California Road Trip - The Pacific Coast Highway

- Опубликовано: 27 мар 2013
- We drive on the Pacific Coast Highway from Los Angeles to San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and beyond. This was an epic historic trip from back in 2012, before we had become RVers. One of our favorite parts were Solvang, Big Sur, and Bixby Creek Bridge.
We are currently Traveling in Florida and the rest of the USA aboard a Winnebago Micro Minnie 1706FB travel trailer. You are more than welcome to tag along by subscribing to this channel.

Your relationship with your wife is cool. She pops up in the videos with a cameo from time to time and just allows you to be you and you seem to allow her to be her. I am fascinated by your ability to tell a story and make it so interesting.
This video should be much more popular. Amazing video! One of the most peaceful things that anyone can do is driving thru California with a pocket full of gas money, not having one worry. It's even more amazing with good friends, family and especially your mate.
Thank you. That was an awesome trip.
Awesome and so detailed. Thank you!!!!!!!!
Not really pocket full of money well yea money is needed but a drive like you said is very healthy specially if your sharing it with good company and gas is needed to
i've done it a few times but not all at once, in pieces. we live in massachusetts but are due for a road trip way out west.
To see and hear a younger Robert back in the day. Upstate California is absolutely beautiful. Thank you Robert.
I absolutely love California! I went there with my wife in our honeymoon. Each time I want to "visit" California again, your video is the first place to go.
Greetz from Germany!
Thank you, greetings from Florida
Do you watch the GIV?
1/4 million views! Thank you all for watching!
thank you for sharing it with us :)
i know where to immigrate now
Thank you :)
Constantinos Charalambous I want it too! And i'm making steps for it.......(
Constantinos Charalambous Do you have any idea how to immigrate there?
Yes
I did a roadtrip along the coastal highway with my school 2 years ago, the beste experience i've ever had.
Hi Robert!! I have not seen your videos in a while . Summer keeps me busy. Just found this old video. Wow ! You are an American treasure! You do the best job of telling us what is great and what is not, unlike commercial travel shows. I want to hop in my truck and go to California right now! Will be a long trip being I am in NJ! Someday! THANK YOU!!
Thanks for showing our great state so eloquently....
No one could have done it better....
Groovy hairstyle at 55 year old, time flies so fast Robert, stay safe.
I love walking on The Golden Gate Bridge! It is very windy up there, but the view is worth it.
I've always wanted to visit Las Angeles, thanks Robert for taking me along with you.
You're very fortunate to be able to travel.
God bless you, 🙏
and safe travels.
Unlike many road trip videos with endless, disturbing, annoying, "drive you nuts" music, This one only with some light music between narrations, that's a smart arrangement. And the narrations accompanied the traffic noises, making it more realistic like the viewers were in the car with the traveler himself; very nice.
This is so lovely I just decided to do a road trip ,all by myself from July to august ,I enjoyed this and i will certainly use this to plan my trip. This is really wonderful.I cant wait.
Absolutely one of my favorite drives in the world.I don't know what I like better Big Sur or the Mendocino coast but they're both spectacular.
I did the same in September 2006. Makes me happy to see all the familiar things again.
Traveled from Edmonton to San Francisco as a teenager. Thank you for this video, so many memories.
+Lori Miller Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Great achievement! It's like traveling just staying in my chair with my iPad as a window on the world. This trip of yours through California makes me really understand why this State is so fascinating...
+Carlo Defilippi Oh yes 👍 California is great. Thank you!
I'm a native of Cali and have traveled and know this entire state in great detail. Your video did an excellent job in highlighting some of the great treasures of California. Fantastic Job.
+raw4u22 Thanks! Love Cali.
Theres so many talented people in one video .
My family did a road trip from NJ to CA in 1964..same time "Mad World " came out. We did the same route as you but with 10,000 less people and a lot less smog! If I could pick a Ground Hog Day that experience would be it. Thanks for the memories. ❤
Other than the penguin gynecology, which I could have lived without, you really did a great job on this.
Agree was hoping he would move on...geeze
This might sound weird but your voice is soothing, makes this video even more worth watching.

L00NATIK I
lolz his voice is not soothing
Yes ,he is,,did or are you a radio D.J.?
SLOW DOWN!!!
Spending the night at the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a must do. It was wonderful sleeping underneath the jelly fish tank and having run of most of the museum after dark and they have cool activities. Ten out of 10, would reccommend.
Love all of your videos. I’m learning so much about which RV I may like to buy. Thank you.
I like that the narrartor does not exaggerate and Gives his honest opinion.
I enjoyed this. The narration was very pleasant & informative as well. Thanks for this upload.
the background music in this video is great. perfect for California.
Thanks!
Believe every positive complements you receive in the comments I been reading and find that you adjusted to improve your experience at work I'm happy for you. You are a very skilled individual Gracias my Gratitude to YOU MR ROBERT.

Aah...thats what i needed. Almost like a retro journey🌞🌞🌞
I am SO going to California in 2015... just saving up, take 4 weeks off, pack my bags and go. These roadtripvideos are really helpful in deciding where I want to go. Thanks :-)
I am glad this was helpful to you. Thanks!
Did you come to California?
Finally a great travel video, entertaining, educational, informative and all around excellent. I really enjoyed your efforts of what you have made. I even have some good ideas you mentioned of where to go when visiting southern California. Please continue with more trip videos, I look forward to it. Thank You. (PS. I love the accent of your comments and the sense of humor).
I'm going,going....back,back..to cali,cali!!
Best videos ever of California. From Scotland
Thank you!
I think the fact that this video is not made for the purpose of making money, but pure passion for travelling and viewer entertainment is what makes this video so good!
+TheBjcn Thanks! Ironically (or not) this is the video that has made me the most money through RUclips ads.
TravelingRobert Haha, well earned money I would say!
Beautiful Video Robert. I'll be doing the same trip next month, San Fran to L.A. Just added a few more stops because of you. Thanks for sharing this :)
Really nice video! State Route 1 is my favorite highway.
Thank you Robert. Fun to look at all of my stomping grounds the way I've never seen them, before I moved away.
Thank you for sharing this and specially the penguins. What a joyful video.
Really enjoyed this Robert and it's so professional looking. Thanks you so much for all your efforts. That's one more subscription for you Sir!
+alex campbell Thank you so much
Wonderful video! This should be put on the Travel Channel 😊
Thank you! I wish.
I'm glad you enjoyed it Viktor
Thank you for letting us join you in your travels through your videos.
That was a really great video. I learned about places I didn't even know existed in Cali. It gave me some great ideas on places to stay when I visit LA. So beautiful.
Have a great time in LA.
Thankyou very much for this video and the sights it's my life long dream to visit and drive around America looking forward to seeing it within a couple of years 😄
+the cuzz Awesome! Enjoy your trip.
TravelingRobert ,b
Long... and very entertaining video. No need to visit anymore, I felt the whole experience in this video. My favorite part was all the colorful characters!
As a Californian who never tires of this route, you've done a great job showcasing Cali. I'm off to the north coast from Orange County to show my Great granddaughter the elephant seals and stay at Morrow Bay. Thanks again.
Thank you! Very glad you liked it
I love California that's my dream place
I live all the way in Connecticut , California so big and beautiful I want to go there one day or maybe in the future
I want to go to Connecticut :-)
Faithy517 , Hello from San Diego California. LA is best to visit but not to live, reason? Traffics is 24/7 grid locks. Go down south to San Diego then you can enjoy cleaner beaches or you can live in the City of Laguna Nigel. It’s between LA and San Diego. Did you know most celebrities and former US presidents resides in San Diego and not LA? Air in San Diego is also cleaner
i live in laguna niguel
Traveling Robert , go in the summer. I went to submarine school in the winter, which is why I asked for Hawaii.
Connecticut in the summer and California in the winter, perfect!
California has some of the best food in the world. I moved to the East Coast a few years ago and boy I miss Cali's food and beaches.
Thanks so much for posting this ! I truly enjoyed ever minute! Will be taking a road trip next month. Thanks again....continue your wonderful videos and your travels !
I love LA. I was born in SoCal and I'll die there. Currently I'm stuck in Texas for two months doing a job. I've been here for a month and I'm so homesick.
Great idea for a project! And I have to say I love this guy`s voice! :) All of us at BBR radio station just love watching this to relax! :)
This is pretty much the exact trip we did when we did our tour in 2019
LA
Monterey
San Francisco
Mammoth Lakes
Las Vegas
Gallup
Hereford, TX
Tulsa
Memphis
Nashville
St Louis
Chicago
Milwaukee
A total of 4264 miles, and it all started exactly the way this video shows. Amazing upload and thanks for bringing back some epic memories.
Just re-watched this video over the last two days. 3 times now always looking for what I may have missed previously. Your videos relax me & help relieve a stressful day.
Robert Crummel Thank you!
Good work!
I bet those 197 dislikes are the solicitors working on Hollywood hall fame lol
Ha, probably
Human First music background is overkill it makes the videos unwatchable.
@@glumGlumm if you don't like the music, you can always turn off your sound. Most of us love Robert's music.
JodiB 444 most creator abuse using music background this video fits that category. They dont own it and no credits on the video.
@@glumGlumm I agree that many OTHERS do that. BUT: To my knowledge, Robert writes, composes and performs his own music. He was a musician before he did travelogue videos, incidentally.
Great Video! I grew up in California. I moved to Texas in 2005 so I enjoy seeing videos of all the places I've been and/or plan on visiting when I go back home to see family.
That's so beautiful... I'm in awe simply from the video!! I especially LOVE that sunset in San Francisco. It's lovely.
This video is really good thank you!
First class vid Rob really enjoyed it,cheers from Australia.
Thank you
Aaaahhh going back to your more up to date videos. That drum beat and music was driving me nuts ! BRRRRR
Thank you so very much, Robert, for this beautiful and entertaining video. You did an absolute fantastic job. I enjoyed traveling with you and really liked your background music. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Just took this route this past week. Amazing views. Must try. But, you can avoid route 1 through LA to avoid traffic and all the red lights. Took us 2 hours on this route in LA.
There's nothing to see on this route in LA besides red lights every few blocks.
Monterey and Big Sur is where all the great views are.
Absolutely correct the views up the coast are breathtaking!
True but people hear so much about LA they wanna see it
@@lastnamefirst4035 I don't think they meant LA itself, just the LA part of the road.
if your just sticking to highway 1 in LA your not doing it right. you have to leave Highway 1 and get to the roads close to the ocean once you get south of LAX. there is a great road along the Palos Verdes Peninsula offering countless ocean views. then in san Pedro you go over these 2 massive bridges and get a great view of the largest US port complex. then in Long Beach you reconnect with Highway 1 for more great ocean views all along the OC coastline.
Robert you are a legend thanks for
this great video :D
Thank you!
I ENJOYED YOUR TOUR FROM END TO END OF THIS VIDEO ONE OF THE BEST SEEN THANKS
Thank you very much for your VDO. I watch it with a lot fun and memory, since I used to studied and lived in Southern California.
Great video🌻 and I love your voice!
Robert, you are by far the greatest and finest
travel host. i thoroughly enjoyed this video since
i live in Santa Cruz CA/Carmel CA.
How did you enjoy my neighborhood? Did you
get to go in the ocean at all ? we have gone to
Big Sur dozens of times and it never gets old.
it is truly God's country.
I'm going to watch all your videos. :+)
Chrissy Margo
Chrissy Margo Thank you! Glad you liked it. Big Sur is definitely one of the most beautiful places in this country. I didn't go into the ocean this time, but I'll be back in your area some day. I intend to do the same trip but going North to South and with more time to explore.
Hi Robert. Thank you for the fast response. how amazing!
When youre in the area again, my family and i want to show
you around Monterey, Pacific Grove, Moss Landing, Santa
Cruz and more. our number is 831.247.1203
Do you skype? if you do, my ID is Chrissy.margo00
Chrissy Margo That would be fantastic. We look forward to that. Thank you so much.
Time for another Robert video.
Robert is king of the guided travel videos
I appreciated viewing the contents of this video,so,well done and thank you !!
Love the video, very informative and professionally done. One of the best traveling videos I have seen. It has the soul!
Aw this made me miss my home! :( Great video though!
I would love to spend more time in LA
I lived in Southern California most of my life. The last three years I have been in Sacramento. I don't miss it down there one bit.
Love your videos!
Than you so much. I have never been to Sacramento.
Consider the Motherlode for one of your future trips. It's east of Sacramento throughout the Sierra Nevada mountains. Many old gold mining towns
Watched the whole video, great documentary and tour =)
Thanks so much. this was my first really popular video.
Coldplay-paradise was the music playing at 13:30
Great roadtrip! Great video! Thank you for sharing with us. Can't wait to visit California in two weeks :D
Thank you! I have really enjoyed your road trip and your explanations as I have never been to California and may not ever get there. Lovely views of the cities and the ocean.
I love california thanks for the vid
Cali is great. You're welcome.
This video is fantastic! Don't get it, how can 76 people disslike this amazing video? Thanks for uploading this video
Thanks so much! I guess you can never please everybody, and that's OK.
This video is so amazing! In so glad i found it. Thanks for Sharing and keep UP the awesome work!
Thank you. Brought back many fond memories of my two Florida to California trips.
wonderful video thank you so much for the upload
Thanks!
Good job Robert, congratulation.
REally easy to watch, entretaining unlike many travel videos out there. Thanks!
Thank you!
loved this brought back memories as we went to some of the places in your film over 10 years ago
As i always say... 279.000 views? God damnit, should be 279 million instead. Your videos are so great and for me this is the best one! Would love to do a trip to California sometime :) I'm very far from it though, in Portugal, such a long and expensive trip it is from here to LA... :S
VideoUploaderHD May your words be prophetic my friend...and may you California dream come true!
I see this everyday because I live in California!
@@TravelingRobert 1.1 Million is already a better number but this video is still worthy of much, MUCH more views.
what an awesome presentation this was! excellent video quality and enjoyable commentary. I agree with you about the touristy Hollywood Blvd... so fake and plastic and crowded with annoying tourists! it's nice to say you've been there but I also have no desire to go back.
we did this same trip in the reverse direction in 2010. we stopped in so many of the same places. Solvang was ok but to me it ended up feeling more like being in a theme park than in California. Los Olivos was wonderful and we also ate at the Wine Merchant Cafe and the Hitching Post! We were only able to drive thru Santa Barbara and like you added it to our list for a longer stay - we will be based there for a full week next month and also a full week in Morro Bay!
Hearst Castle was a great experience but it is best to make a reservation and there are crowds and parking to deal with. We are also going back there next month as some people in this group have not been there before.
loved Big Sur and stayed in this area for 3 days in the actual town... I noticed you mentioned McWay Rocks but you did not see the Falls? the only falls that empties straight into the ocean on the entire west coast - very scenic spot! I think Carmel is probably the most beautiful place I have ever been!
out of the 2 trips I have done between SF and Monterey I have never taken the PCH... we always take 101 / 17, but I would definitely go the way you did next time.
we stayed a couple different places in SF - North Beach, almost right across the street from The Stinking Rose actually. I got a nice photo of it's neon sign lit up at night. loved your 360 degree panorma btw! Also stayed in Pacific Heights which was amazing to live among those multi million dollar homes for a week!
the furthest north we went was Santa Rosa and Sonoma... still lots to explore!
thanks again for such an awesome video! just the perfect thing I was looking for to relax with on a Sunday afternoon!
Hi, thank you so much for your kind comment. I would definitely love to spend more time in California, and hopefully I will in the future. Will definitely spend more time in Santa Barbara and Big Sur, and next time I will check out the falls for sure. We had to reach Monterey before sundown... and there was just not enough time. Enjoy you future trip to Cali!
TravelingRobert thanks for the reply. I remember on our final day last time we raced to make it to Monterey (Pacific Grove) to catch a sunset which we literally got out of our car at the beach to see the last 20 seconds before it dipped below the horizon.
I wanted to mention one other place for you to consider - Catalina Island, off the coast from LA. you have to take a ferry to get there and leave your rental car behind. the only transportation on the island are golf carts! make sure you rent a condo that includes use of a golf cart for the most enjoyment and value. I think we saw a business renting golf carts for $40/hr if you can believe that. I can not imagine anyone would pay that price!
cheers, looking forward to checking out more of your videos...
What a fantastic video, thanks for taking the time to make it.
Great video! I'm going to LA
Thanks! Enjoy!
Thank you very much!! Really enjoyed every second of the video. Do upload more videos!! 👏👏😂😂
Thank you. I will... and have many more
Loved watching this, I've made the trip many times when my kids were younger! Felt like revisiting the past! We enjoy your channel immensely, especially the travel vids with stops at local shops, restaurants & attractions.👍🤠
Watching this in 2021, I can't get over the huge CROWDS !!! Sooo tired of this pandemic! Enjoyed your video!
Really enjoyed this video, but did we have to see the entire penguin mating? :P
What do you mean? That was the best part :-)
many women like that
Very nice!! I love LA I'm fro Melbourne Australia!! Extreamly boring here don't even come here haha!! Very nice video
***** Oh yes. Australia is definitely in the "bucket list"
It's very much like England but much more lower! It's a good place but there's not much to do here.. And very expensive
***** Try living in LA haha. Aint the grass greener on the other side.
What way do you mean that friend.. 004spaw
***** just that we dont appreciate the goldmine we have and yearn for what is on the other side. All the best.
I grew up in California and didn't get to many of these spots until after I moved out of state. Thank you for such an enjoyable tour-Your narration was just right and you did your research about where to stop!
Excellent trip, thanks so much for taking us along. As a former native Californian, I always love going back there with a quality traveler like yourself. Good for you!
I live in LA :) and I love it.. The bad thing is everything is $$$$$
Come to Puerto Rico, and you will see it is more expensive living here
