I was there last night and it was spectacular. Both players did their best to stay in the game even though they both had injuries. Congratulations to both players for demonstrating what true sportsmanship is!
I don’t know what y’all are watching saying that this match sucks. It was good tennis even thought both players are injured. Y’all need to shut up and watch how they are such great athletes and the competitiveness.
Clealy Maia is not at her best. Why? Maybe its the first game of the year? Maybe part of the gambling? Gao ranks 175, she is doing her best, even beyond. Her spirit makes the game different.
I really thought this was a great match. Had a lot of really good points were they had one player at the net then volley or lobed. Love seeing the drop shots from the woman not just bashing balls. Loved the variety and spin variation. Really good match even though both players are obviously restricted because if injury. Great match firm Goa overall.
Impressionante como a Bia não mostra na quadra porque é número 17 e já chegou no top 10 contra jogadores de nível e ranking comum, qualquer jogadora faz frente a ela e pode ganhar! Isso só mostra que o fato dela chegar nesse ranking é algo eventual e de veneta e não uma realidade, você pega qualquer jogadora que chega nesse ranking ou nível que é consistente e regular, ela jamais vai perder jogos desse, a Bia é quase uma rotina e o pior não evolui, continua cometendo os mesmos erros, parece até replay
"Mulheres deveriam jogar Bo5 sets" dizem os "especialistas" que nunca conviveram com uma mulher e nem sabem como o corpo feminino funciona, primeira partida do ano e ambas as jogadoras sofrem com muitas câimbras, pareciam que estavam numa rotina de 20 jogos seguidos e é a primeira partida do ano!!! Uma pena que a Bia, por incrível que pareça, sofreu mais que a Gao toda enfaixada.
Not an enjoyable sport anymore. In every other sport you would say this is a fixed and rigged match. For me its even worser, im saying they both cant even fix because the level is low. Much drama and acting over really nothing
I agree that the match was of low quality, but it’s a little unfair to criticise the sport based on a single match where both players were clearly injured. The tennis wasn’t amazing, but the tenacity of the players in their physical states was very impressive.
You should stop gambling mate. I've heard that rigged & fixed way too often lol. Both were injured & Haddad Maia almost always matches the level of her opponent.. this year she has lost to Blinkova, Siegemund, Schmiedlova etc.. Always been inconsistent with her serve too (8 DF today which isn't unusual).. They struggle to fix matches in Futures and Challengers, they're all over the ATP/WTA, working with sportsbooks when there's a lot of money coming on one side for no apparent reason. And also why would Haddad Maia need money for? She has like 4 millions, making 500k a year, the risk isn't worth it. Lower levels fix matches a lot more, or try to at least.

I have represented my country in team events, and it isn't easy - a lot of pressure. So I don't want to hear that they rigged matches. Goa played out of her mind. Why didn't y'all go out and try?
@@ChrisJohnson-z2p Goa is usually a lot more explosive than that, quicker.. BHM was injured too.. both level weren't very high today, but coming off christmas break it was alright.
