod oh you use this you will go 30-0 oh you camp you go 30-0 oh you buy the dlc you go 30-0. AND PLEASE TELL ME YOU GOT THIS FAR INTO MY COMMENT WITH OUT YOUR FACE TURNING RED AND THEN YOU MASH THE KEYBORD AND ATTACK ME. Just don't attack me yet go into the game and just give it a really hard look. :1 the tanks are so op that when you get onto them you can carry a team. :2 you use the snipers and camp you go 30-0 you use the lmgs and camp you go 30-0. AND DONT SAY COD FAN BOY I HOPE YOU FALL OFF A CLIFF AND DIE. IM NOT A COD FAN BOY INFACT I SNAPED CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS 2. AND IM A BIG FAN OF BATTLEFIELD.
Legendary ZACH4 I have never seen so many assumptions about me packed into such a small place before. Wow. I don't even play Battlefield or Call of Duty. I just came here because I like history and cinematic visuals, so... I have no idea what you're talking about.
Montpelier Montgomery they where not fully made out to you. I was not in any way attacking you just to have that clear :). And might I add this is nothing like world war 1 cause it's all just run a gun. It is cool to watch tho.
The blacks were a big minority, and their part in the war wasn't all that important. I personally knew that there were black soldiers, but I get why someone wouldn't know.
well the hellfighters where some of the toughest units during the war, and under french command they earned the French Croix de guerre, being the first foreign battalion to do so. also being the first unit to cross into the Rhine. But hey, no biggie right lol
Well they were tough, I'll give you that, but they were still a big minority in the army. They got the Croix becouse of that and also becouse they were basically left for the French to command, but getting to Rhine wasn't all that spectacular becouse it was after the war and they were really close to it.
There were so few black people in the war that it would only statistically make sense to play as a black character if there are over 10,000 campaigns, not 6.
Reilly Len this is the first mission of the campaign, and its the only good one the rest suck. The multiplayer is boring af too. Im a battle field fan and this dissapoints me.
RIP my Great Granduncle Private François Collin Private Second Class 99th Infantry Regiment French Army No. 12308 1897-1917 Killed from an artillery shell Lest we forget....
As somebody with a history degree, yes there were black men (although a very small minority) who fought in WW1. Most of them from areas in the French/British empires. I have no issue playing as a black/Asian/white protagonist as long as it is historically correct. The issue I have is with the Americanised voice acting that sounds like it was pulled from a 1980s Vietnam film and the historically inaccurate weaponry. I did hear a British voice in there somewhere but it seemed to me to be a modern Londoners accent, not a 1918 British accent. Honestly, if you're going to make a game based in a very famous period in history, at least do it properly. As a side note, can we please just all agree that World War 1, one of the most devastating wars of all time, was a horrible part of human history and just remember and respect all those who fought, (both the entante and central powers) and died in this horrific period in our past.
They were an American unit that fought alongside the french using alot of the french equipment including helmets. So yes, they would have an American accent. As for weaponry, Dice and other sources close to the company have stated that it would not be completely historically accurate on the battlefield for the sake of fun and variety as this game is not a complete recreation or simulation of the actual events that took place. That being said, if you would like to play a more true WW1 game, Verdun for PC exist and its fantastic.
Matthew Arenson Ares14 Apologies, the hell fighters didn't come to mind. That would make a bit more sense as to why they sounded American. And yes I do own Verdun and yes it is fantastic.
Itanimulli needs a bit of gore. I know it sounds terrible of me to wish that, but I don't like the clean corpse shit in these past few war games this year.....
This is emotional... But please, as a french person, don't forget our man that did the trench warfare. Please give the french and russian soldiers the recognition they deserve, hope they also get a storyline as good as this one
Kio Shinozaki I wish I could play as my maternal Grandfather, Edgied LeVeque, from Québec. He played a vital role as a translator, a gofer between French and English speaking forces. They should have a custom made soldier option.
Mr Rien To be fair, that includes civilian casualties. Apart from marooned tourists and the odd journalist, there were no American civilians there to be victims. Furthermore, Americans joined late while the French fought on their on soil from start to finish. My point is, I don't think French were dying any faster or that Americans were any luckier; they died at the same rate for as long as they participated.
Chuck Buskee doubtful, since it appears that was the only combat regiment. i just researched them, and then i researched other ww1 black combat regiments and found only them.
French in the DLC, no Russians, not to mention Germans. Yet one of main characters is black. I mean, the problem is not that they use black soldier as a playable character. What I really don't like is that the French, MAJOR contributor to this war, weren't even originally ment to be playable! One of the most important nations during that period is only to be released in a DLC! Don't get me wrong. The fact that we can see Harlem Hellfighters is cool. Many people didn't even heard about them (hell, most people don't even know what First World War was about, so that's not so suprising). And yeah, that unit was veery effective. But in the end, there was but tiiny procentage of Africans on the Western front. What I would liked instead, is that they show us African theatre, where we could see colonial African troops. You know, because Africans were actually MAJORITY of soldiers there, while in Europe there were more Indians than blacks. German East Africa, anyone? And yeah, Germans. I will return to them in a moment. I have that feeling that the black soldiers in Battlefield 1 are a little bit.. forced. Like they had to include them, to appear modern, liberal, tolerant. I mean, look at BF's cover. It's okay that they care about black soldiers so much, I get it. But... you have that game about WW1 and black soldier is on the main cover. Which gives the impression that they were vital part of the war. While it is far from truth. I get that their actions were totally ignored by their governments (just see how US treated Harlem Hellfighters), so devs want to give them justice. But why not show all of the characters on the cover? That would be more truthful. Sorry, I may be biased or something, but it totally looks like political correctnes. There are plenty of other ways to show that they care about minorities. Show commitment of blacks, fighting ON THEIR OWN SOIL in Africa. Fighting hard for their promised independence. That would be great to see. I would LOVE to see some of Askari. And Germans? Where are my Germans? WW1 is a great opportunity to show Germans as something other than a villain, to PLAY as one, see war from their perspective. Is there any game at all where you can play as a German? FPS game, I mean. As far as I know, there is none. At least they are showing us Italian front, and possibly one of the main characters is Italian. Which is good. Russia should be included as well, at least for Multiplayer. Because by 1917/1918 Russia was already losing/out of the war/busy with a revolution at home. I get that the main audience for most of the games comes from Anglo-Saxon world. So they throw Canadian, Brit, American and (possibly) Australian as a playable characters. So that said audience could feel connected to the story and characters. But ignoring French is just riddiculous. I get it, Germans are portrayed as "evil", so you can't play as one, but Frenchies? Man, poor Frenchies. Not even portrayed in the game where most of the action takes place on their territory. There is that Kurd/Bedouin female character that we will play as - that's good, but then again, I think that her gender is a bit forced. But the setting is cool - Sinai Desert map was looking great and climatic. And those Ottoman uniforms are awsome! :D But come on, give me that ONE German guy! ONE, POOR LITTLE HANS! He deserves some love! And yeah, yeah, I know, they won't change anything. And I don't want them too. It's already too late and the game itself is fun as fuck, so I will play it like crazy. But don't get me on those weapons. I mean, that they use prototypes in Multiplayer is ok. But Semi-Auto rifles in Singleplayer campaign? Leave those prototypes as something to find somewhere on the map, while most of the weapons should be bolt-action rifles. It's not that they aren't cool enough or something - in my opinion they were most fun to shoot in Beta. And I remind all of you - I have every right to state my opinion. Yes, opinion. I may be complaining if I want to. I just share some thoughts on the game. Is it wrong to do so? EDIT: I edited some parts of my original comment because of constant insults from people that didn't even bother to read my other comments, where I explained myself.
***** What do you mean? We all know that. We know there were blacks present in WW1. The problem is't that they are in the game, just that they are showing one small unit on European theatre, when they could've shown more of them fighting in Africa. After all, they have an "Bedouin" campaign in Arabia, why focus on Europe, when they could've shown Africa, which is often ignored in video games?
this campaign was actually amazing. Love that it showed the true horrors of WW1 - having the dates of the deaths just added to that grim feeling. loved it!
No one is saying the Harlem Hellfighters didn't exist. But there were many distinguished units in WW1. Ask yourself: why, for a conflict in which over 60 million men fought, and the overwhelming majority of them were white, did they choose to portray that experience with the one notable black unit? Why would they engage in this erasure? POLITICAL CORRECTNESS
OMG! get over your caucasian ego already. Ask YOURSELF: Why, for the 100's of military FPS games, is there now all this uproar about **ONE** (of the MANY) protagonists in this game being black. Man alive!
TheWholeWorldChannel Because it's a game that portrays a real historical event dude, and one that shaped the lives of almost every living white person. Adding both sides of my family, 10 of my ancestors fought in it and 4 of them were killed.
While I understand the extreme push for political correctness, lots of those men came back without recognition or reward. Many, including MoH recipient Sgt. Henry Johnson died destitute because of their status in US society. For Sgt. Henry Johnson, his valor on the battlefield wouldn't be rewarded until 97 years after the fact. So to call this erasure of white contributions in WW1 seems trivial when it took almost 100 years to recognize their contributions in the real world. Please don't diminish the memory of what they went through because of something as simple as skin color when in the end they all shared hell with one another.
Twitche Smallz ..people like Rico can't see past skin color. Don't bother explaining actual facts.. he'll just pull some arbitrary number to dispute it. It's a waste of time. Let him have his delusion.
The stand off between the two is amazing, emotional and confusing all at once it made me wanna cry, they went through hell and at the end, they both see the light far enough to drop arms. the storytelling of this game is amazing! I love it!
Great that if you die, you take over as another hero on the battlefield, they all were heroes afterall. However two things that are wrong in my opnion are still here: 1. You can't be German, those people fought like anyone else, so why not? 2. No mention at all of Belgian soldiers while French are locked behind DLC. I play Verdun on PS4 everyday and they got all weapons, units and factions and its a way smaller studio and budget, so why can't EA do it?
This might be the first campaign ever in a game to capture the horrors of war. You as the player see the countless amount of death, brutal beatings, soldiers who just stand still in shell shock, the atmosphere sets up a deathly feel, people dying all around you, I can go on forever. I know I will have someone talking about how it is historically inaccurate, but god people this is one emotional campaign.
Haha, that would be funny - in the campaign you take a bullet to the arse and complain about the world being cruel, people being ignorant and then practise stances in the mirror to look cool and strong when you hold your speeches infront of drunk men in bierkellers. :D
There was a soldier who went insane during the battle and was just walking around in the middle of the fight and nobody shot him. That was during the first Chechen war. True story It is mentally hard to shoot such people because they are defenceless especially in the close combat, don't forget that most of soldiers are just ordinary people
about 30% of all shots fired in WWII were missed on purpose cause people dont naturally wanna kill other people without reason... Look up christms truce in WW1! There wasnt really any hate in WW1 between the fighting sides!
Betty Mann But when you confront a shell shocked guy it is not "me or him" situation + what I am saying is that It will be just hard for us (ordinary people) shoot an unarmed man
That's why I love movies like American sniper and saving private Ryan. it really shows you the Hell of war. It looks like they hit the mark with this game too.
Idiots who say a black man fighting in Europe is historically inaccurate are historically inaccurate. This man has a French uniform. The French had several colonies in Africa and the Caribbean including Algeria and Haiti. They had a lot of black soldiers, including in their famous Legionaries division. Because WW1 was a meat grinder especially for men who were of low birth (high ranking officers were almost always of high birth) it makes sense that the imperial powers also used inhabitants from their colonies as cannon fodder. What is historically inaccurate is the (heavy)use of SMG's, except for maybe a few experimental prototypes, they weren't used in WW1. They did have machine guns but they were too heavy to be used by shock troops or to be fired while running or walking. I for one, a native European, find it interesting to see through the eyes of a man who is forced to fight in, for him an alien world full of carnage. After the launch trailer of BF1, I was somewhat disgusted by what look liked the celebration of a abysmal war. Putting 7 nation army in an action packed trailer is like putting a rock song under a video of 9/11 for a lot of people. this trailer atleast shows some dignity.
yeah but... this soldier isn't a colonial auxiliary, he's from the American 369th Infatry Regiment Harlem Hellfighter. the Americans back in 1917 couldn't be bothered to give those soldiers proper gear, which is why you see him with the French Helmet. the 369th were embedded with the French, and were the first Americans to get the French Cross Of War.
I dont think DICE meant any disrespect to those who fought and died in WW1, I think it was more a marketing choice, trying to get people hyped for the game, earn more money in pre orders, etc. But I do see where you are coming from saying it was inappropriate
First of all they chose these guys because they deserved to be mentioned infact some of these Harlem Fighters didn't even recieve the Medal Of Honour due to them being African-American or just solely of their skin tone. And also please fucking learn your history you idiot and search up the MP-18 Sub-Machine gun. You're probably one of those who think the B.A.R was used only in World War II anyways.
only in the first mission. for the rest the single player campaign pretty much sucks it seems there are even parts that you actual have to try to get killed
Not so much "come back": when a soldier you control dies; he is dead and that is the end of the war for him, and thus so ends your perspective from him. You merely shift to the perspective of another soldier who is alive and still fighting.... until he too dies and you shift to yet another soldier's perspective. Continue ad nauseam...
It's like when they announced Finn as a main character in Star Wars all over again. Hell I don't see an issue with it. If you've played GTA chances are you've played as a black guy.
This might be the first *Historical* shooter where you'll feel shitty throughout the story instead of "High octane action and extreme violence!" Edit: People don't see the 5th and 6th comment already, so.. I already know Spec Ops The Line was the first. Just Saying.
I know right the whole time I was like this is make me feel uncomfortable even though when I play any other war game out there I don't feel bad for shooting fictitious soldiers.
yeah I can't believe I'm going to say this but I'm going to have a hard time playing the single player just like when I played dead space 2 only for different reasons lol.
I love this whole " In the end all soldiers are victims" aspect of this game it shows the true unforgiving brutality that was WW1, my respect to all the soldiers who died no matter what side they were on, it's the people at the top who are evil bastards.
The combat and grittiness is quite good however the battle structure is not accurate, if there was more trench combat then yes. But I see what you mean it does look quite real in a sense
Is it bad that some of the aspects of this game scare me? Like the soldier suffering from shell shock in the tank charge, cowering in fear. Or the German soldier wandering aimlessly in the bayonet charge, who gets gunned down without warning. Realism is what truly scares me, knowing that this happened at some point in history is horrifying. I don't want to say that I won't be buying this game, but I will be considering it. One of the first times in video gaming history that death is portrayed as something heavy. Not to say that it hasn't before, I mean mass deaths. Regular FPS games have a death of a teammate to add drama and whatnot. But in this, it seems that every death matters.
They wanted to show the realism of war with this game not many people that were born now in this century really dont know about war and struggle.. they wanted to show how war was really like not some call of duty jetpacks and spaceships
Source Dasher sorry if my opinion offended you, I simply wanted to share my views for this upcoming game. If you don't like my views you don't have to care. I think this game shows the real and gritty parts of war, a lot better than many other games do. I apologise if I've said anything to make you mad, but I somewhat believe I'm entitled to my own views and beliefs friend.
Happy to see historical accuracy...African American soldiers fought and sacrificed their lives just as any other soldiers would have...war cannot be felt through a tv screen and a gaming consol..but history and fact can...I will admit,I have used derogatory terms toward people of color and race, hell,we all have...I love this game, and its developer's focus on the reality of war....so,go on,and rip my comment to shreds...hence forth with the ragging and hate...just think about the early 1900's...and play this most amazing game.👍✊✊✊
black men had so little to do with ww1 that they might as well have pit women in the front lines. Oh wait! The most well known women regiment was russian, and rusia isn't in the game. Neither is france. So let mw get this strait, ww have black men fighting in the front lines, but there are no french or russians? Next thing you know is you can't play as a german...
Sadly DICE had to alter it to make it more relevant? I'm not sure if that's the right word. You're right though, it's very inaccurate but it gets the point across. Do you know about Verdun? That game is much more faithful.
Then go play Verdun and shut the fuck up. DICE said the game is BASED on WWI. They took a lot of liberties with the content to make it a more enjoyable game, not a more relevant topic. It's still an incredible game and thusfar has a very emotional story.
Adam Smith what I meant was that I'm sad about the fact that you have to pay a lot just for the "full" BF1 experience (because EA). But I guess even without dlc, the game will (hopefully) still be fun to play.
__Rex PowerDoge__ yeah it makes the respawn more realistic, and you understand how fast one can die in war. Only thing that could make it better is if there was a random animation for each new soldier to get a quick backstory and get attached
who else was haunted by the music in the beginning with oh ya know that Harlem hellfighter smashing that German's skull open with a rock or the French officer being bayoneted in the hand but then continues to beat that german to death with the same hand eugghhh
***** No the Harlem Hellfighters were an American regiment hence the khaki uniforms but they were given to the French army as a throw away, thats why they have the Adrian helmets :)
Why do you play as less than 1% of all soldiers that fought in ww1? A black dude... ok, might as well play as a woman in the front lines... so few that you can almost name them all.
you only play as a black unit in the beginning dude. you already knew this game was going to have some connection with the harlem hellfighters. also you are really fucking ignorant to ignore the fact that people from all kinds of races fought in ww1. just becuase a small number fought, does not mean that you should ignore their effort.
The Clown you will play as a woman, in the arab revolt against the ottomans. i am against PC but this is not a matter of black vs white, this is a matter of having respect for everyone who fought in war. and it wasn't just white vs white. there were enough minority races that were taken from their colonies to fight in the european conflict, and you can't just deny their effort in the war. now just shut up, the campaign can last up to 8 hours and you will only play as an african american unit for 12 minutes - the minutes you play as a brittish tank crew. so about 6 minutes of the game is you playing in a black unit.
The campaign looks amazing, not only for the combat but more for the emotional look at the soldiers the names of real soldiers who lost their lives in that terrible war! Dice really went out for this game and helping the players understand the war and the lives it affected and the horrors the war brought!
dice isn't liberal. Has anyone seen Battlefield 3's campaign? Glorifying western might and power through foreign conquests? If this was politically correct than many women and blacks would be charging on that battlefield but that isn't the case. This black guy is part of the 0.01% of people fighting on that battlefield so I don't see a problem here. Despite his race, he might have an interesting story to tell. Along with all of the other white characters in the game.
I don't get it. These guys existed, and actually did a very good job on the front line. How is this not history? If anything, i'd be disgusted at the guns that they include in the game that never saw service.
These comments are very sad! The game looks amazing! It's not like they made up the the Harlem Hellfighters. Should no other group ever be given a chance to be represented in a game, because their race isn't the majority of what participated? Does that even make sense?
this guy is crazy to think of something like that and the campaign look good but we still haven't played it yet and we don't know if the campaign actually going to be good
Let me tell you something about war. When you're on the field, it doesn't matter if you're black, white, green yellow or orange. You're a unit, you're the representatives of your country, volunteering your life. It's good that everyone here got recognition. They're all heroes. And true heroes don't need their stories told. They die, knowing they did their duty, without the desire to be published or worshiped. It's cool that they included the black fighters, but to me, it's just war. And those who die in it to protect those who don't.
☾Street Light☽ I agree but what I'm saying is you don't know what blacks went trough when they came back home from the war they got no medals or any recognition for fighting for our country with bravery.
And while that's unfortunate, what is a medal other than a hunk of metal on your chest? They served their country, and the scars they came back with were their medals. They were brave soldiers, who knew what age America was in. They knew they wouldn't be praised when they came home, yet did their duty honorably. That is a soldier.
Holy shit it was a horrendous idea to scroll down haha...
Yup
Yeah, I need some PTSD treatment myself now.
No shit, 99% of comments are just about the black soldier
The Spy Yes, they are.
welcome to the trenches of youtube, keep your heads down and your masks ready or your comments gonna be flagged and flooded
I love that when you die its switches to another soldier keeps the pace up
just for the intro
+missael lombera are you saying that it doesn't still happen later in the game?
Yeah same style as in BF2 modern combat. I like how they bring this back
yeah i think so because later you play 4 or 5 certain characters i think and there you will not die like here it wouldnt make sense :D its for the intro to feel how the game is.
nope
"What follows is frontline combat. *You are not expected to survive."*
Jesus Christ that's hallowing.
This is most impacted intro i was even seen. War is the hell.
"It ended nothing"
Damn. I think we're in for a trip here.
Feels
+Donald Trump you weren't even made yet XD

John Marco Reyes I know but half if it is literally people blowing smoke outta their ass and wiki articles
Being on the Internet doesn't mean everyone has all of it's knowledge
Yup this isnt even close to being Historically accurate
yoshee87 Who cares? Don't buy it
The fact that you die and changes to another soldier is reall well made. Finally something new in the FPS world. I was sick of dying, respawning and doing the same shit all over again.
GX DarcY I agree
i think thats only the start of the game
+Hound Zero That's what I was thinking. It seems to be a series of "die to progress" scenarios where you're not supposed to live for very long. Likely meant to be a tone-setter for the game and to give the player an idea of what to expect in terms of gameplay and action.
GX DarcY that was more of a memorial for some of the soldiers who lost their lives, that's not gonna be the whole game.
only for the stupid people: in the world war the France Armee take Black Soldier out of the Kolonie to fight in Europa😂
You don't respawn you go on to another soldier's life.....

not Expected to survive that brings back the feeling of Halo Reach at the end of the game were you try to survive as hard as you can but still end up dying.
ThugWolf GS that gave me an emotional breakdown when I died the first time
I thought we were gonna get saved by someone or something after a while... Then the visor cracked. Oh man, the feels.
is it bad that at the end of Halo Reach i cried? you do risk your life for humanity and are stranded on a new covenent planet ALONE (except if you have a second friend which i had).
Mister Black you suck boy
ThugWolf GS i love that feeling
You don't respawn once you die, you just take on another soldier's journey.
Good for you
well.... another soldiers 2 minutes of a journey
It's unique and better than the old respawn from my sight
Do you know what realism is?
I think that was just for the prologue.
It looks like a fucking movie... awesome.
A Bollywood movie
+karolooo o wtf
Problem, Son of the West?
No fucking taste whatsoever.
Get out.
Enragement Child glorifying war shouldn't be the object of these games
how is this making war look like anything but full of death and destruction
the war to end all wars. it ended nothing.

I think you guys misunderstood him by a mile.
you do realize that he's actually praising BF? no? Well the way you speak just about tells me how many brain cells you lack.
LMAOO TRU AFF ROFL JK dude i was trolling. but seriously fuck cod fan girls!
it had an opening cinematic. hows that interactive movie. stick to cod which is just set piece after set piece
"fucking RT won't register ahh fuck this shit I'm gonna die anw"
k
Now if only police officers could do the same for Americans :'(
While not all cops are bad, most of the time, the reason that Blacks are shot by cops, isn't because they are black, its because now that BLM is a thing, they try to resist arrest, even in super minuscule events. Can cops get better training? : Yes, but lets not just say one side is bad when the other should do something to fix their problems. And also, please no Political Issues on my comment, it was and is supposed to be about the game.
I try to be respectful in all my comments so lets just get along. :D
This is way too real for me I'm getting secondhand ptsd holy shit
bruh
real?, dude, try verdun
Benito Rojas oh fuck you
the campaing is open you dont just go one place you can move longer distances
bob saget lmao
Notice that Harlem Hellfighters are wearing French helmets? Since they were an African American unit, the US command wouldn't place them with other American units and instead the Harlem Hellfighters fought with the French, who had plenty of African troops in their army.
It's because the Americans discriminated them but the French were happy to get any help they could. They also AFAIK took the French Lebel rifles also
I feel like COD fans don't even care what the game is, they will hate on it as long as its not a COD game, even if the game is amazing
True, I feel COD is just the same drivel over and over again.
TheOverseer2077 it is the only good ones were years ago
I loved COD 3 but won't give modern warfare or black ops games the time of day
Really? I'm seeing a lot of cod players loving this game.
I USED to play CoD, until they made Infinite Warfare, and they made this. I'm a huge fan of history, and when I heard they were making a game on WW1 instead of some shit futurisitc crap, I was ecstatic.
damn these soilders dying young
lmao ikr
ISAIAH LINKS You replied to your own comment. -_-
and that nigga spelled soldier wrong
+Robolery nah thats my hamster nigga
Yep War is hell
+Menoris they didn't rewrite history? Blacks fought along side blacks.
Because unlike you racist Americans, France actually allowed black people to fight among them and were quite nice to them.
+Menoris
This.
You have a point but in this situation, it's bullshit. EA put black people there because they are a bunch of political correct pussies.
7:14 That soldier huddling over always gets me.
8:18 Everyone in the history of everything has almost had something terrible happen to them 2 seconds after that line is said.
8:25 Fucking told you! but all jokes aside that was tragic.
RIP to all the soldiers who perished during WW1
This is so fucking good cod is officially dead
its a good game but no. this doesnt mean cod is dead. cod isn't dead, its no where near dead.
+Erik Eguia Bandwagon rider. Seriously though, Battlefield 1 campaign looks great.
CoD died years ago.
Yea, smth like cod1 campaign with better graphics and cutscenes.
When people stop saying CoD, that's when it will truly die...
The worst part of this is that you aren't killing terrorists in this game, you are killing people who got forced to fight for their country, they dont want to conquer the world or shit, its just forced people fighting each other for some ideology
It's almost like you're playing a war game
lmao
that's war for you
it doesn't make it better if you are killing terrorists. it won't be a pleasure either.
well that is the definition of war for thousands of years.
The song played when the black guy wakes up and is in the bed dreaming : Mama Cass Elliot Dream A Little Dream Of Me
Same song may be different singer logs of people sang it. Its on youtube btw
***** You're welcome
Note that if you ever want to find songs usually how i find it is just Typing the first thing i heard in the song ex: in this i heard "Star shining bright above you" so i typed that and found it pretty quickly
When I was a kid I had the same fucking idea, a war game were when you die your field of view goes to another solder in the battle field, thus continuing on that level to make it more realistic. Damn they beat me to it!
They had an older title named Battlefield 2: Modern Combat on the PS2 which uses that method where if you died, it switches you to another soldier.
Danny Torres yup that is true. You could change soldier as you wish vi Hot swap. That was awesome!!
workwork damn one game did that a long time ago it was called blackout
workwork damn ikr its a dream come true
Guys, can we all just take a step back and admire the beautiful narrative storytelling that is taking place here instead of getting pissed off about realism or racism?
The narrative storytelling is exactly like any other triple a game or movie out there. Nothing really special. :/
Go fuck yourself Jarhead, the narrative storytelling is wonderful in all the small details, the piles of bodies on the floor, the airship providing the scale of the entire battle, utter destruction going on around you reminding you of your insignificance at that very moment in time, soldiers traumatised by PTSD and shell shock roaming the map...you cannot tell me that it is "nothing really special" you are a fucking moron if you think that
George Jones While I completely agree with you, there was no reason to use such language
You are thinking of WWII. Wrong War buddy.
No there is the russian one
Like in ww2 as well
This is the best introduction to a game I have ever seen. Can anyone think of a better one?
BenAddict19 nope
BenAddict19 The Last Of Us.
SicParvisMagna123 AHhhh never been a Playstation guy will have to see!
BenAddict19 Well I was gonna summarise the intro but if you might play it I won't spoil lol. I think Battlefield 1's intro is powerful but then again for one thing it's not exactly original as it's really just another shooting level.
World at war is the only competitor
I want this game more now than before...
Same.. I think after seeing this we all do
Clorox Bleach your everywhere dude😂
Yep
nah there are several Clorox Bleach accounts.
+Joe Drake there are copycats
The moment when "What follows is a frontline battle. You are not expected to survive". WOW... 😍😍😍😍
Prateek Tripathi its like they are trying to show us an idea of how brutal it really was... If that makes sense
Maybe.
They're told us what every soldier was thinking.
They say that to every soldier who is on the front line. Hence the name lol
#JustGreatWarThings
Ummm who is complaining about the black guy? All i can see is people complaining about the people complaining that there is a balck guy if that made sense
Youssef Ibrahim
Maybe because USA (and I claim he's American, because he says lucky the tank was on "our side", if he was British he would have said lucky it's ours/we made it, also the english they speak is different from the clip at the end which i'm sure are British based on their accent) so USA still had racism back in 1914 and wouldn't let them go to war, which doesn't make sense why he's there
Henry Johnson black dude and awarded medal of honor in 2015 due to his heroic acts, citation as follows:
Private Henry Johnson
United States Army
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty:
Private Johnson distinguished himself by acts of gallantry and
intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a member
of Company C, 369th Infantry Regiment, 93rd Division, American
Expeditionary Forces, during combat operations against the enemy on the
front lines of the Western Front in France on May 15, 1918. Private
Johnson and another soldier were on sentry duty at a forward outpost
when they received a surprise attack from a German raiding party
consisting of at least 12 soldiers. While under intense enemy fire and
despite receiving significant wounds, Private Johnson mounted a brave
retaliation, resulting in several enemy casualties. When his fellow
soldier was badly wounded, Private Johnson prevented him from being
taken prisoner by German forces. Private Johnson exposed himself to
grave danger by advancing from his position to engage an enemy soldier
in hand-to-hand combat. Wielding only a knife and gravely wounded
himself, Private Johnson continued fighting and took his Bolo knife and
stabbed it through an enemy soldier’s head. Displaying great courage,
Private Johnson held back the enemy force until they retreated. Private
Johnson’s extraordinary heroism and selflessness above and beyond the
call of duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military
service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United
States Army.
Name Holder not really alternate since the it's all about ww1 and has the same outcome. it' just a really innacurate depiction of it. Let's be honest, if this game were like verdun then it would suck. that game is accurate. Other than this, it's all for fun and from what I heard it has a darn good story
It was a simple question i dont want this to be a history lesson
Youssef Ibrahim there were african soldiers that fought because there was the african colonies
Dalton K ok
I would have loved to play a campaign as a german soldier.
me too
there might be we are going through 8 different perspectives in the story you know ;)
they NEVER show German soldiers as good guys either its really annoying
we might actually do that
yEAH, A AS A BLACK GERMAN...COME ON...
If you're surprised to learn about black people being in the war, you're too young to be playing this game. Knowledge wise ,age wise, or both
still playing this game sorry i was sold about 5 minutes in
The blacks were a big minority, and their part in the war wasn't all that important.
I'm a cod fan all the way. But this looks sooooo much better then infinite warfare.
Reilly Len it is
Reilly Len this is the first mission of the campaign, and its the only good one the rest suck. The multiplayer is boring af too. Im a battle field fan and this dissapoints me.
Ares your more used to helicopters
ariean rachmat i liked bf 1 campaign
ariean rachmat yeah but it shows war as well.... black and white with emotions unlike how CoD have done it
RIP my Great Granduncle

Lest we forget....
I think those black men were the American Harlem Hell fighters.
TribalHARRY
Never Forget the men of the AEF or The Harlem Hell Fighters.
Ares14
Don't forget most decorated.
Truly captured the horror of war, at last.
yasss!!!! Truth!!!!
Itanimulli needs a bit of gore. I know it sounds terrible of me to wish that, but I don't like the clean corpse shit in these past few war games this year.....
hey you can switch people if you die
we need world at War gore
you should try red orchestra, shit gets intense sometimes in building fights.
This is emotional...
But please, as a french person, don't forget our man that did the trench warfare. Please give the french and russian soldiers the recognition they deserve, hope they also get a storyline as good as this one
Blue Steel But man They been fighting most time of the War...
Blue Steel Lol ok buddy.
Kio Shinozaki
I wish I could play as my maternal Grandfather, Edgied LeVeque, from Québec. He played a vital role as a translator, a gofer between French and English speaking forces. They should have a custom made soldier option.
100 000 americans dead
1 000 000+ french dead
Mr Rien
To be fair, that includes civilian casualties.
7:08
I wouldn't have shot him either.
Ew, a Meme "Lord".
Coitus Ergo Sum And a meme lord is worse than a pony fucker?
Vanon 02
We die of Cancer quicker. Meme Lords are around for longer.
He probably would've been killed by a commanding officer. People with shell shock were seen as traitors, and were executed for desertion usually.
Coitus Ergo Sum I'd say that's a good thing
Am I the only one who doesn't really give a shit what the race of the main character is?
Actually, in this case race doesn't exist but ethnicity does !!
its dumb, its ww1, this guy would be a cook.
Its just historic authenticity. There wasnt a lot of blacks in WW1 and especially not on the front lines. I dont care personally but some do
Where is the french army?
Chuck Buskee doubtful, since it appears that was the only combat regiment. i just researched them, and then i researched other ww1 black combat regiments and found only them.
I love how they used first person style in this movie, i will surely watch it.
what movie?
lol nice joke
Hardcore Henry
Hardcore Henry WW1 Edition.
Hey, but another Henry dies in the video
+Thiago M. Otaku Henrys Great Great Great Great granpah
Battlefield 1 make me think about how war is cruel.
I love how the names are randomized.
Now if it did that in MP, said who you were, it would be amazing tbh.
The Ultra-Gamer the names are names of real people
The Ultra-Gamer these were the actual names of the Harlem Hellfighters
The first fps game where I'm going to feel bad about shooting people.
GunFuMaster yah especially the fact that there real people were shooting
Dude, you should play Spec Ops: The Line....That's all I have to say about that...
GunFuMaster I feel ya
this is more like a simulation of ww1, u play as the real soldiers who fought in the real battle but now in game.
GunFuMaster Feel bad? You think your a soldier? 😂
Finally a game with a meaningful story
True and same.
Spec Ops: The Line story send their regards.
what about bfbc2?
Lol what? I don't even know where to start.
BFBC2 has also a great campaign. For me, the Modern Warfare Trilogy and Spec Ops The Line are the best campaign.
That first intro scene, with everybody screaming in pain... That just sent chills up my spine
Soo, any reason why there is appearantly no part in the campaign where you can play as a German Soldier?
Schwatvogel they lost and this my friend is the only fuckin reason
Joshua Simons g
Schwatvogel i thought there was, I know there was six and you would play as:
British
French
American
German
Austria
Ottoman
notformebeaky there are no Americans in singleplayer btw.
Ottoman, not Saudi
But come on, give me that ONE German guy!
Main character is white
You have to remember that germany is evil, thats fundamental. You dont want to play the evil ones, right ?
***** What do you mean? We all know that. We know there were blacks present in WW1. The problem is't that they are in the game, just that they are showing one small unit on European theatre, when they could've shown more of them fighting in Africa.
After all, they have an "Bedouin" campaign in Arabia, why focus on Europe, when they could've shown Africa, which is often ignored in video games?
where the fuck is the kingdom of serbia? i know how you feel with the french.
ignoratntttt
I prefer this over jet packs, wall jumping, space, and looney tunes weapons any day of the week. It looks fantastic!
That’s BF1 for you
this campaign was actually amazing. Love that it showed the true horrors of WW1 - having the dates of the deaths just added to that grim feeling. loved it!
>It ended nothing
Pretty sure the Russian Imperial Family would disagree
The Piano Maker yay communism -_-
omg dice finally make a good campaign
The bad company games had an good campaign...
Hum Bad Company?
+Frakster Bad Company was awesome!
we don't talk about hardline
True bad company had a good one
TheWholeWorldChannel Did you just not read what I wrote? That this was a real event that affected people's lives? I'm explaining the facts to you...
I loved that beautiful little moment where the two guys are pointing their guns at each other, but eventually put them down and called it equal.
I play Verdun on PS4 everyday and they got all weapons, units and factions and its a way smaller studio and budget, so why can't EA do it?
very true my friend
money? EA providing a game without planned DLC before the release date is 100% normal bro
This a bit OT, but is Verdun F2P? I didn't even know it was on PS4.
Man, you gotta love the respawning process, with the year of the person's birth and death along with the name, gotta love that about the game :):)
Because EA is greedy and people keep supporting their greed by buying premium and dlc.
This might be the first campaign ever in a game to capture the horrors of war. You as the player see the countless amount of death, brutal beatings, soldiers who just stand still in shell shock, the atmosphere sets up a deathly feel, people dying all around you, I can go on forever. I know I will have someone talking about how it is historically inaccurate, but god people this is one emotional campaign.
no call of duty world at war was
Can't they both be???
I love so much how they put happy music in with a fight scene. I really love that effect so much!
It's been a year and I still get goosebumps when I play this intro
Can't we just play as the germans for once?
I wanna play as kaiser wilhelm
you would not get to shoot any guns playing as hitler though as he was a runner
oh ok
play as me? :3
Haha, that would be funny - in the campaign you take a bullet to the arse and complain about the world being cruel, people being ignorant and then practise stances in the mirror to look cool and strong when you hold your speeches infront of drunk men in bierkellers. :D
Did anyone else get cancer by scrolling down
Nikolas Dominguez yeah a bunch of racists kkk people
Apparently the fact that black people exist is something to get worked up about.
They are bunch of fkin rpg players.. jumpin on the BF1 bandwagon & complaining about blacks. its a fkin FPS, not rate my color.
Nikolas Dominguez just a little
Scew people who care about equality and moving towards a world with less meaningless hate right?
11:36 this is the part that realy warm my heart
This reminds me of that ending battle in valiant hearts. Awesome :)
I wouldn't shoot a person who is shell shocked just standing in the open.
you would be dead in real battlefield
There was a soldier who went insane during the battle and was just walking around in the middle of the fight and nobody shot him. That was during the first Chechen war. True story
It is mentally hard to shoot such people because they are defenceless especially in the close combat, don't forget that most of soldiers are just ordinary people
about 30% of all shots fired in WWII were missed on purpose cause people dont naturally wanna kill other people without reason...
VonFreklstein Haiti had been independent for a hundred years! Learn some history smh
Yeah with an American accent lmfao?
When you die, do you come back as a different soldier?
only in the first mission.
for the rest the single player campaign pretty much sucks it seems
there are even parts that you actual have to try to get killed
PDVism j
Not so much "come back": when a soldier you control dies; he is dead and that is the end of the war for him, and thus so ends your perspective from him. You merely shift to the perspective of another soldier who is alive and still fighting.... until he too dies and you shift to yet another soldier's perspective.
Continue ad nauseam...
11:25 - 12:45 is the part you're looking for. You're welcome.
BackfallGenius that scene is so powerful 😭🤝👏🏽🙌🏽
First character is black and everyone goes nuts, this makes me sad : p
Yeah it is sad.
Nerf Guy - Call of Duty Battlefield and more! They're just insecure.
You people know nothing about history. Less than 1% of all who fought in the war were black. Less than 1%.
let's play the zulu war with chinese natives
It's like when they announced Finn as a main character in Star Wars all over again. Hell I don't see an issue with it. If you've played GTA chances are you've played as a black guy.
It's amazing to think if i was born 100 years prior (1896 instead of 1996) i would've been in this war 😮😮
an infant on the battlefield, now I've seen everything
U would be to young to join the army though
Continuedgrunt Shoe They drafted at 18
CM Kruger right, sorry i'm an idiot
Beatfull1, have some fucking respect, this wasn't a fictional war. Not some Call of Duty horseshit.
After watching this I can surely say, R.I.P. CoD. Thanks for giving me an awesome childhood.
Taking over another soldiers life is a real impactful and neat way of handling death.
This might be the first *Historical* shooter where you'll feel shitty throughout the story instead of "High octane action and extreme violence!"
Edit: People don't see the 5th and 6th comment already, so.. I already know Spec Ops The Line was the first. Just Saying.
Same man.
I know right the whole time I was like this is make me feel uncomfortable even though when I play any other war game out there I don't feel bad for shooting fictitious soldiers.
Erich TV That's exactly how I felt! I actually had to pause it for a bit and step out. It was too disturbing.
yeah I can't believe I'm going to say this but I'm going to have a hard time playing the single player just like when I played dead space 2 only for different reasons lol.
IncoRabbit first? Spec ops the line
I love this whole " In the end all soldiers are victims" aspect of this game it shows the true unforgiving brutality that was WW1, my respect to all the soldiers who died no matter what side they were on, it's the people at the top who are evil bastards.
Love the transition from one soldier to the next when you get killed 😎
Thanks for the graphics and the story itself it created a realistic feeling to us of how bloody the war was and how these heroes survived it
Wow is the only word to describe this game. This might finally be the war game that actually represents war.
The combat and grittiness is quite good however the battle structure is not accurate, if there was more trench combat then yes. But I see what you mean it does look quite real in a sense
Dude it was not all trench combat.
Wow. This game is finally going to be proof SJW culture has infected everything.*
Fixed the original post for you.
For real man, this gameplay was hard to follow since it was all over the place and hectic which is probably exactly what this war was like.
exactly. Harsh and unrewarding. Too bad they keep making easy games. Games are meant to be hard.
Who is actually excited for the game and not caring that the character is black
Not me.
me for sure
The Feared One thank you.
Austin Harness for?
The Feared One your original comment its exactly what I was thinking :)
When I played this I had just finished watching the HBO miniseries The Pacific and this reminded me of Okinawa
I am amazed..... Looks beautiful. And getting to live the drama and desperation of a soldier? Thank you DICE!
+Gustajuy it's a video game.
dznArro You don't think I know this?
These days people get stress and trauma from youtube comments.
Finally a smart comment
How in the flying fuck is this propaganda IF THERES ONLY 1 BLACK MAN IN THE ALL CAMPAIGN
ikr these people are bitching about one black man without searching up the harlem hellfighters
black men had so little to do with ww1 that they might as well have pit women in the front lines. Oh wait! The most well known women regiment was russian, and rusia isn't in the game. Neither is france. So let mw get this strait, ww have black men fighting in the front lines, but there are no french or russians?
Next thing you know is you can't play as a german...
Sorry i dont speak taco
Best captured action with music in background. Cant find anything like this here. Thanks
I'm like the only one who likes it when they miss shots it makes it more realistic cause I'm pretty sure soldiers missed more shots than they killed
this Campaign Gameplay made me cry ;_;
Me too.. ;~; I wasn't expecting it to be so emotional. It may not be entirely accurate but it really does show how horrible the first world war was.
Not entirely accurate? This gameplay is soooo far from the first world war 1 this makes me cry
Mistery Guy Leonardo AHAHAHAHAHA WHAT A BABY!!
You gotta love how you switch to another soldier right after you die. I'm really hyped for this game but my only problem is that EA is involved.
Are you suprised that EA is involved in their biggest franchise?
Adam Smith what I meant was that I'm sad about the fact that you have to pay a lot just for the "full" BF1 experience (because EA). But I guess even without dlc, the game will (hopefully) still be fun to play.
__Rex PowerDoge__ yeah it makes the respawn more realistic, and you understand how fast one can die in war. Only thing that could make it better is if there was a random animation for each new soldier to get a quick backstory and get attached
__Rex PowerDoge__ how much regarded can you get fuckstick?! so what if EA is a part of this! fuck some people want a bullet so badly
__Rex PowerDoge__ i like that to
i dont know y, i like to watch this gameplay again and again
1:00 JVAIS T'SAIGNER
badass French
who else was haunted by the music in the beginning with oh ya know that Harlem hellfighter smashing that German's skull open with a rock or the French officer being bayoneted in the hand but then continues to beat that german to death with the same hand eugghhh
j xandofar I love that background song. I'd like to know the name
Dfullest Gamer the name of the song is dream a little dream of me by Margot
Dfullest Gamer j
I thought it was by Louis Armstrong, but the voice sounds like Doris Day
***** No the Harlem Hellfighters were an American regiment hence the khaki uniforms but they were given to the French army as a throw away, thats why they have the Adrian helmets :)
Frankpolly then... will I play as a woman in the front lines? oh... no? well then,... hear that? Its your PC theory dying in agony
you will play as a woman aswell, dont be ignorant
The Clown you will play as a woman, in the arab revolt against the ottomans. i am against PC but this is not a matter of black vs white, this is a matter of having respect for everyone who fought in war. and it wasn't just white vs white. there were enough minority races that were taken from their colonies to fight in the european conflict, and you can't just deny their effort in the war. now just shut up, the campaign can last up to 8 hours and you will only play as an african american unit for 12 minutes - the minutes you play as a brittish tank crew. so about 6 minutes of the game is you playing in a black unit.
Who the fuck cares?
The campaign looks amazing, not only for the combat but more for the emotional look at the soldiers the names of real soldiers who lost their lives in that terrible war! Dice really went out for this game and helping the players understand the war and the lives it affected and the horrors the war brought!
The guy at 8:47 ;-;
Politically correct history. How... disappointing.
this isn't politically correct history, this is just correct history
You need to fucking read some history you idiot.
dice isn't liberal.
Soviets didn't exist during WW1, It was Russian Empire (quite the opposite)
I don't get it. These guys existed, and actually did a very good job on the front line. How is this not history? If anything, i'd be disgusted at the guns that they include in the game that never saw service.
These comments are very sad! The game looks amazing! It's not like they made up the the Harlem Hellfighters. Should no other group ever be given a chance to be represented in a game, because their race isn't the majority of what participated? Does that even make sense?
The thing is they included black men who had little to do with ww1 but completely ripped russians and french out of the game
joaquin ignacio narciso French and Russia will get more content than any other faction.
joaquin ignacio narciso sshow the fuck do you know has the game come out yet
Saurav Shrestha wut?
themagicman2010 in DLC right? Sorry but i don't feel like paying extra money to play as one of the main nations in the war
This intro is haunting, I get goosebumps everytime I watch it. War is truly hell.
This is so cool! It's like the short-lived Wii U Zombies game where when you die, you don't respawn, you just become a different person.
this campaign fucks over every CoD trash campaign.
Black ops 1 and 2, MW2, MW3, and AW had good campaigns
yeah, we need the cpt price again, #weneedMW4
hell nooooo you must be crazy fam
And every CoD before MW had good campaign as well.
this guy is crazy to think of something like that and the campaign look good but we still haven't played it yet and we don't know if the campaign actually going to be good
It's good that the Harlem Hellfighters get the recognition they deserved👌👌
Rashad Johnson it's good everyone in here got recognition
Josh D agreed but people don't know what blacks had to go through to just fight for their country back then...
Can't stop replaying the beginning.
that scene were the two soldiers spare each other was really beautiful
