Yes. The gist behind that story is to understand that he doesn't flaunt about all charitable things he does. There's a lot happening behind the scenes that not everyone knows. Not everything needed to be uploaded to social media.

And for something he didn't need to do. The joke wasn't even that horrible, and it wasn't at the POC who were dying, but the BLM people who want to force them to use their platforms in ways they don't want to. Sad to see this type of behavior, he makes a small joke about something that was out of context? They say he needs to apologize and he deserves the doxxng coming his way. He apologizes? I definitely accept his apology as a black person, the joke felt insensitive and tone deaf. Also he should’ve just ignored people asking him to use his platform if he didn’t want to talk about it. However, death threats are obviously disgusting and never justified of course.
The only thing I hate is that the comments here are filled with nonblack people dismissing the need for an apology in the first place and acting like people were wrong to be offended. Obviously it’s fine if you weren’t offended, but there are people who legitimately were which is also justified and it’s so rude to ignore that just bc you’re his fan. Again I respect the fact that he apologized, but I wish fans would stop being dismissive and I doubt he was ever going to be “cancelled” considering the size of his fan base anyway.

I'm glad that he acknowledged what he did and apologized for it but the thing that bothers me the most are the people in the clique telling others to get over it bc he did nothing wrong and that there's nothing to apologize for. No one gets to tell anyone how to feel about something, especially in this case where Tyler offended a lot of poc's. I don't agree with the whole cancel culture thing and I DEFINITELY do not agree with people sending threats to his family. i pushed this apology off for years. this group meant everything to me and i felt betrayed and confused and displaced, mostly by other fans. to feel a sense of control in a time where my ocd got worse, i cut them off and forced myself to move on. i hated a PART of myself for letting myself get hurt. i heard “the craving” on the radio and my mom convinced me to listen to Clancy. I cried through the entire thing. because i missed them, and i thought about the situation and how i felt shamed and judged anytime i'd miss them by my "friends" that i've now separated from, and i remember that this is the group that has never failed to understand me. i let my fear of getting hurt again stop me from understanding them in a confusing and overwhelming time. this apology was exactly what i needed to hear. i appreciate tyler's care and genuine approach to the conversation and i feel horrible that the hate got as far as death threats and doxxing. i'm happy to hear how much he cares for black lives and the black community, and i'm excited to enter back into the community knowing i support good, safe people who gave always meant well with the messages they've sent out to the world.

With all due respect, while I think the joke was untasteful, he already posted about BLM beforehand, and the joke wasn't about BLM, it was about presumably white people demanding he use his platform to speak up about BLM.
I think that's worth some criticism even if the joke didn't deal with it very well. (At least imo.) Think about it: a bunch of white people demanding a random celebrity to use their platform to speak up about something important. What a celebrity says doesn't matter, really. Instead these people could have been donating or doing something to make a difference.
But apparently people threatened his life, his family's, and that of his baby daughter over this.
This also happened a long time ago (months ago) and he already apologized on twitter when it happened, but anger and death threats continued, with people trying to cancel him. So he made this apology on top of that.
So, in a personal analysis of the joke, it wasn't about POC. It was about tons of white people demanding him to use his platform.

Very quick summary: He made a joke about "People are asking me to use my platforms so here they are" showing a picture of him wearing platform shoes. Based on his later tweets of the day, this was made as a "haha but actually I am going to really use my platform" (read Twitter account) "to do stuff." as he posted a thing on Mental health. While I and many others didn't find it offensive, a significant group did, thinking it dismissive of world events and the blm movement. Read into it as you will.

Like I mean, if anyone has seen interviews and stuff with this man (Tyler Joseph) you would know hes got a literal heart of gold and wouldnt mean to hurt anyone, but that's not considered.
