  • Putting to the test DCC Concepts Zen V12 Black decoder.
Simple setup all done by changing a single CV. Great feature which makes the whole process simple.
This video also includes a few outtakes!
    Thanks for watching.

I'm very novice when it comes to dcc and it took a while to get this video right. This was the first time ive changed CV's on a decoder after ditching my basic hornby select a couple of months ago in favour of a gaugemaster prodigy. The select only allows you to alter speedsteps.
These decoders are a god send for simplicity.

Great video. I have wondered about the DCC concept decoders in terms of performance. Seams to run pretty well. The bloopers were great. Clint

Thanks clint. They do indeed run really well even on factory setting it was very smooth.

Hi Tim - I have these is a few of my Locos both diesel & steam they work very well and I do like being able to set the profile of the loco with just a change of the CV . I have the NCE Powercab and they work well with them..............Cheers Kev

I used to us the cheap decoders but they kept failing. Found the Zimo ones to be the best so far and with the active braking on them precision stopping is easy. Will have a look at one of those though to compare if they do a 6 pin

Not sure if they do 6 pin. Worth checking their website.
Active breaking, now I remember back in march me and Richard watson took over the running of Hornby mags 'west coast Cement' layout at Basingstoke exhibition, im sure they used zimo decoders as the active break funtion was on most the fleet. That function is very good.

@@thescrapline4905 Active breaking is fantastic. Yes on Zimo decoders and I am slowly converting all my decoders to Zimo which I am getting from YouChoos (01380530530). It just requires four CV changes and you brake using function 2.
Have a chat with Rich at YouChoos. Their sound ones come with it programmed and they will put the sounds in the order you want them

Hi Time great video as always will this decoder work with any DCC system?

Cheers. Cant see why it wouldnt.
The only thing it may not work with is a hornby select with the old software, thats what i was using before i changed to the gaugemaster prodigy.
