I lived near DC and heard/watched the Concord overhead (Dulles airport) many times. We were told sometimes we heard a Sonic Boom. What's your opinion on that?
@@Heatherrrrr-uh2sl I used to work near an airforce base and yea they’re supposed to put out notifications for everyone warning them in advance about the sonic booms.. I’ve seen many times on the neighbor apps people asking what those loud sounds are that are shaking the house and it’s the sonic booms
That’s true, but it depends on how fast the jet is flying. If it were to be flying at Mach 1.10-1.30 at that height, it would be more of a muffled pop or a loud bang just slightly louder than the engines. Still would be perfectly safe. But if it were to go anywhere from Mach 1.5 up to it’s max speed at that altitude, you’d in the best case just experience permanent hearing loss or you’d get knocked down by the shockwave and get injured or killed

@@someguy1907 Thanks. We loved watching the Concord as kids. We were about 20 miles from the airport but it flew right over our house.
