    Of course, always read the manual, but I'm confident this is installed correctly. 👍
    15. FOR CHARGING BATTERIES WITHIN A VEHICLE USING THE PERMANENT RING LEAD CONNECTOR LEADS
    a. Check to make sure that the permanent ring lead connectors are a suitable size to connect to the battery screw clamp connections.
    b. Connect the red ring lead to the positive (+) and the black ring lead to the negative (-) battery connection. Ensure that the connection is not loose.
    c. This battery lead can be permanently left in position on the battery and the end connector can be positioned somewhere suitable that will allow for a quick and convenient connection to the Oximiser when required. The leads provided are supplied with a weatherproof cap to ensure that the connections do not become corroded.

    Good unboxing upload.
    Got one yesterday. Leads too short to the wall socket, no bulldog clips and no wall mounting bracket. I bought an extension lead...Oxford OF705 Maximiser Oximiser Charger 3m Extension Lead off eBay.
    Otherwise it's disappointing after owning an Oxford 360T.
    Does the job tho. I just like moaning! 🙈

      I’ve actually switched the connections on mine to SAE type. I didn’t get on with the oxidiser ones and they ended up corroding and breaking. I’ve also changed bikes since this vid!

    I have just fit the battery charger to the battery running the cable under the seat but when I plug this in nothing works on the charger? Possitive and negative are connected correctly. This can either be connected to the mains or just freely left connected to the bike. Anyone else had issues?

    • @motobyx9101
      @motobyx9101  3 года назад

      Ben Gibb sorry. Not sure. I’ve not had this issue. If it’s a new charger perhaps return/exchange may be a fault with the unit.

    Thanks for your info SV Biker ...
    Just a quick question, after awhile of charging my Amps indicates 0.0 amps & my Volts 13.8 ..
    The "maintain" icon is on ,
    Is my battery gone past its sell by date ??
    Regards 🇿🇦

      good question. Check the manual but I think its fine and just 'cycling; the battery.
      The charger is set up to charge, and discharge slightly the battery in a cycle (don't quote me on exactly the cycle tho). So I guess it is now just waiting and reading the voltage without charging. I think at some point this will then discharge the battery (volts will go down), then it will apply charge (amps will go up) until target charge is realised.
      Batteries want to be cycled - 'used (discharged) and charged in order to keep them in good order.
      Does this make sense?

    As a new rider how often would you recommend charging the battery to keep up fully charged

    • @motobyx9101
      @motobyx9101  3 года назад +1

      Not an expert. But will depend on the battery and your riding. As you ride the alternator should keep the battery topped up. But if you have loads plugged in it may not.
      And if you go long periods between rides/many short rides that will likely reduce battery charge.
      And the type of battery will also have an effect on charge holding.
      Really does depend. I tend to keep mine plugged in on this smart charger through the off season. And then through summer months I’ll plug it in as and when I remember. Maybe through the week if I’m not commuting etc.
      Hope this helps a bit.

    Do you need to leave this powered on all the time? I will be leaving the bike parked up for the winter

    • @motobyx9101
      @motobyx9101  3 года назад

      NishyMusic I don’t normally park up the bike for winter. Tend to use it on and off all year round. So the charger tends to stay on most of the time. 👍🏻

    the negative terminal of the charger should be properly connected to the main frame and not directly on the battery pole, don't you think?

      Walter Espera what you say is what it says in the manual. Anyone have advice on this?

      good question, but I'm confident the video is correct. For the permanent install kit its different to a one-off charge. The manual states:
Ensure that the connection is not loose.

    wouldnt you need to pull the vent/fill caps off the battery to disperse any gases while using this? or is that just with "proper" chargers?

      The manual talks about the risks, use in well ventilated areas, make sure charger is below the level of the battery etc. But it’s certainly designed to be left plugged in. It constantly monitors the condition of the battery and adjusts charge accordingly.
      Not something I have had an issue with but a good point and of course worth checking the instructions, bike handbook etc.

      sam macca yep I would strongly recommend it. Mine is plugged into the bike all the time. It’s ‘intelligent’ and so keeps the battery in good condition and always charges up ready to go!
