    I do love how this panel seems to ADORE IT when someone fools them all. It’s a kind of honest core.

    The panel had an exceptionally bad night. You have to wonder if Polly is putting on an act or not. Kitty Carlisle always has a good time. You can hear her laughing a lot in the background. Happy haircut to Ralph. Thanks for the video.

    He only lost 7 games of checkers in his whole life. Kinda amazing. He even beat a computer because it had a small fault in one of its programmed moves.

    A few days before the party, Todd himself appeared on the panel of "What's My Line?" He used it as an opportunity to advertise the upcoming fiasco. That was, if memory serves, the episode with Elsa Maxwell and Pat O'Brian as mystery guests.

    RE: Gardner's reference to the Mike Todd Party. Todd was the producer of the film "Around the World in Eighty Days" in 1956 and a year later in Madison Square Garden he somehow bamboozled CBS into broadcasting live his first birthday party for the film. Walter Cronkite found himself embroiled in the disaster as its moderator. Todd also bamboozled CBS into paying HIM to broadcast the party, which eventually turned into a large food fight because Todd started charging for the alcohol and the refreshments.

    Ralph balances the "airhead"-ness of Polly. Ralph is primarily a panel guy, not a host from that episode where Bud wasn't around for some reason.

    I kind of thought the checkered player was number one from the beginning because it looked like he was a little hurt by the audience laughing at his name. With the name like Marion and being a boy you know he's been made fun of his entire life. People are just so mean.

    Did Ralph Bellamy go to Ralph Bellamy's hair salon, (see prior episode). he looks very slicked up compared to previous episodes.
    Also, if Kitty Carlisle can vote for "number three, too", why can't Polly Bergan vote for #2, 3?

    I grew up eating the cake made without eggs, milk or butter. It was one of the few recipes handed down from my paternal grandfather who was a baker at one time. We called it either "war cake" or "spice cake". It was heavily seasoned with sweet spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, among them, as I recall) because it didn't have much sugar in it, either. The idea was to make a cake without rationed ingredients. I have a recipe in my mom's old recipe box somewhere. The substitute for the butter is easy: margarine or corn oil. The other substitutes are not as obvious.

    Again, Bud seems to be wearing some sort of black cap, for lack of a better term, on the back of his head. Other commenters have mentioned this on other shows but no one seems to know exactly what it is or what it is for. Can anyone help ?

    • @Walterwhiterocks
      @Walterwhiterocks 3 года назад

      @It's 1984: The Fact Checkers are here! I dont buy that. There is a distinctive line (visible on most shows) where whatever it is, is attached, applied, or worn to/on the back of his head, and is clearly visible.

      @It's 1984: The Fact Checkers are here! Thanks for your comments. Your last sentence shows that you have an open mind. I don't particularly like cliches, but if you really feel his "oddly-shaped" skull or studio lighting has ANYTHING to do with what clearly to me is an enhancement to the back of his head, then we'll have to agree to disagree. Be well.

    • @jacquelinebell6201

      Most of them weren't. In fact a few centuries ago a lit of them had wives/mistresses and just got dispensations to excuse them. The clergy were the least celibate of anyone.
