I personally installed trailrax, onto which you can install a number of things - rotopax, waterport, axe and/or shovel mount, etc. No specific holes drilled into the hardtop (other than on the roof to mount the generic trailrax on the jku - jlu needs no drilling). Anyhow, nice save.

The irony brother… I was literally about 30 minutes ago considering a water port to tie into my hot water/heat exchanger system! 😆. I dig it for sure…. I like Scepter can because it’s ultra portable but I also have a carrier on my rear swingout to bring it with, without taking up too much space.
You made all the right decisions about the mounting brackets and locations, and there’s something to be said about the adrenaline rush you get when making permanent modifications, ya know? 🤷‍♂️. You know it’s true! Lol. Love it as always Asia. 🤙
Just thinking maybe you can make some kind of skid for narrow trails to put in front of the water port…. Just bend some 16gauge plate even or 3/16’s would be nice, and mount somehow.

Hey guys! Sooo I've been using the WP day tank for awhile now and it's been awesome! I ended up relocating it to the other side because it was creating a muddy mess at the foot of my RTT ladder but now that it's on the driver side, I can do my cooking and dishwashing underneath an awning. It's been awesome! My only regret is not getting the weekender as we have found ourselves needing more water during longer trips. Otherwise, the water port has been integral in our system!

Def don't want to use hitch adapter. I say this because we hit some trails sometimes and I need the better departure angle. I've seen people slam their waterport on rocks with it sitting that low and it busts open.
That being said, I've since moved this to the other side now and I was able to patch the original holes nicely with fiberglass. Can't even tell I made holes anymore

The issue I have with Waterports, especially mine. All it takes is something bouncing and knocking the spout off. You now just dumped 3.8 gal of water everywhere. Plus, is breaks the threads off the waterport iteself. So, now your epoxying on the spout to hopefully not have it leak.

    • @BaptismOverland

You mentioned that you'd have to pull out a compressor to pressurize the tank but why not have an onboard compressor like a ARB or a Vai-air system? I have the Vaiair system with the tank and it powers tools, airs up tires really quick

    • @BaptismOverland

Because I DID plan to get an on board for awhile but after thinking about it more, I will only be using it to pump this up along with other small things so I might as well just get a portable that I can switch between vehicles.
