They me differently. some said that they saw other spirits, some said they didn't see anything, some said the shaman spirit guided and taught them the "khawv koob" etc. I want to documentation on it.

@kabtsib1 Your friend needs to think of his health for the sake of his wife and kids. Being stubborn is fine if it isn't putting his health on the line. But if he keeps resisting, does he want to suddenly have a major health issue? some ppl have dialysis, heart attack, stroke...then they change their minds. But it's sad cuz it's a bit late in that they already have a major issue with their health now.

The information I have is not that specific in details. If I become a shaman some day, I would put out the experience I go through to help other to easy their anxieties and don't waste lots of their money to go to see doctors,

Yet, I do agree that we, Hmong people, should encourage (1) the free exercise of religious beliefs and ideology, (2) the freedom to disagree with impunity, (3) respectful, thoughtful dialogue and reflections over religious ideology, and (4) respectful inquiry and investigation into religion and ideology pertaining specifically to the Hmong people in the United States and maybe abroad. We all have been guilty of "arrogantly and intolerrantly" (not why but how) dismissing the beliefs of others.

@cwjmem I think khawv koob is learnt and not a part of shamanistic methods. Some shamans do learn several pieces of khawv koob to help them in their healing practices. However, I do not believe they are of the same origin. Some shamans are actually prevented from learning khawv koob and it is a tabu for them to try to learn because their spiritual guides are from a pure origin and will not allow khawv koob into the mix.
@cwjmem You should follow your path so that you can be physically and spiritually "whole" and balanced again. I think that if you keep waiting, the symptoms just get worse. The hard part is probably finding a right sifu for you. I know some people who still have not found their compatible sifu and it is really difficult for them.
He he he...what have you been doing lately to get you so hyped up??? i begin to worry that you may involve some kind hallucinated enhancement to think that God will judge on me when I die?? I am the engineer in my own life which lead to my fate. What I do will affect the people, animals, plants, water, insects, and my life. I could of recorded my session with a shaman, while the shaman was speaking to my spirit guides. It would have been nice. I feel much better now. I was emotionally sick for awhile.

@AsianBlood113 last week, I went to see my uncle and he performed Ua neeb saib, While on trance, he asked the shaman gods to see if I was destined to be shaman. They told him "Yes", they also said that the shaman spirits have been asking me to do it for a long time. That's why I have been so sick for long time (nasal allergy). Due to my life style and being a single, I ask my shaman spirits to sit and wait until I have a wife who can care for them.

@niamtxiv (continue), I like to find out what purpose the shaman 's spirit seeking us for? What specialty does each shaman have? What are the limitations of the shaman? Who are the shaman's helper spirits (lightning god)? Too many question to ask. I search lots of websites about Hmong shaman, but I have very little information. I think we Hmong should do a detail documentation on shaman form the initial shaman stage (sick) to a fully functional shaman (us tsheej neeb).

This is a ceremony, It's purpose is to exchange or offer an animal; which in most case it's a pig, goat or cow for a lost soul to return back to the sick person so he/she can get well. There's many more other reasons why they would perform this ceremony. We all need to respect one another for their RELIGION and believes. I look at religions this way; If there's truly a great religion, it should be one where no one needs to convince or persuade you to join!

When you're in the spirit world, and youre turning your head. your physical body also responds in the living. But the fact that he was actually in this house looking for demons in this house. Is very scary, and imagine how scared the txiv neeb is when he saw this demon. A lot of shaman's yuav tsum muaj lub siab loj. Going against these higher level beings, because they can get injured in the spirit world and in the real world. Props to this master. I don't even know if he even has a helper there with him. Usually there would be another person with the shaman master. But since there isn't the families in the house would have to help the shaman master. You guys did well helping the shaman master. :)
Thank you for your documentary with this ceremony, I'm currently researching and learning more about shamanism. Honestly I'm scared, confident and curious at the same time. I came to find out I have shaman guides not to long ago. And I still have the jingle bell shakes. I have a red string tied around my ankle right now, just to keep my spirits calm and at bay for the moment. But my parent's are actually scheduling my Txuaw Neeb soon, after we move out to a single home. Sigh~

I'm a Christian and I have Hmong friends who I have asked many questions, (respectfully), about shaman and the "traditional" beliefs the Hmong have about the spirit world. I was told that people are chosen to be Shaman by spirits or by the Spirit world. These people learn that they are chosen when they begin to have manifestations in their life. Like falling into trance like states, uttering ancient languages, and revealing details about others lives they would have no way of knowing. From a Catholic Christian perspective all of these manifestations are synonymous with demonic oppression or possession. When you hear the stories from Hmong people who must turn to Shaman to call upon other spirits to deal with this difficulty or that, or to reverse a curse by a bad Shaman, (who will do it for a price), you quickly realize that this is indeed demonic activity. Now to be clear I'm not saying Shaman are evil, but that they are deceived by Satan and his Demons. Jesus frees us from this because He has authority over all spirits.

Fun Fact: a lot of people say *dab neeb* literally translating to demon/ghost shaman, but the correct term is *qhua neeb* meaning the shaman spirit is a guest, and you're the host. take care of it and it'll lend you it's power

@kabtsib1 Thank you for the information. I start to have a numbness in the arms and leg. I have sore throat and sinus on the left side of my face. Not too serious, but it bothers me a lot. I assume that my shaman healer spirit does not want to wait. This experience of sickness started in 1998. I guess they can no longer want to wait for me. My problem is I am still single and there is no one to care for it. If it's getting worst, I may have to have a wife and start it going.
@cwjmem That's a long time!!! why dont' you have a wife then? You should stop playing around and settle down and get married. Depending on what type of a shaman you will be, you may be able to attend to your altar/spiritual guides yourself until that day when you have someone else to do it for you. For now, you have your parents (?)

Hello Jack, I respect what you have said here. However, every "religion" explicitly or implicitly claim exclusivity or that "my religion is the only way to God or enlightenment." Otherwise, one would have to live in contradiction or affirming multiple religions that contradict one another in every aspect. For example, I appeal for my ancestors for help in one religion but at the same time, they do not exist.in another religion. Sooner or later, we have to pick either or, not both or multiple.

Why it is the most boring shit you'll ever see. It is sooooooo freakin long and usually takes up all the good hours to go fishing or sleep in. Its sucks thats why i'm glad my family doesn't practice this or go to church. I believe in the spiritual world just not the human practices.
