***** I just feel like it was blatant shoe-horning of a popular character from old titles they owned to make the game more popular. I liked Sw : tor but having Revan in the game just felt wrong. They should have left him in his own timeline with the mysterious ending we had for him in KOTOR 2. Maybe I'm just salty we never got a KOTOR 3.
Nicholas Clark I completely understand your feelings on that. I will say that the book 'Revan' which spoilers aside sets up swtor pretty well. And having him come back makes tons of sense. Since you are a fan of kotor I would highly recommend the book.
***** I have to say I really enjoyed Karpyshyn's Darth Bane novels a LOT. The Revan book disappointed me however because while it was fun to read, in the end it all boiled down to Bioware needing an author to find someway of forcing Revan out of KOTOR and into SWTOR.
my first and only game crush. i'm almost 30 now and have loved many women, but when I hear this theme I'm transported back to 12 y/o me. funny how deep silly things like that can linger in the heart
+Radical Alien No one is at the level of John Williams, IMO :D He is the absolute best. This particular piece is definitely reminiscent of some of his scores (Schindler's List comes to mind, for instance), and the whole game soundtrack is pretty good, but I'd take Star Wars scores by John Williams any time. There are good scores, like this one, and then there are genius virtuoso scores, like JW's.
I agree with you as far as the games industry goes. I think KOTOR scores are definitely up there at the top. But when film scores come into play, I have a little bit higher expectations for something I'd call legendary. As a devoted fan of JW, I might be a bit biased, but I can't think of any contemporary composers that are at the same level as him.
+b1odome I guess if you wouldn't know who made the tracks (which music was made by Williams and which not), you would be able to say that Bastila's theme is right up there. :P
No, I would see too much difference anyway. Most of what composers like John Williams or Ennio Morricone do is far better than this score. That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy this score or other scores by Jeremy Soule - I definitely do, however, I would never call something like this legendary. It's all totally subjective, of course. I don't think I could 'prove' that one music piece is better than the other. It comes down to personal preference.
I bought and play this game on my IPhone for the first time ever. The moment I first encountered Bastila I hated her. She was arrogant and self-centered and irritating to be around. But over the course of my adventure with her I became attached to her and grew more fond of her. When The Revan identity was revealed I was angry at Batsila because the person that was close to me was using me. But when she threw herself to protect me and Carth I was crushed and wished I didn't yell at her. Upon climbing the temple on Lehon I saw Bastila but with a red Lightsaber I knew then and there she was corrupted by Darth Malak. I wanted to redeem Bastial and ultimately on the Battle Of The Star Forge I pleaded my love for her and brought her back to the light. Damn BioWare I have to say you guys do a damn good job at writing good characters. Bastila was my first video game crush! I can't wait to play KOTOR 2!
KOTOR 2 is written by Obsidian, which is EVEN BETTER then Bioware! KOTOR2 blows away KOTOR1, even though KOTOR1 is amazing Here's a good quote, and i'm not going to spoil where it came from "In the end, she sacrificed herself to keep my secret, to prevent the Sith from knowing about that touch of the Force inside me. She wasted her life to save me. Me" Here's another good one "If you seek to aid everyone that suffers in the galaxy, you will only weaken yourself… and weaken them. It is the internal struggles, when fought and won on their own, that yield the strongest rewards. You stole that struggle from them, cheapened it. If you care for others, then dispense with pity and sacrifice and recognize the value in letting them fight their own battles. And when they triumph, they will be even stronger for the victory."
This theme makes me think of how they ruined Bastila in the SWTOR novel and MMO. She stayed behind like a griefing widow instead of searching for Revan, like she did in KOTOR 2.
KOTOR rebooted would be outstanding. With each planet being completely open world, and having tons of side quests to keep us distracted from the main story.
+brian sheehan Well the problem with too many sidequests is that the game takes ages to finish if people get sidetracked, but it'll take a while for that to happen.
REMAKE IS CONFIRMED BOYS LETS GO after nearly 2 decades of waiting for Disney to do something with this long lost masterpiece of a series, we got it I’ll be seein all y’all at Taris’ cantina, drinks are on me
Savior, conqueror, hero, villain. You are all things, Revan… and yet you are nothing. In the end, you belong to neither the light nor the darkness. You will forever stand alone
Bastila: "I love you too, with all my heart." Revan: "You aren't afraid to love anymore?" Bastila: "After this? No. Nothing could make me feel safer than to be loved by you."
Ach this song has such a sad vibe to it. I didn't notice it until I got to Lehon and went to the temple summit. I stood in the room and wondered why it was so sad, then I saw her. I accidentally clicked the wrong option during the second fight with Bastila... and I killed her :(
That sucks, man. A similar thing happened to me on my first run on the game. I had romanced Bastila but didn't have enough persuade to redeem her. So in the end, my Revan was forced to kill her... that very thought just makes me sad.
+HardcoreHammy Fortunately I was able to turn her to the light side at the end, I would have been heartbroken if I had had to kill her! Did you try going back to a saved game before the second fight and doing it again??
Funny thing; on my very first playthrough I managed to redeem Bastilla (as a female!) through sheer luck. But then my save file got corrupted and I had to figure it out again through trial and error. Good times.
The best PC game I've ever played. So addictive and awe inspiring. I was in love with the characters and the interactions. I was saddened that the second game had such a dry ending.... and the fact that there was no romantic based storylines... but the first one was really good. Here's hoping the third one will come soon. It should have similar elements to the first one. The second one was just a harder version then the first one, it's plot wasn't that good tbh... I also hope for a third instalment of starwars battlefront, that would make my day... all in all, an amazing gaming experience, star wars outdid themselves with this game. If you want a nostalgic, lose yourself into, gaming experience, play this game and the Fable series =3
Just finished playing blindly through this game, and after reading the comments I'm amazed at how well it holds up to this day. Bastila is now one of my favorite heroines in Star Wars. The dialogues with her are captivating (especially while romancing) and her development was so good. I really liked that, despite her signature ability being constantly remarked as overpower, she's still Jedi in training, and is rather weak in many aspects, something that they should have done with Rey to make her more human. Plus, like someone remarked, there's a serenity and sadness about her that makes my heart inch.
December 26, 2003 Not often do i recall the date i purchase a game. This game how ever was a constant part of my life for a good two or three years. Over 30+ complete games and it is still installed on my computer today. This song has such a strong nostalgia effect on me that i wish i could go back just once to that day. So that i might experience that first day or so that i played and beat this game. Yet i also feel melancholy when i listen to it. Mainly because i know that i'll never have that experience again.
Kotor 1 hands down had the best soundtrack out of all the Star Wars games and even some of the movies. It’s the first time we see a new period of the Star Wars universe. An amazing universe
This game is a masterpiece, just shows how simple character development and music like this can make a game so emotional and amazing without tremendous graphics. This is a game everyone should play at least once in their lifetime. I just want a kotor 3 :'(. Preferably before im in my 30's
Sakuragi Rokurouta I've watched up to half way of season 2, I want to watch the rest. But if they do it right they could really make an amazing live action KOTOR tv series.
I've just finished this game for the third time. I first got it in 2004 for the Xbox when I was just 9, and more recently re bought it on Steam, redid it in 2012 and then now. This game is genius, pure genius. The characters, the story, the music, and... that plot twist. This particular track is the best to me, because it plays at the beginning of the game, then near the end when there is ... that choice to make. This game is terribly sad, with a fragment of light and hope.
probably my favorite video game of all time, next to Goldeneye 007 on the N64... but idk why there hasn't been a slew of KOTOR sequels. The MMO doesn't count.
DonCorleone87 Basically, right? Lol I remember I was jacked for SWTOR, with all the shiny CG trailers they released, and whatnot, "This is going to be awesome!!" And then I played it.....It was fine for a couple weeks, but it got old really fast. I, yeah.....want KOTOR 3, lol.
DonCorleone87 well most of the stories are good enough. fun campaign, well maybe they need computer using like in kotor, just so there is more puzzle. but graphiks should be redone more realistic. make combat and leveling different from wow. Star Fighter is fun. well in my opinion it just needs more and mixed gameplay, redone graphics, full voiced conversations instead of that talk and than done, it makes it unrealistic. more main ship costumize. its ashame its turned out like this. well i really love the game, but yes it is not really its own game. it needed more of the badass bioware lucasarts combo. and not EA!!!!!!!!
NunuInc Man I wish Swtor was better. I cant believe I waster two years on that game! but yes Kotor 3 definitely. Do you have any idea how much they'd make? it would be great. Did you hear about Star Wars 1313? Well Disney cancelled that project.
Revan. I knew you’d come for me. Malak thought you might be afraid to enter the Temple again, but he doesn’t know you like I do. Not anymore, not since you’ve changed...
Woah... Haven't heard this in forever. So relaxing, full of emotions and power... for me, this is hands down the best track of them all. Gonna go and play this game again.
“Even in the halls where the Sith Lords gather, young Bastila is whispered to be a Jedi of note. Who knows the terrible cost of such dark praise?” KOTOR was one of the first RPGs I ever played. To this day, it remains my favorite game of all time. Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Skyrim, The Witcher... all fantastic games. But KOTOR is something else beyond them. Whenever I feel disappointed in Star Wars, this game is my happy place.
This is the same exact thing for me.. I played games when I was younger but KOTOR was my first RPG and i played it so much… it became my favorite game of all time and has never been topped for me
Man I love this game. This track in particular I can immerse myself in and imagine looking out of the window in the Taris safe house. It's calming yet it also feels like something is missing or a longing of some kind.
Theme song of my childhood. This song bellowed through my head at all times, especially during school, when I would daydream. I remember being stuck on Taris for weeks, because I was barely old enough to understand where to go, and what to do in such a compelling and interactive world.
I just finished this game on iPad. It was amazing it has become my favorite game, I wish I had played it when I was a little kid I would have so much nostalgia from playing it again. And did anyone else love bastila and her character, cause I liked Bastila so much my entire mission was to get her back from Malay after the whole Evans identity thing
+Lordsknight I was in love with bastilla back then xD I love the romance options and on my first run I was always really serious with her so I only confessed to love her the star forge :) Amazing...
This music tells a story. It releases the feelings and emotions of the characters PERFECTLY. It shows you the longing feeling of hope that Bastila has for the future. Amazing game. Come on KOtOR 3!!
"I love you too with all my heart" "You aren't afraid to love me anymore?" "After this? No, nothing will ever make me feel safer than to be loved by you"
Theory: Rey IS Bastila and she was like Han, frozen in carbonite, but for a long time, she was on the unknown regions of the galaxy looking for her husband, Revan... she was captured and her mind was destroyed, like Revan, then she was frozen in carbonite, when she wakes up, she Reborns, in the desert of Jakku, that was the planet she were, and all that memories she got, werent from her as a kid, were from her when she was Bastila and Revan was going to the unknown regions, alone, she wasnt a kid and it wasnt unkar plut, it was carth... and Kylo... Kylo is Revan Reborn...
If Rey was actually resembling Bastilla while Kylo did for Revan, the sequel trilogy would already much better. I am against Reylo in general + the thing is both characters were not considered that OP in KOTOR, and they have character arcs, development whereas Kylo and Rey don't.
@@tlfearofthedarkhun387 Reylo is completely terrible. I was always a fan of Finn and Rey getting together anyway seemed like that's what JJ was going for. Shame it (and the sequel trilogy) was ruined
Not a huge SW fan here - in fact all i've ever known about SW is just basically through watching 6 episodes; but this game - it was so awesome and addictive when it was re-released on iPad last year, i was so into the game and played it addictively although last summer was when i was supposed to study so hard for college , glad i got into college though :P. Definitely one of the best games that i've ever played on all platforms. Not so surprised that Jeremy Soule was the conductor, i knew it because a few soundtracks of Skyrim bear a strong resemblance to this one.
Gosh when I saw Bastilla at the top of the temple as this played I couldnt believe what Malak had done to her... espscially since I poured hours into strengthening my bond with her. Love this game
i remember my first time playing kotor on the original xbox and when I found out I was Revan I was so shocked and then it all made sense. Such a beautiful game.
BioWare it's not too late to make KOTOR lll, Universal already delivered the long awaited Jurassic Park sequel Jurassic World and now it's your turn!!!
They can still do KOTOR 3 and treat TOR as non-canonical, like how Superman Returns ignores Superman 3 and 4. Or how Neil Blonkampf's upcoming Alien movie will be a sequel to Aliens cutting out Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. I would definitely welcome a proper KOTOR 3 instead of the mess that was TOR
That's funny, I always thought of this as a peaceful theme, as the party at rest between battles. Brings out the most memories of Akhto City on Manaan, even though I'm not sure it even plays there in any context. I never thought of it as Bastila's Theme.
My favorite part about this song is that Jeremy Soule snuck it into Skyrim. I'm glad he hasn't forgotten his old master pieces.
where is it in skyrim
58 seconds into Distant Horizons.
I thought it sounded familiar when I was listening to that track.

PainfulEndurance sounds like someone needs to play kotor.... :D
PainfulEndurance I'm not going to spoil it for you. Play through yourself, and you'll know what I mean ;)
This sounds so melancholy, almost as if the music conveys some kind of longing, and yet very elegant and beautiful.
Like Bastila herself.
Гениально
You described bastillas character arc bruh your making me nostalgic stop!! 😭
“You’re always there for me... even when I push you away... You’re like no man I’ve ever known...”
- Bastila Shan
Funny how it works. Brainwashed him to be a man he’ll act like one. If they brainwashed him to be a Jedi he’d act like one.
Ah yes I remember those words
Like it was yesterday 😏
They say the Force can do powerful things to a mind. to can wipe away your memories and destroy your very identity
what greater weapon is there than to turn an enemy to your cause? to use its own knowledge against them
Foreshadowing
The Jedi do not believe in killing their prisioners
No One deserves execution, no matter what their crimes
The Council would not normally except an adult for training... but this is a *special case...*
The dark side is alluring. I fear this quest to find the Star Forge may lead you down an all too familiar path.

Then you must resist temptation and drive her back to the light. That is what continuity would have wanted
I can't believe this game is ten years old, and I still play it.
Same here, my first RPG which got me into gaming
I was 5 when I got it in 2006. There was so much dialogue, it actually taught me how to read. And people say video games rot your brain.
Jacob K Ikr, I was like 7 when I got it, ever since then Ive played it about 12 times all the way through.

I understood both references and love them.
this song was perfect for that scene with bastilla at the temple
Taris was always such a comforting place for me, don't know why :)
And then Malak
Taris is clearly a metaphor for the good ol' USA, a place in decay, where the gap between rich and poor has widened and the poor are struggling, there is lots of crime and not enough healthcare, etc. Keep in mind that the designers were Canadian and that's probably how they regard the US. The Exile A metaphor for America in your opinion. That’s the great thing about subtext it isn’t always intentional.
@@theexile6605 You can draw parallels, but there's no confirmation at all that it's "clearly" a metaphor for the USA purposefully by the devs.
my first video game crush did you see her at the box art. wow her beauty blew me away. awesome pairing bastila and revan perfect match. also i always wished he stayed instead of leaving to the unkniwn regions at the end.

T. Martin Video Seriously?
Me too, decade ago lol
LOL! I'v played it so many times I laugh. To think bastilla would turn to the dark side more of a surprise then us turning out to be reven.
Me too. I had my moments of sadness and anger in SWTOR's imperial agent story. But when I played this.
Anyone notice how Bastila on the cover looks nothing like Bastila in the game, but Bastila on the cover is like a dead ringer for Satele in SWTOR, her descendant ?

I cant get over how disney said that this time era is non canon, story had to much potential to be canon.
Sacrance non canon to their already disfigured version of SW continuity. KOTOR lives on in the true Star Wars universe along with other Legends.
They said its not canon? WTF this story is a masterpiece. Better than anything they could ever do.

"For me"
Bastila theme is legendary
KOTOR2 blows away KOTOR1, even though KOTOR1 is amazing
Here's a good quote, and i'm not going to spoil where it came from
"In the end, she sacrificed herself to keep my secret, to prevent the Sith
from knowing about that touch of the Force inside me. She wasted her
life to save me. Me"
Here's another good one
"If you seek to aid everyone that suffers in the galaxy, you will only
weaken yourself… and weaken them. It is the internal struggles, when
fought and won on their own, that yield the strongest rewards. You stole
that struggle from them, cheapened it. If you care for others, then
dispense with pity and sacrifice and recognize the value in letting them
fight their own battles. And when they triumph, they will be even
stronger for the victory."
+falongrey4 I don't think you understand. People WANT to get sidetracked in the Star Wars universe. Some of us want to live there.
falongrey4 Skyrim has hundreds of missions... and with the technology of today, that would be very "easy''
I really wish that I could be like Revan. My memory wiped so that I could play this game again for the first time...
REMAKE IS CONFIRMED BOYS LETS GO
after nearly 2 decades of waiting for Disney to do something with this long lost masterpiece of a series, we got it
I’ll be seein all y’all at Taris’ cantina, drinks are on me
LETS GOOOO
Not for too long though...
Savior, conqueror, hero, villain. You are all things, Revan… and yet you are nothing. In the end, you belong to neither the light nor the darkness. You will forever stand alone
If there's multiplayer, all of us in these replies have to meet up 💯
I've got a bad feeling about this
Bastila: "I love you too, with all my heart."
Revan: "You aren't afraid to love anymore?"
Bastila: "After this?
So in the end, my Revan was forced to kill her... that very thought just makes me sad.
it's sad just like bastila's own story
Well,i kinda feel it too,dude.
It's like she was "dead".
Fortunately she wasn't.
My Revan turned DS because he didn't want to lose her.
Good times.
This song makes me sad and makes me wanna play the game
kotor 1 was about finding your identity and kotor 2 was about the force
I like to think about kotor 1 being about what you did to the galaxy and kotor 2 being about what the galaxy did to you.
i want a star wars game, deep as KOTOR but with Fallen Order or Jedi Academy Gameplay
That would be a dream come true, certainly! Have a pleasant Week!
In my opinion, this is far and away the best iteration of 'The Force' theme.

My favorite Music track in Kortor
Tim T Kortor... Kortor... Kortor....
KORTOR
DarthRevanWoad how did that r get there sorry KOTOR
You sucksw
Kortor? One Lightsaber to rule them all, One Lightsaber to find them, One Lightsaber to bring them all and in the darkness bind them!
December 26, 2003
Not often do i recall the date i purchase a game.
Same
+jinto1980 When I heard this theme it brought KoTOR and the OT together.
One of the greatest video games ever made.
Disney should just make a trilogy based on these games, and use this music
more like make a tv series of it. instead of rebels make KOTOR.
Sakuragi Rokurouta I've watched up to half way of season 2, I want to watch the rest. But if they do it right they could really make an amazing live action KOTOR tv series.
Sakuragi Rokurouta I can totally see Christian Bale as Revan
Hell no! Disney would butcher the story by making Revan a lesbian
@@jimhuffman9434 Well, theoretically, if a lesbian played the game then Revan would be a lesbian. But yes, I see your point.
Im not being sarcastic but well said thats true
I havent finished the game
Why is it sad? It can be a glorious example of hope if you choose those decisions.
Robby Sohal
Sad as in "dark", I mean. And it's the combination of darkness and hope that makes it so moving to me.
Anyone else think it's weird that a selkath us in the foreground of the cover when there is no selkath companion
probably my favorite video game of all time, next to Goldeneye 007 on the N64... but idk why there hasn't been a slew of KOTOR sequels. The MMO doesn't count.
Bioware pulled the bullshit "SWTOR is Kotor 3,4,5,6 etc." card, which angers me cause the MMO is nowhere near the quality of the 2 RPGs.
exactly. I even tried to get into SWTOR and I couldn't. I wish they would just scrap it and restart to make a KOTOR 3 haha
Gonna go and play this game again.
tom hardy as malak and christian bale as revan. best star wars movie
But Revan could be male or female.
in the old republic mmo he is a guy with long hair and exile was a dead female
Tim Williams Revan is canonically male without that shitty MMO.
true bro. they should have just made a trilogy.
+Tim Williams HECK YEAH!!!!!! FLIPPING SWEET!
such a well written wholesome romance this was
I always found this song so moving - so sad, yet so hopeful too....kinda like Bastila.
“Even in the halls where the Sith Lords gather, young Bastila is whispered to be a Jedi of note. Who knows the terrible cost of such dark praise?”
KOTOR was one of the first RPGs I ever played.
TheWarriorPriest exactly
This is one of the best Star Wars songs made especially when you hear it in game.
+Lordsknight I was in love with bastilla back then xD I love the romance options and on my first run I was always really serious with her so I only confessed to love her the star forge :)
Amazing...
Same, and nice picture xD
I was never into Bastila romantically.
Emotional. This bring back so many feels. What a great character and this soundtrack fits her journey well.
Seeing her in the distance at the temple top is a moment that's oddly stuck with me.
I want a remaster of this game :) Bioware should do it for KoTOR 3 hype!!!
never knew the music that plays when you wake up in the abandoned aparment was Bastila's theme. god i've always loved this one
soo relaxing i forget this theme.. THANKS!! I WANT KOTOR 3!!
Franco Kees be sure it will crap. Thanks nova days
This should be the trailer music for Kotor 3 or any remakes.
this game is beautiful, def in my top 10 games of ALL TIME!!!!!!!!
THIS is star wars, Not this bullshit that Disney, EA, and Marvel are shitting out.
Man this song brings the feelings back. The Revan-Bastila romance was great.
My god, the memories. This takes me back to when I was just 6-7 years old.
This music tells a story. It releases the feelings and emotions of the characters PERFECTLY. It shows you the longing feeling of hope that Bastila has for the future. Amazing game. Come on KOtOR 3!!
After listening to these soundtracks i think im gonna bring out the old xbox and play it this weekend :)
You can play them both on the Xbox one now :)
I never would of thought that 10+ years later these games would invoke such a powerful nostalgic feeling.
Gg boys
Damn it rlly has been 13 years
I was less than 3 years old and this was one of the first games I ever played
Too long man…time flys
"I love you too with all my heart"
"You aren't afraid to love me anymore?"
"After this? No, nothing will ever make me feel safer than to be loved by you"
KOTOR Star Wars is better than movie Star Wars. All of them.
i love how this piece borrows one of the main themes from the movies, yet makes it really original
Now that I think of it, Rey DOES remind me of Bastila... I had something of a vision...
they might actually have pulled that image from this game tbh
Shame it (and the sequel trilogy) was ruined
i love this game, this theme and Bastila
Such a mournful and beautiful piece of music, KOTOR and KOTOR 2 are my favorites
Great music it really goes beyond words
Not a huge SW fan here - in fact all i've ever known about SW is just basically through watching 6 episodes; but this game - it was so awesome and addictive when it was re-released on iPad last year, i was so into the game and played it addictively although last summer was when i was supposed to study so hard for college , glad i got into college though :P. Definitely one of the best games that i've ever played on all platforms.
Not so surprised that Jeremy Soule was the conductor, i knew it because a few soundtracks of Skyrim bear a strong resemblance to this one.
All Elder Scrolls music sound close. Except Arena, I think.
Gosh when I saw Bastilla at the top of the temple as this played I couldnt believe what Malak had done to her... espscially since I poured hours into strengthening my bond with her. Love this game
So beautiful, this game had it all man.
That scene on the top of the temple was better than anything Disney produced
This song is nothing but a siren-call to play kotor again.
That moment this plays on the roof of the temple
You listen to the music and meet the fallen Bastilla.
So many emotions.
This theme is definitely my favorite. And it fits Bastila so unbelievably well.
I remember playing this game 3 years ago and it's better then most games today...
It's like seeing an old friend
i remember my first time playing kotor on the original xbox and when I found out I was Revan I was so shocked and then it all made sense. Such a beautiful game.
BioWare it's not too late to make KOTOR lll, Universal already delivered the long awaited Jurassic Park sequel Jurassic World and now it's your turn!!!
***** You mean TOR?... Good, it came and crapped on all the characters that were built in in KOTOR I & II
+Isaac Cano Yes it is, AAA games are plagued by microtransactions and unworthy DLC. I don't want my favourite game series tarnished tbh.
Revan: I love you, Bastila.
Bastila: Okay, you've made your point.
I remember thinking that the Taris hideout would be permanent…
Now that they’re finally remaking it - I hope Jeremy Soule is still composer and this song still be in it.
"The Force fights with me!"
This always gives me goosebumps
The original Dyad in the Force ❤
That's funny, I always thought of this as a peaceful theme, as the party at rest between battles. Brings out the most memories of Akhto City on Manaan, even though I'm not sure it even plays there in any context. I never thought of it as Bastila's Theme.
The Dark Lord Revan is dead. I am a servant of the light now
