FYI never get pre shredded cheese, especially at the dollar tree. They have real cheese blocks there you can grate yourself. The main reason I wouldn't buy it at the dollar tree is it's often not cheese just like their sour cream isn't sour cream. If you look the bags of shredded cheese says something like "cheese product" I forget exactly but it wasn't cheese when I looked at the ingredients and neither is sour cream. I gourmet it up at the dollar tree often, but you need to be way more selective IMHO. Never buy processed food from dollar tree, stick to mainly whole foods with the exception of a few things like the egg noodles. They have good food if you look and visit often. I mainly stick with frozen and canned veggies and fish like the frozen mussels but other staples include the canned oysters, herring and sardines, bacon, rice, beans. I'll give you a free example of how you can eat delish and healthy without any work. Two cans of Margaret Holmes tomatoes and okra, 1 large can of sardines(not the flat cans). Pour full contents of all three cans including the brine in the sardine can. Pour into pot stir and heat. It tastes like Manhatten clam chowder. The only put off may be the edible bones in the sardines but it's minimal and actually a super nutritious way to get calcium. That's the easiest healthy recipe I have a ton of recipes tho. FYI sometimes I add a little extra frozen corn or frozen okra also from the dollar tree to that soup recipe just to make it more chunky but you don't need to
Thanks so much Daniel and I’m pinning your comment so others will see it. I can’t believe this video is 7 years old☺️I no longer use the sour cream from Dollar Tree and if I’m honest I rarely go to DT since the price increase. Thanks again❤
@@FRUGALNISTA thanks for the reply. Yea it's a lot different than 7 years ago. In some ways it's worse now but in others it's better. I stick mainly to whole foods there. I also use their frozen fruit. It's great for yogurt and smoothies. It's still a useful store but places like Aldi and Lidl are literally cheaper than the dollar tree in many cases. Anyways thanks for the video I do like to see people offering budget gourmet ideas. I personally love to eat healthy and find cheap ways to do it. I often say fresh healthy whole food is gentrified today and it isn't that accessible to people with lower incomes or large families. Anything we can do to show others how to eat healthy on a budget is a good thing
I sooo love how you put it all fancy in the baskets! Also I love that your big on expiration dates! Cause I'm big on that as well! I'm. So glad I found you! Love it!
My local dollar tree has Cinnabon Gooey Bites and they are SO GOOD!!! They are in the frozen section. Just microwave them for 40 seconds. Highly recommend!
Great haul! I love it when you show the food stuff from the Dollar Tree it's how I learn what to purchase and what not! I will definitely be trying the blueberry muffins and some other things you hauled that are new to me! Hugs and blessings to you! :)
I agree I find lots of great food items at the Dollar Tree. Sometimes you get something not so good but it is a dollar. I loved seeing what you came up with. Thanks for sharing!
Nicely done!! I really love how you took your time with this haul and narration. I love buying food staples and snacks at DT. My fave staples are the broth, large cans of diced tomatoes & soy milk and bread if I can find it. Some of my families' favorite snacks from DT are their pretzels, cheese crackers, Freshly's sweets and Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pops!! Have an amazing weekend!! 🐰🐥🐊
I worked for dollar tree for 13 years I definitely think there food is getting much better with.more name brands!! I love the Texas toast. u did a wonderful job with the basket. with showing how u can put together a nice food basket. tfs. have a blessed day.
Frugalnista -- this is a great video! I love the Dollar Tree and purchase food there all the time. My favorites are the following: Snapps frozen snacks (cheese sticks and jalapeno cream cheese poppers). I have seen them at Wal-Mart for higher price. I also love the Red Baron frozen individual pizza. For a buck, it is a perfect lunch. I enjoy the Little Dutch Maid cookies; that brand was around when I was a little kid, and I have LONG passed childhood. When they carry the sweet potato ripple chips, I stock up on those. The canned white meat chicken (canned in Mankato, MN not far from where I live) is really great in casseroles, or added to canned chicken soup to give it extra protein. New to DT are Dole boxed soups with no preservatives -- my faves are the garlic tomato basil and the sweet corn soup. Best to you. I loved your video -- I love all the hauls. Thank you.
Great haul. You turned me on to the Black Forest gummy bears awhile back. Love love love them. Haven't been able to find them at my Dollar Tree lately tho. Thanks for sharing.
+The Life Of This Housewife I know that's right...I guess I could understand if you think that the food is subpar or something but some of this is just like the items in the grocery store. TFW!

I love your videos! We haven't got them here, but we have something like it. Agree so much, buying food there saves a lot, and can achieve if not better the taste of the original. Used to plump out soups, stews, salads etc can be fantastic. You're a champion. Thank you so much for sharing. xoxo
Holy cow!!! I am loving the Dollar Tree Gourmet basket...truly looks gourmet. I could have used one of those baskets to enter into the silent auction at school. You been doing your thang with the videos....forgot to tell you I was loving the backdrop you had in the Spring Dollar Tree video. I have to look out for the Country Time Lemonade to go packs. Our family looooves lemonade. We usually get the Crystal Light to-go packs.
+Veri Keri Keri vendors send these to us from Art's job LOADED with "real" gourmet items every Christmas. I end up re-using them because they are so big and pretty. I'm trying to get back to the vids again especially when I feel like doing them (smile)...
love ur videos! Just found u about 1 week ago and have watched almost all of them. Looking forward to more new ones. Also love to see ur dtrs . I am definitely going to check out the Dollar Tree food items.
I'm a new subscriber. I loved your Dollar Tree Gourmet haul video! I also buy food at the DT all the time. So many people think that the food is there because it's expired or it's somehow of lesser quality than food at the grocery store. I love to get the double packs of Miss Claudia's Bakery French baguettes. You can keep them in the pantry and pop them in the over for 8 minutes for fresh tasting, crusty bread to go with soups and salads. They are a product of Holland and have no preservatives.
I would have never thought of purchasing food from DT, other than my favorite roasted red peppers, but since I consider you a friend ( in my head) I will look a little closer at what they have to offer, thanks :)
Great haul! Like you, I am also 51 and have managed to live a healthy life eating the occasional snack foods. The Dollar Trees in my area do not have the cold food/freezer section. When I asked why, I was told its because of their proximity to Walmart and/or a grocery store next door. It must be some kind of contractual agreement or something. Each week when I go grocery shopping my first stop is ALWAYS The Dollar Tree. This drastically reduces my bill when I go Walmart to get the rest of my groceries. Thank you for all you do to keep us all on budget.
i have definitely been stretching my grocery budget by shopping at Dollar Tree and 99 cent store! I was really surprised at how good those bakery fresh cookies were - my son loves the chocolate chip - we take them out of pack and put in an air tight container and they stay yummy. Love this video!!
Today was the first day I bought food in the "fridge/freezer" section of my local DT...and I was shocked at how much more stuff they have now. I started throwing everything in the cart I could. My baby and I love breakfast food and can go through two dozen eggs a week. I was so happy to find decent eggs for a $1. Even Jennie O turkey bacon for me...baby still eat regular bacon and I found him some smoked bacon. I thought I would come to YT and see how many others grocery shop at Dollar Tree. And I'm glad that see I'm not alone lol. I will be subscribing.
Great haul! I don't get food from the Dollar Tree because of health issues. Just about everything you purchased I can no longer eat. I try to only eat what is called "good carbs" like "live" breads, dried beans, berries, veggies. I have to read the labels carefully now and count carbs closely so there is very little in the Dollar Tree that I can eat now. Snacks for me now are things like celery and peanut butter, carrots, plain Greek yogurt, "KIND" bars. Little to no processed food. If I had not been so wreckless with my diet, it wouldn't have to be so strict now, but that's the consequences of years of bad eating for me.
+L Boston (Boston Beans) I can sit for hours just reading and glancing at the pictures in cookbooks. I've been doing that since I was a little girl. TFW!
Hey Vivica!!!! Thanks for the shout out 😘I'm a witness that DT food items are good. Check those expiration dates and go for it! The blueberry muffins were good, but they were even better when I added real blueberries to it. You will love it with your tea☕️. The corn muffins are even better. Great haul!
I didn't know they had bagels! Thanks! I'll check my store for them. They only, in the last 6 months, have gotten a refrigerated section. I'm still checking it out. Thanks again. Oh, and the Madison Street Horseradish Mustard - we use that constantly. Love it!
Yep ou DT sells the Schmidt brand breads now...the same truck that delivers to the grocery store delivers to DT...THE SAME BREAD. Love getting it for a buck. TFW!
DT has great food a lot of times. I got a cheese stuffed tortellini from there and my husband loved it. Even better, I saw it at the grocery store later that week for over 3 dollars a bag!
I absolutely love dollar tree for food! They stock a lot of good stuff. Check out the eggrolls & the pepper jack cheese! The pizza sauce is awesome too!
Hey Ms.Frugalnista, I jus recently start buying food from the dollar tree, I was impress with ur vlogs along with some other vlogs from dollar tree and i was convince and i like it very much lol..
+Kisha Parker Kisha I use to be the same way a few years ago...but most DT are doing better with keeping stores clean and now they have national brands for a dollar that I would be buying anyway...why not?!...Thanks so much for watching.
Awesome! I do buy food from the dollar tree I try to make sure it's American made and I watch the date like you said. I haven't however purchased meat and I've stopped buying toys.
I love it! I've made those muffins and they're really good. I buy the whole wheat pasta from DT (Woo... $1 wheat pasta!). We buy spices and nuts/seeds, coffee and tea, and the hard candies all the time! I make foodie gift baskets and always include those Pirouette cookies. And as for the "haters" I eat a plant based diet and still can find food at DT. Great video!
I agree they have really stepped up their game. I've made my hubby a dollar tree food guy that's one of our first stops when we need things like pasta, snacks, and canned things and spices
I always go to the dollar tree and the 99 cent store. I love those stores! I always cruise around and look for name brands too. I am glad you put up the pizza shells, because my son loves pizza. I will be headed to dollar tree tomorrow! He can make one of these and pop it in the toaster oven. This will be a healthy snack.
I am an ol Single Guy (Empty Nester) ... what I love about Dollar Tree (besides the price) is the smaller portions... less waste and less waist line... there are deals to be had at the Tree Thank you for your reviews
Yes, I enjoy picking and see what they have regularly and new. I go in there a lot just to get a few items every week. I wish we could get the bagels you all have. They will have Natures Own if you can catch it. I going to pick up some food items tomorrow we are slam out. I hope to find that cookbook. I wish I knew you were looking for the Southern Living books cause I think I collected them all the past couple of months, I would have sent them to you. Tfs!
I also buy DT food regularly and stop there before the grocery store. Just because food is more expensive at a grocery store doesnt mean it's better. Thanks for showing this.
I would buy food too if my dollar tree had some of them things you bought lol. I'm like in shocked 😮. It's time to step your game up Connecticut Dollar Tree
I buy pickles, Welchs grape bars, Friskies cat food, Farmer John sausage, Campbells soups, spices, and more. It allows you to stock your pantry for times when you can't go shopping.
I buy all kinds of goodies from the DT. We love the Oatmeal Cookies you showed I have 4 packs sitting in my cupboard as we speak. They also have the X X Large El Monetery Beef and Bean Burritos. They sell these at convenience stores for $2.99 to $3.99. I stock up when I find them in. Edwards frozen single pies are good too. And CinnaBun single serve microwave bowls yummmm!
Based on your recommendation I started getting the Black Forest Gummies. Now that I'm hooked it's been at least two months and no restock at the three DTs near me. I gete water enhancers, frozen fruit for smoothies and candies. But will try the Texas Toast and pizza crust and sauce. Thanks.
I've got to go back to my Dollar Tree stores.. We have a Dollar General and a Family Dollar in our town. I have to go to about 5 other towns around me....
+FRUGALNISTA * Lol lol!!!! The Dollar Tree in Waxahachie,Tx ( My husband and I live in Midlothian,Tx about 10 minutes Southeast of us) had the nice size egg rolls that I eat 1 each lunch during the week and if my husband is working. I have only eaten the chicken but they are really good!!!
I just got home from Dollar Tree. If yours has the Gerber organic and non-organic baby food pouches, they ring up at 3 for $1. A $2.50 off 8 coupon came out yesterday(printable). I was only paying 14 cents for 8 packs! The Hormel pepperoni is also .50 after either the .50 off 1 or $1 off 2 coupons. Every once in awhile they get Cascadian Farms cereal, and right now there's $1 and .75 coupons, and Ibotta rebates to go with it (I didn't find any today).

+evelyn jones mmmm yes but I have to put myself on restriction girl I could eat the whole box (smile).
Awesome! I do buy food from the dollar tree I try to make sure it's American made and I watch the date like you said. I haven't however purchased meat and I've stopped buying toys.
+Anita FordAnitaF YES to the made in the USA stuff too!
+Kestrel Ravensong Thank you very much...appreciate you watching!
Great Haul! TFS!
+Teresa Petro TFW!
I agree they have really stepped up their game. I've made my hubby a dollar tree food guy that's one of our first stops when we need things like pasta, snacks, and canned things and spices
+LilChicken210 Yes just to save a little bit and sometimes I just don't feel like going to the grocery store. TFW!
+FRUGALNISTA totally agree.
YEP Candace, so easy and my little one even loads here pizza up with veggies (smile). TFW!

I am an ol Single Guy (Empty Nester) ... what I love about Dollar Tree (besides the price) is the smaller portions... less waste and less waist line... there are deals to be had at the Tree

Tfs!
+MY LIFE FULL OF HOPE Awww thanks for thinking of me Hope!
I also buy DT food regularly and stop there before the grocery store. Just because food is more expensive at a grocery store doesnt mean it's better. Thanks for showing this.
+Sandy OToole so true...tfw!
Dollar Tree has really stepped up their game and yes I shop for foods there. Thanks for the video. I subbed.
I only buy plant base items or what's suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

I buy pickles, Welchs grape bars, Friskies cat food, Farmer John sausage, Campbells soups, spices, and more. It allows you to stock your pantry for times when you can't go shopping.
Agree Mary with all of those items. My hubby pick up cat food for the stray cats at his job from DT. TFW!
I totally agree with buying potato chips from there. It's just me and my husband here. Too much waste buying the bigger bags. Nice video.
+Zoe Small We use to trash so much before I started with the smaller bags...it's just enough for 2 to share and no more waste...TFW!
I love DT food!!

Thanks.

I buy DT food. They have lots of foods to choose from. When I lived alone I could buy smaller amounts there and didn't have to waste a bunch of food.
+Crafty Jacki Agree and despite me having 2 children sometimes I still end up tossing items...TFW!
I love your videos
THANK you!!!
+The Kneady Homemaker Savings...that's how you do it! TFW.
+FRUGALNISTA I just posted a video about it :-)
Very nicely done
