Thank you for posting this video - it's helped me a lot.

This video was super helpful, but I've just a little note guys - you don't need to take any of the dash off. Pop the fuse cover off under the steering wheel and you can reach up and pull it straight out. I was able to sort my 04 out by grabbing one from a local scrappy and coding the key. You have to lay in a funny position to see up the hole and shine a torch to have a quick look, but you'll see the box straight away. Then reach up (the smaller your hands, the better! Mine are average and it was tight), press the central tab as shown here and pull down. It will pop straight out. 2 minute job that requires no tools or disconnections.

Thank you for this tip, I just changed mine and I was dreading taking apart the dash. It was a little awkward to get to the part but it worked out great.

Thanks for this video. Do you know if the key fobs will work on any civic from years 01-06? My dad wants a second fob for his car and I was wondering if I buy a second hand fob, does it matter which year of car it comes from?

I’m not totally sure, although I had no idea what year the key fobs I bought were from and they worked ok for me, if that info is any use

I have a question if anyone can help. I programme my remote and it works. If you leave it for a day it then forgets the remote and I need to programme again. I take it I’m not looking at a receiver issue

Unless the receiver is losing it’s back up causing it? Can’t see it being the fob

how de heck did you find out that bit of wizardry to reprogram the keyfob? good work and nice repair done there ! my jdm ep3 has a different keyfob - single button that locks and unlocks the car so im not sure that the process would work the same - but no matter what - nice work that you did there !

How did you test the locking unit that it doesnt work

    • @1BlueGhost

It wouldn’t remember the key fob at all no matter what. Couldn’t operate the central locking. It was as if it’s back up battery had expired.

Having the same issue as u nic....really doesn't pay to have the battery in the boot and letting the battery go flat after 6 weeks as the boot doesn't open at all 🤣. I'm gonna try and reprogramme original fobs. Failing that I'll have to take my console out. But as I've had it flocked with all my gauges in I don't want to do it 😅 EDIT.. it worked but didn't hold the data. Can reset it each time but I'll have to buy a fob and unit. Where did u get ures from buddy?

Got mine from Vtec junkies, module and fob. Still working great.
Yeah it really seemed to destroy lots on my car letting it go flat for 2 months, I’ve only recently fixed the alarm going off problem which wasn’t related to the module, fobs, or sensors. Crazy car.

@@1BlueGhost cheers for that I'll send them an email. Honda made sure that the car would be annoying as buggery to fix. I take it you decided to keep her in the end then? Next step for me is either 4wd conversion or paying through the nose for a sleeved block from cpl. 🙄

Yup the siren for the alarm involved one side of the rear removed just to get at it.
Awd would be mega, and also a built block. It’s only money!!!!!!! 😎

@@1BlueGhost Yeah I can't find the alarm module. My whole arm was in behind the side panel so no idea where they've fitted it. Will this keyless module work with the original key fob if programmed? I'm having no luck get a unit and fob on FB MP.

Yeah all my fobs work with the new unit so hopefully it will for you also. I think some alarm sirens were under the wiper panel but that was mostly LHD and American cars I think
