I believe he meant that you get a remainder of 4 (4th Zodiac sign is Cancer - So the next sign is Leo) If there is no remainder, then it means the full 12 cycle was completed in the previous Nakshatra, so you start from the beginning again which is Aries. Hope that makes sense.

I dont understand how 88/12 is equal to 4? can you explain why? 88/12is 7.3 so it would not start the pada from scorpio instead of leo?
