Dead Cells is a Rouge like not Metroidvania

What's the main difference? I don't play them so I'm not well educated on them. To my current knowledge they are pretty similar

@@INSOMNIACBLXCK There is no difference between them because they are two completely different things
_"Rogue-like" or "Rogue-lite" is a rule that forces you to restart from the beginning if you die in the game, but it allows you to maintain some of your progress in each run.
_"Metroidvania" is a trend in game design that focuses on exploration. You have a huge map, but it's not fully accessible. You have to explore until you obtain abilities or features that open up new paths

@@INSOMNIACBLXCK To add something else, Rogue-like games rely on computer randomized world design to add variety in each run. As for Metroidvania, it's 100% handcrafted design, and you don't die and restart from the beginning like in Rogue-like games.

@@gasterblaster34 The Dead Cell devs themselves call the game a RogueVania. It's also not the only game that mixes the 2 genres, Rogue Legacy or Sundered come to mind.
