Cold and salt used to melt ice in winter put much more strain on the material. For example, a bike is often kept in warm rooms in winter and is then exposed to a temperature difference of 20 degrees. This doesn't seem to be a problem with Maxxis tires, but they specialize in rubber for damping. The rubber used to seal Fox components lasts a very long time with occasional care. 👍 I use Ballistol, which becomes supple in the cold and is also approved by Fox.
Also, it’s not being cycled with axial and radial loads applied at the same time. It’s like, ok, yeah. The fork can go up and down. It can also resist being moments. But how well does it go up and down while resisting bending moments?

But if you keep your bike in a room with 20 degrees Celsius and absolutely have to ride it in the winter, then that's just as much of a shock for every metal and every alloy as it is for the human body that is dressed in contrast. Fox is generally great. I've often seen the wrong care of the fork and other components, so I'm also interested in what is not recommended. For example, WD40, which dissolves grease. Or salad oil, which accelerates oxidation.
