Thanks for the video. Being in a poor HF area, the web SDR's are a fantastic option and thanks to all those who make their RX's available.

This is a great general explanation of websdr's, but how about a video of exactly how to and when to use different filtering, what to look for in a waterfall, where to place your cursor, when to and why you would use USB over LSB or AM, IQ, NBFM, what do all the extensions do and what is "WF" and why would you change max/min/rate, what do the various tabs do and when would you change each, what the filters do and when to use them, etc. Most of the interface is self-explanatory but there are a lot of nuances of the control panel I think need some detailed explanation. It would be very helpful to new people to the hobby, including myself ;-) Thanks!

Thanks for the video :) When you've turned the SDR receiver on via Spy Network, a man said his call sign EM9FF/p. I think the SDR console is more flexible than WebSDR.

I purchased an RTL-SDR and was disappointed I needed a better antenna to pick up something outside of FM. Being able to surf and use this equipment remotely filled my time in the evening and allowed me to play using WebSDR. Had a blast and motivated me to find a great antenna or two. Thanks for sharing, your videos are very informative.

Thanks for the comment! This is exactly why most people who start off in SDR quit because they don't realise a half decent antenna is required. Thanks for sharing your story.

I use a local OpenWebRX WebSDR to compare the performance of antennas on transmit. The readings in dBm may not be especially precise, but it is very handy if you want a rough relative indication.

I stumbled on your channel and I now use the KiwiSDR, I love it. I am still exploring what it does, I know I'm late on posting here but can you explain some of the other functions like the noise blankers etc I tried them but some knock out the signal altogether, I also notice a lot of statons seem to be slightly off frequency, what I mean is in the WRTH handbook they may be listed at such and such but if I tune up or down they become clearer, some I find hard to identify mainly coz of language, I sit and listen waiting for the announcment and sods law it fades at that moment lol.

This is very interesting but for those of us that have no background knowledge nor prior experience, this is incredibly overwhelming as it provides no starting point. Yes, I can go to webSDR and poke around but even that has created more questions than answers. I’m sure this video wasn’t aimed at first time users- and by no means am I attempting to diminish the value of the authors hard work and effort spent on this video or be maliciously critical and dismissive, but I was hoping that I could take some of the info here and work my way into it.

I am 80 yrs old, I use a radio for SWLing but this in my opinion is cheating as an operator has to add on SDR receiver and feed from his countries signals you would not hear under present HF conditions on line as it comes straight down a telephone line it is to easy ,doing away with the excitement of long distance DX.. I would rather stick to HF listening the conventional and well proven way...M1EDF CW OP ONLY..
