Jimmy’s vocals on this song are so great, and I love it when you see the entire band singing. That riff is unmistakable by Mossy, as is the perfect beat by Steve on drums. This was written by Don Walker, the keyboard member of the band. This song was released back in 1979/80 and is from their brilliant album, East. Thanks for doing a review of this song. All the best to Jimmy who has a bacterial lung infection at the moment. Get better soon Jimmy. Take care 🌸♥️
Cold Chisel was never aftaid to tackle controversial subjects but this is s sensitive treatment of pregamcy termination. They dealt with Vietnam vets in Khe Sahn snd When the War Is Over. Miserableness of everyday life in Standing On The Outside and Bow River. Urban unrest anongst the poorand imprisonment in Star Hotel and Four Walls.
Even today the subject is.....Controversial to say the least. I must say that you are very astute, people who have listened to this song ever since it came out don't get the meaning behind it.

A tough subject treated with tenderness and respect. Thanks for reacting 👍
Cold Chissell, my favourite band ever 💪
Thanks for that. I think this song has different meanings to different people. Cold Chisel songs are really well written and constructed. ♥
Absolutely that’s what it’s about.
This song was written back when in Australia you couldn't talk about 'stuff' out in the open. It was as out there as it could be for it's time.
Yes it is about abortion. It was written by Don Walker and was their first single from the East album.
He's a brilliant songwriter & very underrated songwriter in the Aussie music scene
Such a phenomenal band, with great songs.

One of my favourite songs ever
From the East album
Many great songs on this album

I'm sorry, but Jimmy is too cute when he smiles. This song is special and it's open to interpretation, but yes, it's a sensitive topic.
I read in Barnes book this song is about a girl having an abortion 😢😢
Jimmy's wife (Jane) lost their first child to miscarriage, that's what the song is about. Not abortion but you pretty much hit the nail on the head.
could also relate to what happened to David, raised thinking Jimmy was his uncle.
