Join me as I start a game of Fortune and Glory: The Cliff Hanger Game by FFG. In this episode I will show the set up and the first turn. boardgamegeek....
Good one, Doug! I am really looking forward to seeing if you continue to play this as there maybe a few other playthroughs but they are not all particularly viewable so new content is always going to be appreciated. Cheers
Always good to see Fortune And Glory! By the way, Angel could've made it to Angelica if she went across the Pacific. And like the other comment said, if you decide to escape and fail, the enemy attacks you and a new round starts. You can't fight back while trying to escape.
Love this game. One suggestion... when we play, we all get two dice, one blue and one white, for initiative and movement. We then all roll both dice at the same time, and sort things out from there. Makes it a lot quicker. Also, pull the dangers from the bottom of the danger deck, that was there's no spoilers.
I ended up sleeving the cards because of them being sticky. Really humid in my region and the sleeves helped. Also, I cannot wait for the Lair of the Spider Queen expansion!
Yeah, I never liked sleeves on any of my games until I bought Fortune & Glory, and then A Touch of Evil, both games have horrible cards printed on slightly too thick card that sticks to the next card really annoyingly. I sleeved them both and found playing with them and shuffling them so much better I'm more than happy to sleeve other games too now.
Woot! Always up for a playthrough of Fortune and Glory. Would be really tempted to get a 10th Anniversary Edition if FFG publish such a thing! This and Touch of Evil are both in my "Top Ten Games I've Never Played" list Good to hear Dave will be playing some more SoB All the best Doug.
I just bought A Touch of Evil. There are a LOT of similarities to this game. Theme and scope are the biggest differences. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the card stock. Much better than in Shadows of Brimstone. I'm curious why.
@@lynnbowers4722 I thought the cards were okay for SoB (though I've not seen the ToE cards in the flesh, and they do look indestructible on the videos lol)
@@lynnbowers4722 Thanks Lynn. I think those coated cards are more expensive for sure. They also are much thicker and stick together occasionally. I wonder if that swayed them in a different direction for SoB?
Thank you. Very helpful as I am about to start paying and currently in a learning phase. If there is one constructive recommendation I would like to make, it would be: please put cards that you are drawing in front of you on the table or hold them in am more stable manner. You are waving around with them quite a bit and it would be easier to follow, when one could at least get the general idea of the card without stopping the video every now and then. Other than that great to see the game being played. Helps a lot with the rather messy rules 😉
Great stuff Doug. I love your honest style ‘I think she’ll go here...no maybe not’ letting us see your planning at work. I have been playing a lot of Brimstone recently, but dang! You have got my FnG juice flowing now.
Doug, I follow your channel because you play games I'm interested in and make it pretty easy for me to decide whether I want them. You're doing a great job of showing us just how interesting Fortune and Glory is. Thanks! - toby
Thanks Tobias! I appreciate that. I make a few mistakes with this game. I think everyone does but they are not immortalized on video :) Fortune and Glory is a very fun game! I appreciate you following.
Recently there was a conversation on BGG that this game was perhaps too easy. A possible solution/opinion was to run two villians while playing. It hadn't been tested but it was thought that the way it would work is one villians/group takes one turn then followed by the other group. In your opinion do you think this would play well? Do you have a suggestion to make the game harder when playing with any other group other than the Crimson hand?
Normally, I have not had to make the game harder. This was really the first time it was such a cake walk This one could have turned south with some bad luck card draws or dice roles. There are lots of ways to house rule the game that might make it hard. Add in an extra villain, increase the reward to the vile organization when they collect an artifact, maybe lower the requirement for the organization to win. Just some ideas.
Hey but escape working different then you do. You tell for escape and enwmu same time roll for attack if you roll bad and cabnot escape enemy rolls will wounds you if they roll some. Is exactly same as fight round bit you roll for escape not for wounds
@@olegyd the rulebook says "intended to" and I guess this means that you should use it in competitive game. It also true that at its very end, the rulebook says that, for an epic game, you can combine elements from coopertive and competitive version. So at the end I suppose it's all up to you. In this regards I have developed a home made variant that goes on that direction and would appreciate if you could give it a try!

Great suggestion. I will scrounge up some dice. I must have some laying around somewhere:)

I have not played this one in forever. I keep hoping that the new expansions announced 2 years or so ago will actually see the light of day.
Hey Stasia, been a while! I hope you are doing well and it is good to hear from you. I am looking for that expansion too.

Me too. I love these games. keep hoping for more Touch of Evil enhanced villains too.

@@pencilpauli9442 They have a really thick, almost laminated, type coat on them. Same with Fortune and Glory and their other older games.

Yes! Looking forward to this series. Good choice. Best of luck!
Thanks Brian.
Great choice. Love this game! Crimson Hand really raises the difficulty. Loved the intro. Excellent job!
Good to hear from you Kevin. I hope you are well.
@@Dougmysticeye Doing great! How's the shed working out? I think I must have missed a video if you showed the final product.
I'm just now learning this game. A lot to keep track of but very fun. Great vid 👍 great timing!!
If fortune is tied villains will go after the artifact with fewer dangers needed.
Great stuff Doug. I love your honest style ‘I think she’ll go here...no maybe not’ letting us see your planning at work.
I have been playing a lot of Brimstone recently, but dang! You have got my FnG juice flowing now.
Thanks. I do love this game and need to play it more often. So many new games all the time I sometimes forget about my old favorites.

shoot .. goin old school Doug - love it !!
Yup. Everyone is playing new games all the time and we forget these great ones. I am hoping Flying Frog is planning a 10th anniversary edition.

@@Dougmysticeye Appreciate the advice. The game is a dice chucker with lots of random moving parts. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve had it with these mother f*cking snakes on this mother f*cking…. Emmmm…. Transatlantic cruise ship
Heheh. That is funny!

Thanks. I am a bit rusty.
So you don't use Zeppelin in regular cooperative game without Nazi? But in competitive mode you use it every game even without Nazi?
The rulebook says that the Zeppelin is intended only for
use in the Cooperative Game when fighting the Nazis Vile
Organization.
@@danilospaziani8390 so that mean in competitive game you use it or not ?

@@danilospaziani8390 I guess you could play it but there is already a lot to manage. The Zeppelin is fun when playing against the Nazis though.
Didn't you do a playthrough a few years ago? I love F&G.
I did. It has been some time though.
