Academy Award® nominee Bruce Dern (Nebraska), Stephen Lang (Avatar franchise), and Shane West (“Gotham”) highlight this stylish, intense horror-thriller. Looking for a change one weekend, ER doctor Alice and her husband, Tom, rent a glamorous mid-century modern home designed by architect Frederick Banner. As they investigate the home, they learn that Banner and his two wives died mysteriously-yet their spirits are very much alive. As they meet Banner’s deranged son, they realize they must escape the home or succumb to its madness.

I just watched because Dern was in the movie. Disappointed he had such a very small part. The movie was mediocre at best and it would have been ok to miss it. Didn’t know the any other actors, plot was a mixture of several other horror and terror films with feminist overtones which is tiring. Dern deserves better but we all deserve better films. I’ll still check out each one he’s in, one of my favorites since the 70s.
This looks pretty generic but with a good cast. Looks good visually, too, may give it a watch 👍

Looks better than most trailers put out by Lionsgate, still not convinced if it would be good though, just reminds me of The Rental but with extra steps.

Too bad they don't write like Rod Serling et al anymore. You didn't even NEED a plausible episode to go along with him.
We all knew Burgess Meredith would have been dead 4 seconds after leaving the vault, certainly not long after eating the food. But it didn't matter. The script was great.

This starts off good, a story slowly, very very slowly starts to emerge leading to some mystery, up until it takes a turn into the final act about a ritual and spirits which was amateurish but wasn't that bad.
However, it's like watching two different movies merged together, where one leads to a plot, the other, a blackhole. The movie is ruined by shoehorned random cringey sexism scenes that feel exaggerated that add nothing to the movie and lead to nowhere.
I agree the first half is better than the second; but I disagree about the ‘shoehorned random cringey sexism scenes.’
On the contrary I think the film’s juxtaposing our modern attitudes toward mid century architecture (we rightfully love it) with the misogynistic social climate of the actual 50’s is where this movie *shines.*
Haven't seen it yet, but women weren't allowed to have bank accounts, credit cards or property back then.

She also had her own credit card and made sure I had a checking and savings account as well as credit card by the time I was 18. We were middle class and she wanted me to be able to depend on myself and never a man. Don’t believe feminism lies.

I don't know how the hell this got so many thumbs up and great comments because I can't wait for this movie to finish it's that stupid. Trying to understand it, boring thank God it's almost over. I was very very skeptical when I seen it was by Lionsgate. Lionsgate sucks anymore. I'll give it a 4 out of 10

Dont waste your time, it's visually appealing and has Bruce Dern, but is a wokester's ball filled with unnecessary plugs of white guilt and me2 BS.
So, you lured me in with an interesting, evil, charismatic character and proceeded to barely put him in the film? Ooook. Oh and all the other characters are insufferable, and unlikeable. Yes, it was pretty, but I still want my money and time back.

No he's not granted he's been in some not so great movies lately but he's a good actor
