SCT. BENDT’S CHURCH - HANDHELD CINEMATIC SMARTPHONE FOOTAGE
A couple of days ago I went out at noon to shoot a handheld cinematic smartphone footage of Sct. Bendt’s Church, an almost 900-year-old church located in Ringsted, Denmark. It’s the oldest brick church in Scandinavia, and is dated back in 1140 AD. It was a bright sunny day with a clear blue sky and when I was back home to edit my footage, I realized that I’d been shooting at the wrong time of the day. There was simply too much sunlight to get that exact cinematic feeling I was looking for.
This morning I got up at 4 a.m. in order to do a new recording of the church in the golden hour. The golden hour today on May 6th, 2020, was from 4:50 to 6:11 a.m. and I must say it made a huge difference of the whole scenery. I recorded from 5.20 until 6.13 a.m., and you can easily see how the light is changing simultaneously when the sun rises. By purpose I haven’t adjusted colours neither have I used any filters, when I edited the video.
This handheld footage is shot in full HD 1920x1080 60 fps.
