Actually the first portion of the song is Zac, you can hear when it switches to Drew. Same with Breaking Free.

@@karish.6303 yep the reason he didn’t sing all of it was the songs were written for a tenor voice and Zac leans more baritone. So to lend to the character they had him sing the beginnings to make it flow better. It’s a noticeable switch if you are listening for it. Breaking free is easier to tell than Start of Something New.

To correct Kaylee, that wasn't actually Zac Efron that sang "Start of Something New" in HSM1. He lip-sang to the recording of Drew Seeley. Drew was supposed to be Troy, but had to back out and so the cast Zac Efron in his place. Due to it being so late in the game, they couldn't re-record Zac singing the songs plus he couldn't hit the higher notes very well. So they just went ahead with the original recordings of Drew and had Zac lip-sing. Sorry to be technical, but that's actually who sang the song lol
Here’s the thing the part that they chose for Bare Necessities is not the actual song in the movie. It is some sort of slow part from a completely different part of the movie. It is not the regular Bare Necessities song.

Love the use of Disney clips. However even though we’re a Disney family, my 12 year old son would be upset that all the guys got “Let it Go!” He hates that song.
I can honestly say I have never seen High School Musical and I am actually really proud of that, despite the fact that I am only a year younger than Vanessa Hudgens. The ironic thing is I liked Glee.
