    I am the lady with the kiddy pool trying to get my daughter , dog and stuff to safety. Not once i saw or heard first responders. No one helped us either to evaluate or to at least help us out of our places. I am very disappointed at the city at the mayor of the city . We lost our place! Our stuff! you mean what our overtaxed dollars is supposed to keep cleaned out. ? also Florida is below sea level. up north years ago, the corp of engineers didn't do their job and flooded our little town quickly. diverted enough water to climb those massive hills.

    • @takemetothesea6238
      @takemetothesea6238 3 месяца назад +3

      Florida as a state is 100 ft above sea level. Dade/Broward are at about 10 ft above.
      We sit on limestone. The water drains through as it always has & always will.
      Local agencies STILL need to perform their due diligence with pumps & drains, etc.
      Compare to New Orleans and other Gulf shoreline cities from MS to TX, they dip down to approximately
      10 ft below. They stay flooded longer, sometimes weeks because they sit on sand...in other words, MUD.
      The latest right now around here though is that there is another development trying to grow in the gulf,
      so we'll know more in a week I suppose.

      It’s not a normal system at all. I’m 60 and have lived in the area affected for a long time. I’ve been in waist deep water here twice in the last 30 years. Most hurricanes don’t rain like this. Last years 25” deluge in a day in Ft Lauderdale and Hollywood was bad but it appears like this is going to whoop it. We’re in Hollywood. We’ve had a foot of rain since it began, it’s still raining, and it’s going to rain until at least Saturday by all accounts. Possibly another foot. It’s an epic flood event. Not even remotely normal, even for here.

      @jjones4314 I lived in Florida since 1989 it was great before it got overcrowded. There were trees, water was clear, and so many animals and sea creatures. Now, it's polluted with plastic and oil from the boats. The beautiful land became toxic. I still have a house there, but I travel now and live 6 months in another country. I have seen other countries way ahead of America, just in infrastructure and education alone. Florida's major has a racket, and most Floridians are clueless about it. I definitely don't feel sorry for the people in Florida if that's what they want. I feel sorry for so many displaced families in the world, 110 million, more than WW2. But like I said, most people in Florida would be clueless about that, too.
