I luv this video! I am a dancer and I've only danced for about five years (which is a pretty late start, but my friends say that I'm a really good dancer). I wanted to audition for sytycd (or something dance related) but my parents say that there are alot of good people and it's alot of competition and since u got a late start, u might not get in. (which is really dissapointing bcuz I also wanted to audition for high school musical 4). My parents have been making me work out and exercise bcuz they say I'm getting fat or possibly fat already (and funnily enough my friends say that I'm one of the skinniest people they know). So I've felt very insecure about myself. I really related to this video bcuz now I think I have a chance in the dance industry(well maybe not) and I learned to embrace who I am (plus I luv megan batoon, who is one of my dance queens)
Family can be so harsh, while trying to be kind in such a backward attempt at protecting you. The thing with friend and family voices conflicting is that it can drown out your own internal voice. Those whispers guide you and it sounds like you are listening to those whispers and are looking up to great role models. Go for your dreams, reach high and you will have the experience and the learning to land on your feet, no matter what happens. You should be very proud of yourself and listen to yourself above anyone else. You are the best thing for yourself. Go Get 'em!

I am truly appreciative of Megan Batoon sharing her experiences about the cons of auditions, the recognition of her identity and her calling, and realizing that something that many would cast a blind eye to can actually be very impactful - a similar process I have been experiencing. I'm a firm believer that everything that we go through is not only for our own learning and growing, but to also help others in similar situations and to help them find solutions and confidence outside of what others may deem as roof-top success. this video is like the video that megan watched during one of her auditions that she talked about in this vid... and im very inspired, i was never and will never be one of the thin girls and it was an insecurity of mine, but Megan was really one of my inspirations because i've watched her from so many years back and seeing her now being the best person inspires me more. i've loved dancing since i was a kid but until i grew up I was too afraid to show it because sometimes when i dance i look at myself in the mirror and i feel like i dont look good and im not good in dancing and all that... i dont know.. megan inspires me so much! thank you for this video!! sorry for the drama hehehe

dance has alot to do with presentation so obviously id expect them to judge your bodies. If you're hiring dancers to perform in front of potential business partners or just to set an example of the business, the dancers should be in tip top shape. No one wants to see an obese chick twerk. This whole idea of fat pride is stupid. You arent perfect, whatever shape you are and dont endorse obesity. Its not that if youre fat, dance industry has to change. Its that if youre fat, you have to change. If your naturally slightly chunky then find ways around it. I know there are groups who prefer chunkier women. If not then collect a set of choreography's or performances into a portfolio and send it to everyone. There is really no point complaining about them 'objectifying' women.
Love the hell out of Megan's thighs... Glad they aren't small ;) Real talk tho, skinny legs are a pretty huge turn off for me haha... GET SOME MEAT ON YOUR BONES!

Hey, the minimum age for sytycd is 31. I don't think they care about a late start. They care about a good personality and good talent.
