i'm seeing him next month for a Q and A preceded by a screening of "holy grail". i want so much to go up and ask, "is this the right room for an argument?", but i don't know if he would take the cue and join in. i would hope that the sketch is so ingrained in his memory that he could pull it off,but i'd hate for it to fall flat on its face. i've got michael palin's part memorized. all john has to do is argue/contradict me. i guess i wont know until the event if i have the balls to try it.

He would at least be amused. I spoke to him before this panel and asked, "What's brown and sounds like a bell?" He laughed and seemed quite happy.

He was a raconteur. I'm amazed that he got through 4 questions. Alec Baldwin was waiting for John in the wings and looked like he was going to prank John on stage had it not overran.

I agree that the past has a lot of great comedy, but he's incorrect about Charlie Chaplin skating next to a real drop. Chaplin did all the rollerskating, but the floors below were a painting matted onto glass in front of the camera. It was groundbreaking at the time, but they did it. So no, he didn't risk his life to do that bit.

    I love his humor!
I know he said you get tired and he is 84 but he is also kind of fat and if he shed that I'm sure he'd feel a lot different.

disagree that all great comedy comes from the past, i.e. chaplin, Laurel and Hardy etc. They were exceptionally crude and of their time. The Marx brothers were the exception because they transcend time since they incorporated sophisticated visual comedy, verbal comedy, dialogue, mime etc. Other than that, Cleese is spot on and a great genius of comedy. He was totally the driving force behind Python.

He was funny as hell w/no, filter, but host shouldn't ask so many questions. Ask 1 or 2 then let the crowd
