I don't understand the racial aspect to this.. they crossed a highway and got hit.. why is this a racial thing? Can somebody please explain to me what this has to do with being native..? If you try to cross a highway you can get hit.. it happens to all people..
Perhaps because nobody in their right mind would cross a highway like that... Except possibly people who might have never seen a highway in their life. They might have thought the voie d'accotement was meant for pedestrians to use and ended up on it because they thought it was the only way of crossing to where they needed to go. That's the only explanation I can see.

This is horrible. They both were in the prime of their lives, only to be struck down by death machines on metal wheels. Looking at the map. That area barely has any service. And the highway they were killed on, has no pedestrian passes for miles. My deepest condolences to their families and their communities.

That part of Montreal is an industrial area. I used to work there a lot. It can be a lengthy walk to get to a pedestrian bridge or an underpass.
