- HOW TO BERLEY OFF THE ROCKS IN NZ FOR SNAPPER, TREVALLY, KAHAWAI & YELLOWTAIL KINGFISH. Here are some tips to get the most out of your rock fishing missions for snapper and other species. These principles can work in the boat too.

Epic fishing trip up at Cape Karikari - a crazy hot snapper bite as well as schools of trevally and kahawai, Dolphins, whales flying fish and sun fish also encountered. Awesome day up in the Far North, and it was just day one of our trip.

Hi Scott, I understand the importance and need of Berley to the LBG fishman. However, for us, LBG often means tough terrain, slippery rocks, long journey to spots. Taking too much berley on LBG trip is not easy and not fun either any pragmatic suggestion for the dilemma that I have been encountering? Any way that I can possibly to make berley on the spot? Any feedback is much appreciated
If you have a group of 3 anglers, you can share the load and still take advantage of the berley once it is in the water. The salmon berley is probably the oiliest berley out there, you can make smaller holes to help regulate how much gets leeched out but still have a trail. making sure it's not smashing against the rocks will help you not lose too much all at once, It's a bit of trial and error. If you catch kahawai on location and use the fillets for eating or bait, then using the frames on a rope rubbing up and down can be very helpful too.
Catch loads of spotties and kahawai and chum them
What do you use to get underwater footage apart from a gopro?
I only use a Gopro but have it on a long extendable handle.
