    Omg I loved it Hannah, this was amazing! I would love to see a one-take-tut on soap brows for sure :) And thank you so much for the sweet words, just know I feel the same. Meeting you was one of the highlights of 2019. First time but not the last! :)

    watching unedited, full process grwm, using basically just one product really emphasizes the fact that beautiful results can be done with much less than most beauty channels make us believe neccessary. really insipiring, that.
    thanks, hannah!

    You could definitely get away with doing one take tutorials more often. You’re so eloquent and interesting in how you speak. It really didn’t feel that different to normal! Xx

    This is exactly how I would make my videos if I ever start a RUclips channel . I have four kids and no times for hours of editing. I love it. It reminds me of old school RUclips. Everything wasn't so precise and feeling like a perfectly curated channel. It was just people who love makeup talking about it.

  • @Lynnonymous
    @Lynnonymous 5 лет назад +14

    I'm only in like 7 minutes, but I love this! You've established your RUclips channel in such a "real" type/style that a an unedited (real time) video fits completely. I really hope you do more of these. Especially if it will save you some time. In a world being taken over my consumerism, highlight reels on social media, it is such a breath of fresh air to see someone doing something real. I hope that makes sense. I know what I'm trying to say, just having issues with words today. 😂

    “I burped. Did you see that?” LOL. Your lip application was completely gestural. You channeled Lisa Eldridge after just talking about her. You are being guided to be more intuitive, spontaneous and less controlling. Great spiritual practice.

    Ummm... Why in the hell would you spend time editing when you are effing amazing in a one take?...lol. You Rock!!! Take back your time and just go with it. Those of us that love you on here will love that you are natural, not "retouched" so to speak.

      👏🏻 “Unedited you” is just as fun to watch as “edited you.” It reminds me of hanging out with a girlfriend before hitting the club.
      Your videos inspire me to try things outside my comfort zone. Blush draping and using a single eyeshadow are my new favorite techniques. Thank you. 🐱

    I loved this look (and look forward to the cream version!) and more importantly loved the style of the video. You are pleasant to watch in all your videos, but I got an even more authentic feel from this video, and you even seem more multi faceted (not that you’re one dimensional in your normal videos) :)

  • @cecileganel
    @cecileganel 5 лет назад +1

    Hannah, I know I tell you I love all of your videos (because I do), but this one was extra special. I’m not going to say “oh you could hardly tell the difference”, because I could! I could tell a difference in the best possible way. It reminded me of a time in my life when I had the only female roommate I’ve ever had and we would get ready for work at the same time. We would sit in the bathroom together and just put on makeup talking and shooting the breeze. It was like we were hanging out.... it was just so authentic. Your realness translates well in general, but this was just *chef’s kiss* perfect.
    Also, I loved the look. This is one I do often for work. I just use bronzers and blushes to sculpt out my face and do a fun lip. You’re just so gorgeous darling!

    A Hannah's video on Saturday? So excited!!! I was just rewatching some of your old videos to pass the time, I think I make up half of your total views considering how many times I re-watch your videos! lol Also, I wanted to say that the plant behind you looks incredible, and also reminds me of that time you described your style as 'lush minimalism', which I've been taking into consideration a lot when I shop, clothes or houseware or anything like that! I'm super excited that you decided to try and post more, I really appreciate your channel and how much work goes behind it! Have a good weekend!!!

  • @Sweetgotham

    It's interesting to see in the first few mins how much more relaxed and casual it comes off as when you do it this way. So much of us love how careful and poised you are but in an already highly performative space, this does give more of a personal feel. I think this format is great for empties, the unready with me already mentioned below, updates, and even check ins. Once you get the practice in, it really will get easier (and props to Ricardo for being so spot-on!).

    ahhhh surprise upload!!! it's noon here in Hungary and I'm in the middle of cleaning my kitchen, had to stop to watch this! also, it is interesting and inspiring to see you getting out of your comfort zone, recently I've tried to do that as well by joining a public speaking club at my office and I want to channel some of your good humor when it's time to present my first speech to the group!

    • @HannahLouisePoston

      that is so wonderful! I'm sure you will do amazing! Practice is everything when it comes to public speaking.

  • @FirienStar
    @FirienStar 5 лет назад +4

    As someone who used to do a lot of performing and now teaches a lot the trick to “one take” or uninterrupted presentation speaking boils down to three things :
    1. Self correction words when you say the wrong thing. I make random speaking errors all the time. I usually say something like “ I mean _______ rather”, or “______ I mean “ swiftly after an error. Don’t apologise, don’t stop, don’t laugh, just clarify and move on. Your audience will likely forget almost instantly. News presenters are pros at this.
    2. Speaking slowly with emphasis and put pauses in order for you to think. If you are ad libbing you need to allow thought time to create grammatically correct and clear sentences. Listen to TED talks for some ideas of what I mean. This means avoiding filler sounds “ah/er/um” with silence, which can be made to be your style.
    3. Don’t be afraid to have a little bit of “dead air”. It’s ok if there are moments where you are showing and not speaking, especially if it is worked in nicely with the speed of your speech. It’s part of the ritual of showing and talking.
    I hope you do this kind of thing again! I’m very very cool toned and I have rosacea so even despite this correct colour matching can be difficult.

    Long story for an eyeliner recommendation: I was in Spain in May and my purse was snatched. Among other things, I lost some everyday makeup products including my NARS black eyeliner that I use to tightline every time I do my makeup. I feel like my eyes are naked without it. We stopped by a drugstore in Madrid and I picked up a L’Oréal Infallible Gel Crayon Waterproof Eyeliner. I figured it would work in a pinch. It turned out to be amazing. It goes on easily, smoothly and very black and wears a lot better than the NARS one. I was so pleasantly surprised. I now have a new and less expensive staple - yay! Ricardo was right about the one take video - great job! 😊

    Yea... Hannah unedited! Melanie, who has the channel MrKongsmom, never edits and I love her channel. My fav pencil for the water line/tight line is Physicians formula shimmer strips pencils. Comes in a package of 3 different color gradients for around $11 or so. There are a few different color stories, but I think they all have a black. I get the nude which has a black, dark brown and light brown. Ironically I always give the black away, next time I'll save it for you 😊

    I agree when you watch certain MUAs they are not so rigidly perfect, switching to 25 different brushes for every different section of an eyelid with complete precision. They apply it organically, it's living, fluid, beautiful.

    This was PERFECT! It was REAL!! Just down to earth, like hanging out with a girl friend doing make-up together. We don't get to go back & edit life, so that's why this was just natural. I have spent 10 years trying to break from 'not having to be perfect'. Sadly I am also 65, but happily I am so glad because it has changed alot & feel better & staying young 😉 I hope this helps & live "Life" with all you just are 🤗❣

No shade on anyone earning pay for their hard work! I love beautify edited videos too, but my favorite RUclipsrs are people like you who have a career or careers outside of YT, and I appreciate it when the reality of their every day human existence comes through, and is all in the wonderful imperfections .

    After watching this, I can’t tell too much of a difference from your usual videos. You could definitely do this kind of videos more often, and you wouldn’t go too far off brand. I was however surprised at how few times you say “umm” or lose your train of thought - I do that so often, and assume others do too! But this way I can really hear that you work with words for a living - written and spoken. I appreciated it!

    As far as liner pencils, I think the new ELF no budge retractable liner has just edged out the LA girl glide gel liner as my favorite. I have hooded eyes that can water at the corner and it seemed that every eyeliner on the planet would smudge and transfer. But the elf one has made me think ‘oh hell yea’ every time. Plus it’s only $3. And, if they have it still, I really recommend the JKissa collaboration liner! The tealy-blue color of her liner is so beautiful, unique and fun.

    I loved this video! I got ready alongside you & it felt like I was getting ready with an old friend lol. I enjoyed getting to see your more “imperfect” side too, the little burp and stumbling over some of your phrases made it feel extra real if that makes sense because that’s what we all do & can’t edit out in real life! As far as black eyeliners, my favorite ones for the waterline are the Ulta house brand gel pencil liners. I have one in brown & one in black & they’re phenomenal! They really set down fully & don’t smudge or budge on me for hours & I have quite watery eyes.

    The best drugstore eyeliner I've tried (as a contact wearer with some allergy/watery eye business) is the Maybelline color drama gel pencil. They dry out a little quickly so make sure to cap them tightly, but there's a nice array of colors, not just neutrals if you feel like branching out. I was definitely sad when I decided to go cruelty free and locked Maybelline out of my life--they have such good makeup staples!

    I also used to think I had a cool undertone because my skin is quite pale and my nose and cheeks get pretty red/pink, but I discovered only about six months ago that I have a mostly neutral undertone that leans a bit yellow/olive. Hannah, thank you for this video! I enjoyed the "conversation" and it was inspiring to see how to use bronzer on pale skin (like mine). I would love to see a One Week One Palette video again!

    I know you said you don’t want to buy a high-end eyeliner but...
    If you have watery eyes, which I do too, Marc Jacobs gel eyeliners are really the best long-lasting eyeliners.
    They are the only ones that stay all day on my waterline.
    I also use them on my top lash line and a smudger brush to give the shape I want.
    I’m sorry...I’ve tried a lot of drugstore eyeliners but never found one that was even half as good as the MJ.
    Edit: I loved this video!
    I think it would be great to mix it up a bit...one or two no-edit videos a week in amongst your regular edited videos. And they don’t have to be “how to’s”, they could be general chat videos about life and thoughts while you do your makeup.💖🌸👍🏻😁

    Love this look so much! As far as drugstore eyeliner is concerned, I think the Rimmel Scandeleyes waterproof eyeliner works well for me and I have sensitive eyes.

    Rimmel scandalise hands down. Best budget friendly. Matches my old Nars one in texture and quality.

    Totally know what you mean about the ease and confidence some people have when doing their makeup... also why I like her channel and why I really enjoyed bailey Sarian awhile back. 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

    I actually really loved this video. “I burped and I can’t edit that out.” 🤣
    I enjoy the NYX eyeliners for how cheap they are. I know Jaclyn Hill swears by the Maybelline gel eyeliner in the pot for the waterline because it doesn’t smudge as much but I’ve never tried it but I’ve been wanting to. I also really love that Lilah b. setting spray.

    This video was great! I love unedited videos. Bh Cosmetics recently came out with a gel eyeliner. I believe it comes in black.
