Probably the easiest way is to upload the blink sketch to it and hook up an LED with resistor to the desired pin. I haven't had any of the 84's doa but I've had a few bad 85's. The 85's are easier to test since there is AVR Programmer available. www.sparkfun.com/products/11801?_ga=2.161810876.1244419232.1614573475-1450823769.1614573475
Not bad for a train set guy =) all poking aside, thanks for the video, im very fluent on boot loading a bare attiny85 with micronucleus (zero delay bootup) and sketching out in arduino but i had a handful of the 84's collecting dust so its time to build a jig and boot the 84's!!! Thanks Mr.Tom =) subbed!!!

Thanks for the links. Only issue with them; it states a delivery time of 60 days. What's your experience with them? Longest I've seen from China is 3 weeks
@@TomsTrainsandThings varies a lot, I have received within a week. On average it usually is 14-20 days, sporadically longer. It is a pity that the bare 85 and 84 are relatively expensive coz I love using them
I learned that I ain't got a clue to what your talking about... I'm pretty much computer dumb!!! I know how to turn mine on and off and how to find you tube face book and email after that I know nothing.... My kids say that at my age I know enough... :(
Great video. Very informative and thorough.
Glad it was helpful!
what you think can we use the Raspberry Pi Pico to program ATtiny84?
Do we need to load bootloader first- before loading the led sketch?
i have a problem ''avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature.
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
this check.
'' why?
Make sure you have the correct Board, Processor, and Clock selected under the Tool Menu
Is there a way to test newly purchased ATtiny84's before use?

Thanks Tom. I found this last night. ruclips.net/video/ZGLFW_0lnew/видео.html
It’s out of circuit testing with a multimeter.
sir can you make a video describing how to use oled display with attiny84
I'll look into it. need to get an OLED display first.

Thanks for the kind words and subbing Jeremy.
no more fritize?
I'll have one up on my web site shortly. tomstrainsandthings.com/projects/
Still waiting for the video “How to program Arduino to not burn your toast”
I don't have any problems with my toast burning when I put the bread in the toaster. I'll have to work on the Arduino toaster thingy!
Very interesting. Sadly a single attiny84 is more expensive than an Arduino pro mini clone so using the 84 is like robbing yourself
Thanks, if you have a link for a Pro Mini under $2.00, kindly share it so others can benefit from the savings also.
