This video should be much more popular. Amazing video! One of the most peaceful things that anyone can do is driving thru California with a pocket full of gas money, not having one worry. It's even more amazing with good friends, family and especially your mate.
Not really pocket full of money well yea money is needed but a drive like you said is very healthy specially if your sharing it with good company and gas is needed to
I've always wanted to visit Las Angeles, thanks Robert for taking me along with you. You're very fortunate to be able to travel. God bless you, 🙏 and safe travels.
Your relationship with your wife is cool. She pops up in the videos with a cameo from time to time and just allows you to be you and you seem to allow her to be her. I am fascinated by your ability to tell a story and make it so interesting.
This is so lovely I just decided to do a road trip ,all by myself from July to august ,I enjoyed this and i will certainly use this to plan my trip. This is really wonderful.I cant wait.
I am SO going to California in 2015... just saving up, take 4 weeks off, pack my bags and go. These roadtripvideos are really helpful in deciding where I want to go. Thanks :-)
I absolutely love California! I went there with my wife in our honeymoon. Each time I want to "visit" California again, your video is the first place to go. Greetz from Germany!
Rob - I realized I never got to thank you enough. Back between 2012-2014, I was living in the midwest and watching this video EVERYDAY manifesting that I would one day live in California. I ended up moving here in 2014. Wanted to live here since I was a kid and this helped me stay grounded and focused.
Great achievement! It's like traveling just staying in my chair with my iPad as a window on the world. This trip of yours through California makes me really understand why this State is so fascinating...
My family did a road trip from NJ to CA in 1964..same time "Mad World " came out. We did the same route as you but with 10,000 less people and a lot less smog! If I could pick a Ground Hog Day that experience would be it. Thanks for the memories. ❤
I'm a native of Cali and have traveled and know this entire state in great detail. Your video did an excellent job in highlighting some of the great treasures of California. Fantastic Job.
Spending the night at the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a must do. It was wonderful sleeping underneath the jelly fish tank and having run of most of the museum after dark and they have cool activities. Ten out of 10, would reccommend.
Hi Robert!! I have not seen your videos in a while . Summer keeps me busy. Just found this old video. Wow ! You are an American treasure! You do the best job of telling us what is great and what is not, unlike commercial travel shows. I want to hop in my truck and go to California right now! Will be a long trip being I am in NJ! Someday! THANK YOU!!
Unlike many road trip videos with endless, disturbing, annoying, "drive you nuts" music, This one only with some light music between narrations, that's a smart arrangement. And the narrations accompanied the traffic noises, making it more realistic like the viewers were in the car with the traveler himself; very nice.

what an awesome presentation this was! excellent video quality and enjoyable commentary. I agree with you about the touristy Hollywood Blvd... so fake and plastic and crowded with annoying tourists! it's nice to say you've been there but I also have no desire to go back. we did this same trip in the reverse direction in 2010. we stopped in so many of the same places. Solvang was ok but to me it ended up feeling more like being in a theme park than in California. Los Olivos was wonderful and we also ate at the Wine Merchant Cafe and the Hitching Post! We were only able to drive thru Santa Barbara and like you added it to our list for a longer stay - we will be based there for a full week next month and also a full week in Morro Bay! Hearst Castle was a great experience but it is best to make a reservation and there are crowds and parking to deal with. We are also going back there next month as some people in this group have not been there before. loved Big Sur and stayed in this area for 3 days in the actual town... I noticed you mentioned McWay Rocks but you did not see the Falls? the only falls that empties straight into the ocean on the entire west coast - very scenic spot! I think Carmel is probably the most beautiful place I have ever been! out of the 2 trips I have done between SF and Monterey I have never taken the PCH... we always take 101 / 17, but I would definitely go the way you did next time. we stayed a couple different places in SF - North Beach, almost right across the street from The Stinking Rose actually. I got a nice photo of it's neon sign lit up at night. loved your 360 degree panorma btw! Also stayed in Pacific Heights which was amazing to live among those multi million dollar homes for a week! the furthest north we went was Santa Rosa and Sonoma... still lots to explore! thanks again for such an awesome video! just the perfect thing I was looking for to relax with on a Sunday afternoon!
Hi, thank you so much for your kind comment. I would definitely love to spend more time in California, and hopefully I will in the future. Will definitely spend more time in Santa Barbara and Big Sur, and next time I will check out the falls for sure. We had to reach Monterey before sundown... and there was just not enough time. Enjoy you future trip to Cali!
TravelingRobert thanks for the reply. I remember on our final day last time we raced to make it to Monterey (Pacific Grove) to catch a sunset which we literally got out of our car at the beach to see the last 20 seconds before it dipped below the horizon. I wanted to mention one other place for you to consider - Catalina Island, off the coast from LA. you have to take a ferry to get there and leave your rental car behind. the only transportation on the island are golf carts! make sure you rent a condo that includes use of a golf cart for the most enjoyment and value. I think we saw a business renting golf carts for $40/hr if you can believe that. I can not imagine anyone would pay that price! cheers, looking forward to checking out more of your videos...
The video has reached Austria (Österreich) more precisely Vienna Austria. I come from Vienna and myself in 2013 made this trip only in the reverse direction from San Francisco to LA. It is just wonderful to watch your video and listening to your commentaries, this also raises a lot of memories of my trip. I thank you for your great video and greetings from Austria.
Hey, greetings from Miami. I'm so glad you liked my video. I hear it is better on the way south. I'll do it again in the future hopefully with more time to stop at different places.
Great video, good job. Honest, informative, fun. Monterey is the oldest settlement in California with the first California library, stop sign, street corner, dirt road, food store, town beach, street sign, restaurant, mission, public trash can, mail box, front yard hedge, flower garden, bar, saloon, salon, livery stable, blacksmith, landfill, parking space, house, motel, hotel, apartment, duplex, townhome, city hall, city hall office, police station and a big aquarium.
What a beautifully done video. Somehow you managed to bring me along on your vacation. I didn't even get to take notes. All I could do was enjoy the ride! Thank you so much. ~Sherrie in South Carolina

out of the 2 trips I have done between SF and Monterey I have never taken the PCH... we always take 101 / 17, but I would definitely go the way you did next time.
we stayed a couple different places in SF - North Beach, almost right across the street from The Stinking Rose actually.
Watched the whole video, great documentary and tour =)
Thanks so much. this was my first really popular video.
Great video, good job. Honest, informative, fun. Monterey is the oldest settlement in California with the first California library, stop sign, street corner, dirt road, food store, town beach, street sign, restaurant, mission, public trash can, mail box, front yard hedge, flower garden, bar, saloon, salon, livery stable, blacksmith, landfill, parking space, house, motel, hotel, apartment, duplex, townhome, city hall, city hall office, police station and a big aquarium.
Thank you very much!! Really enjoyed every second of the video. Do upload more videos!! 👏👏😂😂
Thank you. I will... and have many more
very enjoyable I grew up in L.A. county and it was my stomping grounds. The crowds in your video are amazing, so many people. Thank you
Thank you. I’m really glad you liked the video
I love california so beautiful thank god i was born here
I love California too.
Down the street from the Motel 6 you stayed at is the Canterbury Apartments where The Go Go's were formed and lived.
I'll check it out next time.
I live in LA :) and I love it.. The bad thing is everything is $$$$$
Come to Puerto Rico, and you will see it is more expensive living here
Jajaja
What a beautifully done video. Somehow you managed to bring me along on your vacation. I didn't even get to take notes. All I could do was enjoy the ride! Thank you so much. ~Sherrie in South Carolina

I loved this video... you did a fantastic job filming and narrating it! I'm a native Californian, born and raised in San Diego. I've traveled by car to at least 20 different states, including Canada and Mexico. I am a self-professed tourist in my own city and state - I absolutely love all the naturally beautiful and diverse aspects of California.
After watching this, I have road - trip fever now! Looks like I'm going to have to plan some time off work soon!
Thank you for your video. It was truly awesome and beautiful!
Thank you!
