Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends is a science fantasy real-time strategy video game for Microsoft Windows, made by Big Huge Games, and published by Microsoft. It is a spin-off of the popular Rise of Nations, released in May 2003. However, rather than being a historical game, it is based in a fantasy world, where technology and magic co-exist. It was released on May 9, 2006 in North America and on various dates around May 26, 2006 in the rest of the world.

This has to be the most underrated RTS ever. Enormous scale, beautiful visuals, some of the coolest unit designs, it's a shame we live in a timeline where Starcraft is played over this.
Exactly, starcraft is nothing compared to this, I cant even believe how this game is not popular, its insane.

While the game is awesome, it has plenty of bugs and not sure how balanced it is because some faction (Vinci) is clearly stronger than the others.
I really want to play this but i can't find it anywhere. Is is still available?
@@ZafrasF I think it's more like a certain faction (Alin) is weaker than the others. The Cuotl can be a good challenge for the Vinci, especially if you don't plan your units right. Of course, by the time the master units are out, the Vinci have a clear advantage. The Cuotl can gain early air superiority, but things shift, once the air destroyers come out.
Best RTS, need a digital release with working multiplayer!

The 4K resolution looks great! Bring back old memory!
PS: I wish there's a sequel or something similar. I like its mechanics -- especially unlike other similar games where they show numbers on top of the units clustering the screen.
I hope this game gets a remaster that irons out the bugs and unit responsiveness because it's one of my favorite games ever and while I finished it several times on the hardest difficulty and enjoy playing from time to time those random crashes and unit movement cast some shadow over it. Also has some of the best supreme units ever, love me some big ass op units like the Leviathan (favourite unit of the game)

I remember when this game came out, I saw it in the best buy for $60. I wanted to play it but I knew our Pentium 3 Pre-built PC would never be able to handle this game.

Wish people talked about this game more, its so underrated! I used to love playing it sadly my copy just wont work on windows 10 😢. Thankfully i have a windws xp now to play it ! I cant wait!!

I used to play this game few years ago. absolutely loved it
Nowdays I play Command and Conquer 3 but while playing I often wish the game had more depth and scale to it like Rise of Legends (not to mention the overall creative design). C&C3 is a better game overall because it's more balanced and well polished but then again when playing that game I miss the stuff Rise of Legends has like hero units, amazing soundtrack, huge maps, slower more tactical, less micro managy gameplay with better player controls etc.
This is my most played and favorite rts with friends back then, along with UaW:EA after wc3 is declining
The theme is most unique even up to this day, this is the only rts that successfully presented magic vs science vs arcane tech
IF there is no CD/DVD reader, there is a disc drive. Is it possible to transfer the ISO somehow and solve the run? As I am facing this problem. I'm having trouble with pirated versions. Also, on a laptop with today's win 10, an error occurs, the screen sometimes freezes or goes black. Sometimes for 5 seconds, sometimes for 2 minutes. Any solution to this?

How do you fix the small UI in 4K resolution??? When i set the resolution in 4K all the interface is too small.
I recommend divinity dragon commander, another unique rts, still one if its kind even today, also from the same developer as RoL

Has anyone been able to get this to work with Windows 11? My copy has survived many Windows upgrades. It was running fine under Windows 10, but it stopped working, once I was upgraded to Windows 11. Be aware, if you're looking for this game. As far as I know, it will only work, up to Windows 10. The nice thing about the game is that it's entirely 3D. This makes it scalable, and the maps can be rotated. Its Rise of Nations predecessors used pre rendered images for buildings, and 3D for the units.

Steam has Rise of Nations but no Ride of Legends! Why? If someone made a revamped modern day version of this game with new tech and new graphics I'm sure that it would see both sales and playtime.
Game sucks compared to rise of nations
First play the game then evaluate it. I doubt you were even born when this legendary game got released.

Tbh I love this game but rise of Nations is more famous, fan favourite, better designed, and more money is spend on it
