Our Fun Carriage Ride At West Baden Springs - Hotel, Horses, & History
We stayed at the French Lick Springs Hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and one of the things we did while we were there was we took a horse-drawn carriage ride! We booked our ride at our resort's sister property, the West Baden Springs Hotel, which is only about a mile away. We could have walked there, or driven, but we decided instead to take the rail trolley that connects the two resorts, which made getting there a fun adventure in itself. We had made our carriage reservation about two months in advance, but you have to wait to pay for it until you're actually there. To do that, we went inside the hotel to the West Baden Mercantile shop, located just off of their amazing Atrium. The cost for the carriage ride was $35 per person, for a total of $70. Was it worth it? We thought so, as we had a great horse, Jimmy, a great driver, Pat, and a great time! The ride is advertised to last from between 20-25 minutes, with ours very close to the 25 minute mark. Pat and Jimmy took us around the beautiful West Baden Springs Hotel property, and there was a lot to enjoy seeing. But our carriage driver, Pat, made it even more interesting by telling us about the history of the West Baden Springs Hotel, and also what new things were currently in the works there. It made for an educational and fun ride, and Jimmy and Pat made for a great team! If you're looking for something different to do while you're in the French Lick Resort area, this could be just the thing for you!
