Thanks! True. I do like to keep one foot in reality when doing this project. I think it helps sell my future layout as more believable. I'm gonna be doing enough things that never existed.
Very nicely detailed , love the clip near the end especially , showing of the typography of the land there when the consist slides down from the rise .... very nice ... cheers thanks for sharing.
Thanks Roy. I'm glad you like it. That's gives me courage to keep talking about my thought process. Gotta have something to talk about if I'm going to be a narrator, right?
This was pretty cool. I especially like that you have actual rolling terrain, it was cool to see the train come around the curve and climb up and then drift down the sag. I don't think I have ever seen that modeled.
That is the location of the Continental Divide on the WDHS. No wonder the UP chose it as the first crossing. Looks more like a mole hill than a divide.
My dad worked for CNW at that time period. He hired on the rock island after viet nam....just did for a job....I got him into model railroading...he modeled EJ&E
What...what?? This is not your final, be all to end all layout? Man oh man. I would have called my model railroad career a wrap but you see visions of a bigger house and more layout. Godspeed to that endeavor!! Nice job on the narration and the historic info. Love the sound of the dynamic brakes kicking in at that downhill grade.
At 46, I plan on building several more layouts. Hell, I'm just getting started. Thanks for the kind words. All of my locos have loksound in them. Why, because I too love that dynamic howl.
I love the weathering. Although I’m modelling n scale I still have an old Athearn HO SD45 that I had as a kid when I wanted to build a HO scale layout.
Thank you. They were a project a long time in the making. As soon as I stumbled across photos of the real ones, I knew I had to replicate them. But back then the only ones I could find were Athearn RTR and they didn't have any of those railroads.
I could model a strict prototype but I really want to create something that is singularly mine. And of all the what-if's ( when it comes to Pacific Extensions) I think this would be one of the more plausible ones.

Allen love the SD45's they look great. Could you contact me sir? I have a few questions about your weathering as I have some CNW GE's as well as some ATSF SD40-2's and SD45 that are headed for the weathering shop. Again great video.. Thank you for sharing, Joe S.
I love your Rock harbor Hopper and remember it's your railroad you can do it your way regardless of what the prototype is

Well thank you Sammy! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope you stop by to see the place in person if you ever find yourself on this side of the pond!
Thanks for this beautiful video, Allen. I love your prototypical narration. ...Roy

Beautiful and realistic scenes on your layout. The equipment has great weathering applied to them.
Thanks Gary! I think weathering is my favorite part of the hobby. I do love my filth!

That's cool. Do you have any pictures of when he worked for the Northwestern?
Great looking train
Thanks Bob!
I love your layout idea! I sure miss watching Northwestern trains!
Thank you! I sure miss their unique brand of filth.

Just found your channel! I’ve been catching up on your videos! Great stuff
Thanks Matthew! I'm glad you dig them. Keep up the good work yourself!
loving your weathering and the slight changes in grade, give more sense of realism
Thanks Wolfe! I'd have to say weathering is my favorite aspect of the hobby. And I feel like I'm just getting good at it.
Really enjoyed watching your video. Very impressive weathering and realistic. I am now a new subscriber. Thanks for sharing.....Wilmer

Thanks! I don't know how my N scale friends can see to do their weathering:)
Very good video! Your motive power and rolling stock look great! Subscribed. Looking forward to more.
Thanks! You're doing a great job yourself.

That sounds like a pretty fun what-if you got going there! Love the 45's!

Thanks Johnny! Keep up the good rail fanning.

where did you get your horse trailer I've been looking for one in HO scale for a while or is that scratch belt
The base is a Herpa model IIRC. The body is a 3D filament print. I know, there isn't anything like them on the market.
where did you get your horse trailer?
That was a 3D print with a wine bottle foil roof.
