Hi Mellissa. I have been binge watching your shipping videos for about 3 weeks now, and am finally caught up. I am thoroughly enjoying them, and of course, learning lots. I have thought since I first saw you, that you remind me of my oldest daughter. You have the same color, thickness and what looks to be the same texture hair, your smiles are the same and one of the most outstanding things is your eyebrows! Both of you have perfect eyebrows! But the cutest thing was when I showed you to my husband, and while looking at you, he heard you, and burst out laughing, because you speak just like her. She enunciates very clearly (especially considering we are from south Louisiana, where most of us have drawls) and she is also soft spoken like you. We had a good giggle about all the similarities. When you mentioned in one of your videos with Bare that at one point you had been an egg donor, my interest was piqued, as my daughter has 1 daughter from a donor and 1 on the way from another egg donor. I checked their pictures though, and it wasn't you. I'll admit I was a little disappointed! Take care, and keep up the great work and inspiration!
My father in-law is a retired postal employee. He observed me trying to mail a Disney pin in a birthday card and was NOT happy about it. He said “lumpy” envelopes jam the sorter machines. I was bummed...thought I could get away with a first class stamp or two and instead paid $5.15 and mailed it in a jewelry box and poly bag. A couple lessons learned...1) don’t mail anything in front of my father in-law and 2) don’t be lazy trying to avoid the gated neighborhood hassle and just drop off the card and present in person. 😂😂😂
Hi Mellissa, as always, your shipping videos help me relax while I do some listings or just cannot sleep. Thanks as always, you are such a joy! Hugs to you and Bare! Pat
Thanks Ashley! I added it to the end of the video. I tend to not want to make my titles clickbait-y but I think I'm safe to add it to the end and see how that goes :)
I enjoyed having the alert when something was on the screen as I listen to these while working. I would prefer something other than the horn sound though. As always these continue to be my absolute favorite videos of yours. I was so glad to see one today.😊
Done! I think I just used a note from a random song I found but I was wondering if it was too quick of a note to be pleasant. Thanks for your advice Crystal as it will be easy for me to find something else :)
Love your videos, Mellissa---I look forward to watching them! I am also a reseller, mostly on Posh, but am cross listing to Ebay--learning and relaxing at the same time!! Thank you to you and your hubby!!
Just live your videos !! Today I sold a Lancôme lipstick (from my gift with purchase stash) and I wrapped it in yellow tissue paper with white Ribbon on each end - it came out cute and i thought of you and your fun wrapping!!! I also thought/ hoped my customer would have fun opening it!!
Melissa, if you look at the GUCCI and other runway shows, their models (the ones who are lucky enough to have hair like your Q-tip hair) are all over the runways. I love it....but you need to love it.
Hi Mellissa.. Thanks for sharing your video.. I look forward to your shipping videos.. I have learned alot from you about shipping. Say hello to Bare! God bless you..
Melissa, I so enjoy your videos along with your mom's as well. I'm trying to gather enough info to start eBay selling. You've mentioned your Dymo label printer. It appears to print out labels that are smaller (narrower) than the 5x8 inch ones I see sold by eBay. Does the Dymo accommodate different sizes of labels? I cannot tell from the ad descriptions and am afraid of making a mistake. I will probably go with regular USPS shipping until I know I can sell to some degree but eventually want to take advantage of their discounts. Thanks so much if you have time to respond. Linda
Hi Linda! I use the Dymo 450 Turbo and my mom uses the Dymo 450. Both take only smaller labels (approx. 2.5" x 7.5") and don't work with any other platforms besides Ebay. I have been using mine for years & years and I still love it. If you sell on any other platform (Etsy, Poshmark, Mercari, Paypal, Amazon, etc), you do need a 4" x 6" printer or you could use a regular inkjet or laser printer. But the Dymo 450 can be found on Ebay for under $50 and I have seen plenty go for under $25. The 4" x 6" Dymo, which is called the Dymo 4XL, goes for $200.
So you must purchase plain rolls of labels compatible with the Dymo model you have, rather than purchasing them from the eBay company? ( I'm sorry if this seems like a silly question.) And why cannot you not use these labels with Etsy please? Best wishes... Linda
@@lindamasson6885 I purchase the generic Dymo 99019 labels. You specifically need the 99019 size for printing with Ebay. They run about $6 per roll of 150 labels but I believe I buy lots of 12 rolls for $36ish. The Dymo 450 and 450 Turbo will not work with Etsy. You'd need to print Etsy labels to a regular printer, the Dymo 4XL (which also does Amazon, Ebay, Mercari and Poshmark labels) or the Rollo printer.
I just found you, I love how honest you are, and your beautiful packaging. I want to order from you just because I want to get your package! Going to have to figure out the whole PayPal thing though. Although I am sure my Son will help me with that!
Hi Melissa, Where do you get those clear zip bags from? The ones I have found on ebay so far are so expensive!!! I got my bubble wrap, scale and peanuts so far. I just ordered some of those mailers. Thursday I'm going to start listing. I'm so excited! You have helped me so much with these videos! Thank you!!!
I order them from Ebay in lots of 1,000-10,000 which means I don't buy them that often. My current ones made the trip from PA to FL which means I'm still using the original purchase from over 5 years ago! Here are some of the same bags in smaller lots :) Lot of 100 Clear zipper bags, 12x15: tinyurl.com/yayafpy5 Lot of 100 Clear zipper bags, 10x13: tinyurl.com/yb8l5twp
@@freshbloominclothing Hi Mellissa, thank you so much! I remembered after I sent you this message that I have nearly 3,000 t-shirt bags that I ordered for my very large dog. She passed away just after I renewed my order :-( but I thought, why not use those up first? But I will definitely check those out. The ones I have been finding on ebay are so expensive I thought maybe I just wasn't finding the bargains. I followed your moms advice and went through my house looking for things to sell and you wouldn't believe it! I have shopped on and off at thrift stores for myself, my mom and my foster kids. I went though my closets and found some designer items! And then I have things that are still very nice that I just don't wear anymore. I think I have enough to open a store with clothes and hard goods lol. Take care and God bless! xoxo
I'm sorry but I don't have those videos. Filming about once a week is all I can do right now. I am hoping to do more in the future but my health hasn't allowed that just yet. Ralli Roots has a great video which is recent: ruclips.net/video/n7SfqrFviFg/видео.html
I tried to wait until tonight to listen and watch, but, I was so excited, I had to watch it now! I will rewatch again tonight! LOL! I enjoyed the alert sound. We have TSC here, my late husband used to shop Blue Stem, and TSC, was not my favorite place to go with him, he turned over every bolt and screw in the place, I swear, but, I would give anything to have that opportunity again. Mom told me when I married to go anywhere he asked me to go, even when I did not want to go, or he would eventually stop asking, so I went! Thanks for another great entertaining video. Question... I notice ebay charges final value on shipping, so when you refund shipping costs, do you pay full final value on shipping cost to ebay?
Thank you for your comment! Yes, I still pay the full Ebay fees. Ebay needs to get on the ball ;) I just Googled Blue Stem as I hadn't heard of it. It sounds just as fun as Tractor Supply to me - which is not fun at all. But I can completely understand wanting that time back. I treasure Bare, my husband, and think about that often. Time goes so quickly and things change without any prior notice sometimes. I know you didn't mean it as a reminder but thank you. I just gave my husband an extra squeeze when he came back from running (my) errands.
I mostly buy them on Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0772DVC9B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 100 yards makes about 400 hair ties for me. I have also found some elastic at the Goodwill bins. The anchor print was brand new and found in the bins :)
I buy it on Amazon as Jillson Roberts tends to be pricey. Amazon has a bunch of prints that are on "close out" and they are $35 on Prime for 240 pieces. Still pricey but the quality is crazy good and the prints are so fun. Thank you! (If you are interested, search "Jillson Roberts tissue paper" close out on Amazon.
Hi Mellissa I have a mailman pickup question. I live in a rural area where mailbox is 1/2 mile away and post office never delivers packages. I have to go to town for them. When I become an Ebay seller, soon, do I take my packages to the desk at the post office to scan or can I just drop them in the shoot w/o scanning as I thought I could? Confused about what your mailman does when he picks up at your door. Does he scan them there at your door? Thx!
My husband and I lived in a very rural area in PA where our mailbox was down our driveway and then down a gravel lane/road. Our mail carrier picked up packages on our back porch which was SO nice! I would try to call or visit your local post office to see what they can do. You might be able to have them pick them up on a front/back door/porch area. But my post office would deliver packages so of course your area could be different. Do you have a PO Box or do they deliver mail to your home? It is just odd to me that they'd deliver mail but not packages. Now that we are down in FL, my mailer scans them when he picks them up but I have also taken them into the post office, where I just leave them at the counter. You can also slide them into the drop slot and they will scan them. There are so many choices when it comes to packages now which is awesome.
Love your videos. I have couple of questions. How do you get the smell out of thrifted bin clothes? Also, could you tell me why do you put so much detail into your packaging? Cards, ribbon...doesn’t this eat up your profits in the long run? Thanks!
Most of my clothing gets washed. So anything that comes from the thrift and is machine washable gets washed and dried (or, sometimes, hung to dry). We have some rods inside and out that almost constantly covered in drying clothing or clothing. LOL. My RUclips videos more than pay for the extra packaging and it makes shipping so much more fun for me. Most of my supplies (except the tissue paper) are found at the Goodwill bins or subscribers send me them. Plus, a lot of my items are purchased by subscribers who know I package items with care so they can experience the fun at home. I have a good many repeat buyers now and I don't dread shipping anymore. It won't make sense for everyone to wrap each item but I love it.
Yes, Paypal orders are different than Ebay. I post haul videos on RUclips. Someone can then email me to purchase an item and I send an invoice through Paypal. The item never needs to go on Ebay. I hope that helps :)
I only take Paypal right now. I know Ebay will be switching over to their own payment system and we won't have a choice to choose Paypal soon but I'm still happily using it. :)
Just started watching your video but I do have a question maybe you can do a video about eBay fees like if you don't have a store if you just list a few items I don't know if that's something you would be able to do okay let me keep watching
I wish I could make more videos but unfortunately one a week is all I can do right now. If you only have a few items (or even a few dozen), it probably doesn't make sense to have an Ebay store. There will be insertion fees and final value fees: pages.ebay.com/seller-center/get-started/seller-fees.html I hope that helps.
When I am able to.start selling next month. (after recovery), should I start in right away with an eBay store? Is it worth it at the start? Thank you for love, laughter, and great information on your videos, sharing so much of your life. Thank you for not being quiet about chronic disease! It matters to those of us who also have one.
I hope you recover quickly Anita but I know that not feeling well on a regular basis is something we might share. :) I would recommend not starting with an Ebay store unless you plan on listing 100+ items a month. The listing fees can add up quickly if you are listing a lot but if you just plan on going slow, it might be worth it to wait.
