Much better than the average 30s and 40s low budget indie. Lots of fun with excellent photography. Great visual sense of composition. Check out the group scene at around 17:00. He manages to capture all 9 characters distinctly in different parts of the room in one shot, perfectly framed.
Amazing...1934 and that dance scene had actual near-east music (not the Hollywood cliche version) and even showed musicians playing a dumbek and oud! For a low budget film, that's pretty impressive!
How did I enjoy this movie! 🎥❤ Probably one of the first attempts to create a comedy/horror genre. At first, pure horror cinema had huge success but also a downside. People were complaining of extreme anxiety, nightmares and some even sue productions of miscarriages due stress caused by shock. And some of those horror flicks of 1920s were pretty much disturbing to watch. Here we have a spook, but not too much so prudent sensitive crowd couldn't handle👻.
The dance at 3:10 was not an Indian Classical or religious dance rather it was associated with the Egyptian or Arabic culture. Mix-up of two unique and distinct culture.
An"unusual"type of movie& one,not so easily to follow! I stayed tuned to the plot to find out,"what" was going on,in it! Acting Was Good& I did Not know any of them,tho.Thanks4 showing,PizzaFlix.
"The house is all right. it's the people in it!" "i'm going to the zoo." "no, you're not. you're already in one." there are so many old bits in this movie - LOL i wonder if it had been a play? one of those drawing room comedies.
Motion Pictures for Television 1934? Television didn’t exist then except in the lab or Germany where they had regular TV broadcasts using Nipkow disc mechanical TV. The BBC had Baird mechanical TV but not regular broadcasts and certainly no one thought of movies. This title must have been added later.
People were more evolved back then...and today the culture has bottomed out with a total lack of interest in the art and quality of movie making...and the deal..the money... is all that matters.
I wonder if that's a young lady that ended up playing the grandma on the Waltons. She sure looks the same only younger. The lady with the hat and companion btw.
so, this is a comedy - it is fun. the insurance guy must have been well known- always playing this kind of part - at least it feels like that. i'd like to check out some other early 30's movies.
It is India but music and dance Turkish, Hindu god shiva( Turks do not know anything about shiva) is also there this person did not know anything about India or Turk ( Turks more like Greek, Italian). Like using Mexican music, instrument, and dance in a movie about Africa.
This would have been a much better with the cast of "The Coconuts" with the Marx Bros. and everyone else in that genuinely-funny old film (their first). Margaret Dumont as the old lady, Zeppo as the insurance guy, Chico as the plumber, etc.
I could totally see that - it would have been much funnier. Incidentally Verna Hillie who played the blond in this had an uncredited part in "Duck Soup" with the Marx Brothers as Trentino's blonde secretary.
Nice little film. To bad the opening title is not original. Some movies had that done to them when a distributor got hold of titles for airing on tv in the 50s, more likely the real title no longer exists?
Oh yes if Europeans hadn't of colonized India, the rest of the world would if left them alone. Lol, I've been hearing that shit for ever. If the English hadn't if came to America. What ?The French ,and the German and Spanish and the Dutch certainly were champing on the bit to get here. You think that the north american continent would still be tee hee and wig wams? You are delusional.
Who would have thought that stuffed Gorillas were a customary mounted hunted prize for a Lawyer's den Where are the Moose Head or Shark wall mounts !!!!! This movie made me giggle throughout YAY Pizza Flix
Totally watching this with a slice of pizza...
Meanwhile, I'm enjoying "Jolly Time" Blast o' Butter popcorn!
Thank you PF for dropping this gem of a mid-30s horror/mystery . The bumbling detective , Ape , undercover Scotland Yard , it was all great fun .

I saw this as a child and always remembered it. Some good use of sound and some very good scenes, well worth a look.
The comedy is priceless, the plot fun, lovely movie.
So much fun and the quips just kept coming! Thank you, Pizza!!
This is much better than the usual Poverty Row pictures that are floating around on the internet. Very enjoyable. Thank You for the posting.
Classic oldie . Very good film.
A delightful movie for 1934 with a little comedy mixed in
Old flix like this look more like stage dramas than motion pictures. And some of them are even hammier.
"Dead as Prohibition..." I can hear '30s audiences cackling at that one!
... " Cackling & Tipsy " Given the Year... Glug! Glug! Glug! 🍷 🍻
Thanks pizza flixs Happy Father's Day to your family 2019 , thanks for the old classic .
I love this genre. The older the better. But why so many deleted videos in your list?

The dance at 3:10 was not an Indian Classical or religious dance rather it was associated with the Egyptian or Arabic culture. Mix-up of two unique and distinct culture.

Nancy, at 11:43, "David Sells" is George 'Gabby' Hayes w/o his whiskers...
Ty for posting.
Does anyone remember the movie "clue" ? This is starting to remind me of that movie!
LOL Good job, Horatio! You sure gave the old bag a fright.
Fun to be absorbed in this fantasy this Saturday evening. 😎
An enjoyable flick to watch.
Great flick thanks so much!
18:33 $2M in 1934 is worth $38,292,000 in 2019. That would last me a couple of wkeds!!!
Parts of this are pretty funny, e.g. the tough old bird wife versus her absent-minded professor hubby.
Anyway, the name of "Father Flatulence", is a total gas !! What a gas! It is so hilarious I just love it !
"The house is all right. it's the people in it!"
"i'm going to the zoo." "no, you're not. you're already in one."
there are so many old bits in this movie - LOL i wonder if it had been a play? one of those drawing room comedies.
It's apparently an adaptation of the play "The Ape" by Adam Hull Shirk.
I was talking about the Comments & Replys section, NOT the movie credits for God's sake.
THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE FAINTING, DYING,AND SEEING THINGS IN THIS HOUSE. THEY SHOULD HAVE LOOKED FOR GAS LEAKS.
Back in the day...
"He's dead"...drinks water lol..Brilliant 😊
Good movie thank you

"Poverty Row" films or movies! It just totally cracks me up!! Tee hee hee!
I love old movies!
People were more evolved back then...and today the culture has bottomed out with a total lack of interest in the art and quality of movie making...and the deal..the money... is all that matters.
I don’t think he really wants crumpets nor wants to get married!! I better leave it at that.............
Oh, he wanted her crumpets alright.🙀
I wonder if that's a young lady that ended up playing the grandma on the Waltons. She sure looks the same only younger. The lady with the hat and companion btw.
No.
I watched “Maniac”- 1934 and they got away with a graphic cat killing and some boob shots!! Pre-code I guess!
Yep. And sex with a zombie. I wonder how many guys paid 5¢ or 10¢ again & again just to see those scenes.🧟♀️👀
Back when people were still thin .
LMAO!! I can remember when I was thin. I'm not obese but could lose a few pounds!!!!
...and White.
Great depression.
1929-1939.
I’m still thinking.
I’ve been thin all my life
I knew this was going to be a good movie when I saw that Claire Julianne provided the costumes.😒🙄
The Monster Balks -ha! (1932)
Those are real pith helmets, not fake!
A better title might have been Hindu Hoax. This is not "horror"; it's comedy.
I think a LOT of the older monster movies should be classed as comedy. That should not prevent us from enjoying them..
so, this is a comedy - it is fun. the insurance guy must have been well known- always playing this kind of part - at least it feels like that. i'd like to check out some other early 30's movies.
I love old American movies. I'm from Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!
It is India but music and dance Turkish, Hindu god shiva( Turks do not know anything about shiva) is also there this person did not know anything about India or Turk ( Turks more like Greek, Italian). Like using Mexican music, instrument, and dance in a movie about Africa.
I waited the whole time for the 3 Stooges to show up.
That was a different sort of who/what done it! Ah, so, where was the loot???? Good sauce @PizzaFlix
"Kale-Eye", huh?...Heh heh… :)
Joyzelle Joyner: Chanda(as Laya Joy).....what's in a name?
So is that a Mario Brother wandering around?
Bob Hoskins did play one the movie.
not bad.
Stock footage and no expense spent. 🤣🤣

Speaking of long windedness 🙉
35:40 "Well, leave it to Pocahantas. One thing... she won't Squawn - der it. " Oh my ~
Could Pocahontas find the monkey wrench?

Corny, but fun to watch.
Mouse of history
That inspector stinks
Was that one person's name at the bottom "FatherFlatulence"?
I meant on the Comments & Replys, NOT on the movie credits for God's sake.
There was no Rameses IV. Only Rameses I and Rameses II.
donkey KONG anyone?
KONG
🙀🙀🙀🙀😜😼😼😼😉😉😉
98% of anything alive in this movie and world that was alive on that time are dead 🪦
European colonialism at it's worst.
Commentary at it's most juvenile level.
"Its".
What was its best? Which of them was the least "disturbed"?
Oh yes if Europeans hadn't of colonized India, the rest of the world would if left them alone. Lol, I've been hearing that shit for ever. If the English hadn't if came to America. @@anvilhammerforged2415 Grammar!
Ridiculous stupid movie. I never heard of the actors in this movie
Who would have thought that stuffed Gorillas were a customary mounted hunted prize for a Lawyer's den Where are the Moose Head or Shark wall mounts !!!!! This movie made me giggle throughout YAY Pizza Flix
This isn't a mystery or horror, it's a comedy.
The mystery was: Who was beating the tom-tom?🤔
Speaking of long windedness 🙉
