Goex was a black powder plant located in Moosic, PA. It has operated since the early 1900's but due to the nature of the job, several explosions have happened over the years killing several employees. Come with us as we take a look at what remains on the grounds of the Goex Powder Plant. Enjoy
Goex was the only manufacturer of black powder for the civilian market in the US. Theres one in Indiana i believe for the US military used in their big guns between primers and powder, as in a duplex load
6:08 building looks like it hasnt been used in over a decade
Awesome as always. It's great to see the things I missed.
jeffgrantMEDIA we both always show the viewers something different. i think the cube cam did its job showing everyone how far we had to travel to see this place.
Love your sound effects..great touch!😊
glad you enjoy them
very cool brother nice video very informative never herd of this place
Jay Drone i grew up minutes away and was working nearby when explosions went off. visited it back in the late 90s but didnt have a camera back then.
the wooden part reminded me of an old rollercoaster. the cube footage was great
journey_with _jay reminded me of a coaster as well, suprised they used that steep of a grade for ore carts.
Ironically Dupont began this company and the father of Pierre DuPont (the most well known businessman) died working in a nitro factory explosion.
great video JP very cool to see buddy
Electrical_Dynamo thanks bud
Really enjoyed that explore. The explosions and fire must have done a lot of damage to the structures .That looks like too much destruction to just be natural decay in only 26 years. We never appreciate the danger people might encounter to bring us our products........( or our awesome videos ..).thanks JP,
Wish I could find this place
Just watched your video where you were up by the Dunmore Reservoir looking for the QT references. Just so happens to be one in this video at the 11:45 mark. I’ll never forget the night in ‘97 the plant went up. I was outside of my parents house playing basketball in Old Forge and heard the two explosions.
It was so loud
Holy Schnikes that must have sounded like massive cannon blasts. 😱
Heard it miles away
0:19, that Jesus and the giraffe is also on a bridge in pa.
i also saw it on a bridge on 81 near pittston
This would be a great place for a paranormal investigation!
I may do one here at some point
great video guys! I used to live in Avoca in the 1970- 1999 and I could tell you stories of this place, I wish I could contact you.
John Berlinski if you wish to contact me, just send me a message on my fb page. link is in the description.
Recently another explosion happened at GOEX (Lousiana) on the Wheel Mill. Does anyone know how many of them did they have? Thank God no casualties.
Per Goex, there will be no more Goex powder made.
@@556suppressorgoex is being made again. Hodgdon owns it I believe
What camera you use?
turbodxgaming my main camera is a Panasonic hc-v550 and the video on top of the car was a Polaroid Cube.
So sad
One only has to see this video and look into how many people have died to understand why Black Powder is so incredibly dangerous. Even the safer, but closest substitute to it known as Pyrodex still uses Black Powder and it resulted in the co-developer Dan Pawlak's death along with three others when a powder magazine flared up at Hodgdon's Washington based facility.
Today Hodgdon owns the GOEX name, and Pyrodex along with Goex is made in a state of the art facility with very minimal human interaction.
Don’t forget 777. Have used it in 10mm loads. Real black in others. Have a flintlock too
that place was plagued with explosions poor buildings poor people
I still have a pound of 4F from that plant.
I also have a can of 2f
Where is it located? I can't find it on google.
its difficult to find, only thing i can tell you is that its located around the outskirts of the airport. heavily covered by trees.
😎😮😮😀👍🏼
