Smarter solution, there are lots of people, they could have taken shovel and cleared the road and improved road coefficient of friction. Also front wheel drive vehicles should have given in reverse, do that torque and traction is on front wheels to provide more grip.
Clearing this section requires a JCB kind of thing, coz it freezes every night in winters due to continuous water flow. Moreover, a single snow chain at rear did the trick for us, see Thar & Endeavour, and minimal effort was required to cross.

Alto driver was not good, I've personally taken on steeper and slippier mountains with my alto 800 2014 than this in one shot without much skidding
It's all about man and machine combo ✌️
Not everyone can be a good driver on snow.
