My own interpretation: The lady misses death by a whisker. In shock and realising that life can be really short and unpredictable; she rushes home to her husband to explain her encounter with her “near-death” encounter. Spontaneously, Nyaradzo (the white haired, warm old man), a wise and reliable helper senses the anguish and appears there and there as he is always available to comfort. They respectfully and professionally exchange greetings showing that they always had a good relationship. Upon realising that the husband was well organised, and had already planned of their departure from this world, the woman was left charmed and chaffed as she is rest assured that her children will be left in good hands.
This piece doesn’t only talk to Nyaradzo’s funeral programme but also life assurance and insurance.
This is a masterpiece!
