That wasn't the swarming. In polish we call it oblot. Young bees leave the hive to do "poo" that's why there so many of them flying. Young bees work in the hive until they are old enough to start working in the field collecting nectar. I hope me english is good enough to get it right
I've given some thought to keeping bees once I retired. You have opened my eyes that it's not just, here you go bees and come back to collect the honey! It's a lot of work, but I'm sure very rewarding. I'll watch your vids and learn along with you before committing. Thank you! PS - Love your enthusiasm for life!
That was brilliant Alex. I am actually really enjoying your new channel even if I don't aspire to collect mushrooms or keep bees - the content is a great watch!
The best part of this video was seeing you and Carl together again in the video . Carl you where so close to the bees and so calm great job boys keep the videos coming ...
Well done! Just a short bit of panicking then you just got on with it. Kudos my friend. Very well done to Carl especially considering his alergy. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Love it.
I'm not gonna lie, I thought bee keeping would be pretty boring to watch and to do, but you've definitely changed my mind, it was actually pretty interesting.
I love watching you as yourself learning about bee keeping, it feels as if I was learning myself but I'm afraid I don't have a place but I still enjoy your videos. Loving your new adventure.
My dad used to keep bees back in the late nineties. I can remember an old plumb tree in amongst his hives that used to break it's branches due to the weight of the plumbs on each branch (every flower got pollinated a million times). Swarms were a pretty common thing back then and I remember plenty of them as a kid. It's great that you're keeping going with this. Your success will be sweet.... Literally.
This brought back some great memories, Alex. For a new beekeeper you handled it really well. It's certainly a bit nerve wracking when they start to swarm. Yes please, I'd definitely like to be considered for some honey. Obviously I don't mind paying for it. Looking forward to the next instalment on this very varied and interesting channel.
Duuuuude Alex your wild and it is absolutely brilliant. My jaw was dropped the entire time. There is no way I would shake a bee hive off of a tree branch like that. Sheeeesh so bold and really scary yet cool to watch
You must have balls of steel, amazing stuff Alex. Seen it done once before, well part done my friend had already gathered a swarm in a bin bag he had got the queen in his pocket inside a matchbox. When he opened up the bin bag his jeans were covered in bees within seconds, he didn't have a bee suit. He put the matchbox into hive he'd prepared and the swarm he was now covered in left and entered the hive. I was terrified but fascinated it's amazing stuff thanks for reminding me of a distant memory, it was 44 years ago. 🌸🐝🌻🐝🌹🐝🐝🐝👍
I started watching your videos with my boyfriend as he is a big fan of yours. Since then I've been out fishing and caught my first carp (10.3lbs - Yay!), we're growing mushrooms and we are planting bee friendly plants in the garden! :) Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the honey.
amazingly interesting....you must have read loads of books to be that confident in cutting down the swarm in the tree and knowing exactly what to do..... yes please I would buy a jar of your honey....well done Alex ( and Carl !)
Love this. You and carl are still a great team! Get some home made honey boilies made up for the next big carl vs Alex comp. Using only home made baits!
I don't know how I never till today came across your channel. All the videos are amazing I've learned quite some new interesting stuff. All I can say is just thank you for making these awesome videos and keep on going!
Glad you caught them on time. I opened the bedroom door once and found the room alive with bees. I shut the door again quickly and worked out other sleeping arrangements for the night. A few hours later I opened the door a crack, and saw that every single bee was gone, except for a dead one on the window sill. The hazards of sleeping in a room with an air brick!
I have just found you channel and loving it.. I have 1hive and 2 nuc hives. No bees ready to catch some bees today from a tree.. I love the raw excitement.. you have taught me more in 3 episodes that all these people doing step by step tutorials. I love your journey. Hopefully be this afternoon I will have bees too.
Wow that was thrilling and glad you were able to split the colony you handled it like a pro your channel knows no boundaries it just gets better and better 👍
Absolutely loving your new journey! Living life your way and on your terms is something everyone should strive towards. Looking forward to some honey glazed boletus cooked in the back of your car out in the woods somewhere 🍄🌲
This was amazing Alex. Fair play to you getting fully stuck in. Yes to the honey. I would suggest buying a load of syringes that fit as a large letter. If you put it into jars then less people will be able to try it and will be more expensive on postage. Maybe even 'cap' the ends of them with your own wax
I never imagined someone could make a video about beekeeping so exciting... When the music kicked in and you where trying to find the queen, I was on the edge of my seat. Great content! Keep it up 😀
Hiya Alex, I have watched your fishing videos for some years now however I really am enjoying the bees / camping. I’m a new bee keeper myself and great to see that you love them as much a I do :) keep up the great work
For years I was watching channels like JP the Beeman for bee keeping and Carl and Alex for fishing :) It is incredible for me to see Alex catching a swarm of bees :D I was sad at first when you guys (Carl and Alex) divided but that only meant double the best content for us !! :)
@@just_alex thanks for replying, I’ve been watching you and your brother for about 2 years now and I’ve got to say I wasn’t sure about the channels splitting in two but I must admit both channels content have excelled, we get double the content in the same amount of time, the only con is we don’t get to see you together, not sure if you’ll see this but thank you for the first reply and for making my favourite content on RUclips
I started last summer myself and thankfully I’ve not had mine swarm (yet). I have a FlowHive and have just added the honey super. I get my next colony in the next week or so and will be keeping them in a national poly hive. Can’t wait to see what this season brings for all us beekeepers. I’m going to start documenting my journey too. Good luck with everything. Oh also if you start taking an antihistamine the stings will affect you a lot less. 👍🏼🐝🐝
Absolutely outstanding, this video is an inspiration to other potential bee keepers, looking forward to seeing the next instalment of your bee keeping journey.
Hey Alex, great video, its awesome you have got into keeping bees. I am a bee keeper of 7 years and still learning. One tip I would give you is that when they are in defense mode they will go for anything that is black in colour. So your bother entirely dressed in black, your black trainers and socks, your black go pro etc can be a red rag to a bull! Avoid wearing anything very dark as from experience they will and can go absolute ham on you.
I’d love to try some of your honey mate. Keep up the great work. Just seeing you enjoying your life in the purest way possible is an inspiration to me and I’m sure many others
OMG Alex! I am so proud of you! Only a beekeeper for a few months and you recaptured that swarm like a seasoned pro! My very experienced keeper friends don’t always manage to catch them back up. It sure looked like you might have headed off them swarming altogether. They just beat you to it. I would love to try some of their honey when harvest time comes, but suspect there could be barriers to shipping it internationally (UK to US). Meanwhile, I am hoping for an abundance of fragrant blooms to flavor your first honey batch.
From initially searching for small car camping ideas, never did I expect to be sat up at midnight fascinated by your bee keeping antics😅 brilliant content love it! Looking forward to see how you do the honey extraction process and would certainly buy some from you!
Hey Alex, I just found your channel this morning from searching Van conversions, this is the second video I have watched of yours and really enjoyed it. What’s more I’ve learnt some new Infomation. I had no idea about the different type of cells and how they create a new Queen when they want to swarm. Really quite fascinating 🙏🏼
Excellent episode Alex. I love how Carl was filming without any bee keeping protection and allergic 🤣 risking it all for quality content. I for one would enjoy regular bee updates and wouldnt mind partaking in a bit of honey 😋
Alex congratulations on ur amazing bee keeping journey, we are loving every episode of your new channel and would love to try some honey, I feel like I need to keep bee’s myself now! Massive thanks to u for the inspiration
Hey Alex, I have to say this was a very interesting watch 👏🏼👏🏼. You are so super chilled when working with them, I’d be freaking out lol. It was nice to watch you do your thing. Keep up the good work mate 🐝🐝
Really interesting watch mate, never thought id find this sort of thing interesting but you have a really awesome way of passing on the information around the things you learn. keep up the awesome content.
To be honest I've never really been interested in bee keeping. But I'm the kind of person where if someone who passionately and with high detail educate you on something, it's a really interesting watch.
That’s so awesome and your so brave Iv watched you and your brother for years now and I must say your doing great on your own the pair off you have done great things and that honey will be amazing hopefully it has a unique taste!! Keep up the great work looking forward to the next vid 😊
Nicely done. Honey is great in tea Alex. It gives a nice flavour and is better than sugar. I often put 1 teaspoon in tea instead of 2 sugars. I am interested in trying yours as well. I will even pay for a jar because you should at least get something for keeping them. We'll done young man.
Great video, I don't know exactly why but the image of just shaking a ball of bees into a box and decanting it into a hive is very funny to me, just like "oop! In you go" lol

the swarming bit was really exciting. Never thought bee keeping would give you such a buzz.
Thanks for filming bro 😊
Oh gosh Carl that’s a buzzing cheesy joke 😅
No, apart from one guy shouting out the window of his car at me saying “keep making fishing videos” lol
I came to the comments for a buzz joke. Wasn’t disappointed! Nice one Carl 🤣

Seems like quite a courageous act, capturing a swarm of bees from a tree as a beginner bee keeper! Fair play to you! 👍
This is where Alex realises everyone wants his honey and he goes into bee business
beesness?
Most certainly!
Well done! Just a short bit of panicking then you just got on with it. Kudos my friend. Very well done to Carl especially considering his alergy. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Love it.
I did actually mean "allergy" but got a bit over zealous. Lol😋

Best brother award to Carl❤️❤️Great job Alex. Loved seeing you together too❣️❤️❤️
I don't usually watch many of Alex's videos, but this one was really interesting and an insight into beekeeping. Nice job on the artificial swarming!
I found that really interesting Alex , brilliant stuff. You're going to inspire your followers to try new things I'm sure.😃

Excellent video Alex. Hope you get a good harvest.

Talk like that could start a fight , in fact I can hear it now ,
FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, BUNDLE!
Well done Alex that was amazing to see . My father was a bee keeper and that brought back so many memories of waching him do similar things with his bee hives .if i remember correct he ended up with 20 hives after a few years. I would love to try the honey 1 day, make sure you charge for it👍
P.s Before you think it, you cannot keep Bees in a car 😄
Hahaha
Awesome, crazy stuff! Who knew what bee keeping entailed!? Honey - yes please!
Good work Alex, my father in law is a bee keeper so I'm really interested to see how you get on. Good luck.
Glad to know they survived the winter! Well done on catching them too when they tried to swarm hahaha you smashed it!
Great video Alex, I found that thoroughly interesting. You have me thinking whether I should adopt a hive!!!!
Wow that made my skin have goosebumps amazing to watch and yes to honey 🍯 well done and to carl for helping out thankfully he didn't get stung
That was brilliant! I've had a swarm of bees in my garden a few years ago and it's an awesome thing. Your videos are a tonic, thank you dude! Put me down for some honey if they're generous enough! :D
mate i normally watch you and your brother, but this so cool and so much new information of something I've never understood
. great channel pal.
For bee stings, apply a vinegar and baking soda paste as quickly as possible. Keep some (separated of coarse) with your bee keeping kit. Make the paste about the consistency of toothpaste. Afterwards apply Voltaren ointment.
Excellent job Alex this evening entertainment sorted 👍
Very enjoyable to watch your doing ok Alex learning bee keeping for the first time 🐝🐝🐝🐝
That was great fun to watch. Well done you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow. Congrats on keeping your cool whilst up that ladder! Looking forward to seeing you harvest the honey 🍯🤤
