Great video friend. Question, I have a 2019 Ascent. I broke the volume/power control knob and now radio/screen just glitch on and off. Do I really need to replace the entire head unit? Or can I save $1500 over a broken plastic button somehow?
It will depend on how the button is damaged. It sounds like you may be better off buying a used unit for an Ascent for Ebay. I'd suggest using the model number of your unit to find the replacement if you do this. If the problem is just that the button is stuck in the pressed in position, it may work better to try to resolve that issue either by popping out the plastic button or opening up the unit if needed.
Will this work for a 20 Forester Premium if I want to upgrade the radio later to a pioneer? I am upgrading the speakers to pioneer,. I wanted to put in a pioneer amp and sub but was told I can't on the stock radio. I guess I would have to upgrade to dvd to have a cd player.

Test to see if which function worked? Starlink or something else? If you install the Starlink Bypass plug and unplug that telematics box, then it disables the telematics function so essentially the car is no longer on Subaru's cellular data network.

I am interested in buying this for my new Wilderness I have coming in, but they have the next gen Subaru Eyesight and a new screen & AC controls, I imagine the wiring has changed?
@@RagnarokReviews We have the wiring diagrams for the 2023 Subaru models. I just checked and the connector for the starlink telematics module is the same so this will keep the speakers connected if you remove the telematics unit. We should be able to work through any other issues if they come up!
@@RagnarokReviews That's understandable. If we need to, we can work up a solution where we add an adapter with an on-off switch for the telematics box. This isn't as ideal as removing the whole box from the car but it claws back some of the big brother "features"

In 2019 Subaru Ascent you can just pull out the DCM fuse and problem solved.
You can but you will lose sound from your dash tweeters. This is what the starlink bypass restores.
