To explain why people would think that hair grows because of rice water. Rice water properties keep the hair in anagen phase for longer. The anagen phase is the growth phase hence your hair grows a bit longer. And also rice water is meant to be washed off. The reason why people have bad experiences with Rice water is that they leave it in. If you leave it, it can cause Breakage. You must use it on wash day. So you use it, leave it on for about 1 hour then rinse it off. A hair specialist and nutritionist Debbie Williams speaks more about this on her RUclips channel 🙂
Hey guys, I just thought to add my own experience with rice water here! I have 4c hair and there’s no doubt about it☺️ I recently started to grow out my hair as I was rocking a low cut for a year and a half and I started using rice water just to see how it would work on my hair. I spray rice water on my hair every day, morning and night and I don’t wash it out. It’s been 18 days now and I’ve washed my hair about 3-4 times in total. And I tell you!!! My hair has never been softer, my curls are always moisturized and they’re bouncy and so healthy. And dare I say defined? I’m just able to feel my coils and it’s never happened before. I’ve only started to learn how to take care of my hair (I had relaxed hair most of my life) and now that I’ve incorporated rice water into my hair, it is healthy 😌 and my hair was never really that healthy before. I can’t help but love my 4c hair now that I have found something that’s also natural 🎉 🎉🎉 and cheap and it actually works!! I also now have edges 🥳🥳🥳 Praise the Lord!!!! (Jesus is King)
I just started trying it n didnt store it in the frigde n sprayed it on my hair since sunday should I wash my hair cause I smelled a different smell today
Gugulethu Mjwara Normally I put peppermint essential oil in it to mask the scent so I’m not too sure how it smells at different stages but if you’re worried about it, I would just say to wash it out just in case! Bless you sister
I was thinking of trying it then I thought "I haven't seen it on a South African page yet" 😂😂 so this is the confirmation I needed that it's safe, thanks❤️
I have had great results with rice water. My hair had actually fell out, and I wore wigs for months. Started using white rice water and noticed that my edges and sparse sections started getting new hairs. Switched to BLACK RICE and saw exponential growth and decrease in shedding! My hydration and curl definition improved. Make sure to deep condition at least once a week.
Noxolo Sakang : I left mine in until next wash day. I washed every 5 days. Put a few drops of rosemary and peppermint essential oil to get rid of smell. Black rice water doesn’t smell that bad to begin with.
Don’t use lemon peels because lemon is too strong, they say it might change your hair color. You can use grapefruit peels or Orange peels instead. I add some lavender oil just to be extra with the smell 🤭😊😊.
Fatu Daniel You’re actually right! I used oranges for mine and everyone notices my hair is browner. Someone even asked if it was dyed, it maybe genetics though because my brother has natural dreads and the tips of his hair is brown like a natural gradient! God bless ⭐️
@@nnzulu7684 I use it on wash day. Spritz it on my scalp and massage for a couple of minutes, if I have time I put it under a plastic bag. I wash my hair every couple of weeks since I have locs.
Been using it for about 3 weeks now. It's magical😍👏. My hair breaks less and the elasticity is insane😩. I have bad hair naturally, but now my hair is so healthy.
Rice water really makes my hair feel soft! I had braids for about a month, I made rice water (with orange peels) and would spray it every/most nights and when I took my braids out it was only slightly longer but it felt extremely healthy! I definitely recommend using it.
I'm on my first week of rice water challenge. I'm excited about the results because I can already see a difference in my hair texture and how my curls are more defined and coiled up 🥺❤️ and yes there's less breakage too! I'm staying on this 🤞🏽
Thank you cc, for this video. I have tried the rice water thing before but I think I was doing it wrong. I was using the water from boiled rice. And I googled it, gave a difference info than yours as a result I stopped using after few times. Now I am going back to it. Thank you cc. I shall forever be grateful for your videos, they are an answer to my prayers, my hair improved so much. I am grateful for your work cc. 💜💖
Use it consistently on my 2 years old daughter, I never have enough energy to be consistent with mine even though I see how much it is the Lord's work😢😢
I started using rice water for the hype but my edges shocked me last week!!! They had grown and i wondered what product it was until i remembered that i was using rice water!! Love love love!!!❤️❤️
I would interchangeably rinse it out and leave it in. Like i would just rinse my hair with it like on monday and proceed with my Loc method then rinse it out on thursday. Leave my hair for like two days then rinse again with it like on sunday...then some days I’d leave it in for like one hour then rinse it out. I find that i got the best results when i gave my hair a rest in between. But like Sino says, rice water goes hand in hand with moisture treatments. Its like a car and keys, u cant drive the car without the keys. Otw it will just damage ur hair like it had mine initially before i figured out how to work with it
You hair is goals Sino🔥🔥💘Rice is really God sent my hair was brittle, weak rice water saved my life reduces shedding like 90% I was using rice water when I had braids when I took them off I was surprised literally no shedding

Garnier Ultimate Blends has a Rice cream and oat milk brand of shampoo and conditioners. I have not used it myself as I can't find it in the pharmacies near me. However I have heard of people who use it as a Rice water containing product without the smell
Low Por hair here too and I am at 3 weeks using it just once a week on wash days. Breakage has stopped almost 90%, my hair looks and feels healthy it's crazy - I did have the crunchiness but I have up-ed the moisture treatments! Not too sure if I will use it after next week either cause girl my washdays are long and now having added a treatment day is like wow. Thank you so much for this info. I will try it in July but I must say the afrobotanics deep conditioner and trimming my ends has helped me with knots and shedding. And thanks to you Sino for sharing the info.🌼
So I was locked natural for over ten years and a year I cut my dreadlocks and i have been a loose natural for a full year and 6 months and I stand by rice water as part of my hair treatment using it since day one and the results I have gotten have been small and incremental every single month and I see this because I wear protective styling A LOT so I am always in braids and after every braided period my length check is longer than the previous month. Also to avoid any dry and chrunchy hair I recommend white or jasmine rice over brown rice (Which I found to be too drying to my 4c hair) in addition to using rice water as part of my hair treatment during my wash days I use it as a daily spritz just add a bit of leave-in conditioner/ moisturizing creme and hair oil in with the rice water and that helps keep your moisturized and happy.
Thank you so much for the information Sino. I did try it out and i made some mistakes by using the rice water daily then I stopped. But after watching this and being more informed I'm definitely going to try it again. You are heaven sent... Keep up the good content we learn a lot from you and we appreciate you ❤️🙏
Thanks for this Sino! When I tried it, I got turned off by the crunchiness and then stopped. Now that I know that can be combatted by moisture treatments, I'll definitely try it again.
GUYS if anyone who is protein sensitive, please do not use rice water too often. If after you do the rice water treatment your hair feels hard and just breaking off, that means you maybe sensitive to protein so give your hair a break in any other protein hair products until you recover. Rice water is not bad but remember it is a protein treatment, so do not do this every day maybe once a week or once every 2 weeks should be fine.
For the longest time I thought I had low porosity hair and I still tried it but it made my hair so dry, and I wasn't properly informed about it yet so I would seal it with coconut oil ontop and nothing else💔 My hair was extremely dry and I stopped using it. A year later I found out that I have high porosity hair and I was excited to try it again. I won't lie and say I have seen major results in terms of growth but my hair is much thicker than it was and my curls are pooopppping! I will continue using it. I use it as a leave-in not a spritz.

I did the Rice water cause my hair was breaking a lot and i must say 2 weeks later the rice water has worked for me...My hair breaks less now, retaining moisture and more softer and manageable than before....The constant and increased moisturizing is very important otherwise the hair will break even further...
I heard it works. Although im not interested in trying it (Jamaican castor oil is enough for me and it works), my friend uses rice water and she says that it is amazing for her hair. It grows hair especially course 4c hair. Someone should make a brand selling rice water if there isn't any yet.
I’m definitely going to try this out on my hair and see if I get the same or different results on my hair. Might post it on my channel if it goes well because if my hair falls off 😂😂😂😂 I’m done with.
Lol been wondering why mine doesn't smell, I fermented for 24hours🤣 I haven't seen anything different but I applied once only ke. Will see after two weeks, plus my hair is currently in braids.
It's the 3rd week of me using the rice water n I must say moisture is retained that when I wake up it doesn't look dry n secondly my hair color is popping more with that nice natural shine🤭🤗
I've been using rice water as a spritz/I just spray in the evening and put some oil and conditioner( LOC) then go to sleep. I swear my edges have grown longer now and my hair too. I use orange peels because on its own rice water smells bad. On washday, i don't use it, i just do the normal deep conditioning routine then use rice water 3 days after washday, thats when the moisture in my would have dried out. I haven't had any breakage, actually my hair shedding has reduced, its stronger and longer now. You can also try to put some oil in the rice water e.g castor oil. So that on days when you are too busy to do the LOC method, you can just spray rice water on your hair and head out. P. S check out my Instagram page @niabellla.
Thank you for you advice. Do you currently have a wash n go in the video ? If so do you mind sharing the routine you did to get and maintain this style ?
I tried rice water last year and it almost hurt my hair & now I understand its cause I didn't do the moisture treatment. Thanks for doing the experiment for us
@Sinovuyo, i just have a quick question, when do you make a new mason jar of rice water? Or do keep the rice water in the fridge to stop the fermentation process? Or do you make enough for a few days then make a new batch every few days? I have been using the same batch I made since I started about 2 weeks ago and yesterday my hair started falling off which it has never done. I've been using the LOC very religiously. Please help. I just washed everything off.
Hi Sino. Would you recommend rice water for braid care? I know in you other video you recommended water with leave-in conditioner but would rice water be an alternative?
I did see that my hair was breaking lesser than usual after using rice water. I have a question here, products last longer on my hair I see that when hydrating with water. Is going to be fine if I do the loc method 3 times a week?
To explain why people would think that hair grows because of rice water. Rice water properties keep the hair in anagen phase for longer. The anagen phase is the growth phase hence your hair grows a bit longer.

Lol been wondering why mine doesn't smell, I fermented for 24hours🤣 I haven't seen anything different but I applied once only ke. Will see after two weeks, plus my hair is currently in braids.
Leave if for another 24 - 48 hours.
It's the 3rd week of me using the rice water n I must say moisture is retained that when I wake up it doesn't look dry n secondly my hair color is popping more with that nice natural shine🤭🤗
I’m going to try it my dear, I have cut my hair because I developed patches on my hair
I'll definitely try this!! Thank you for the feedback!❤❤
What a gorgeous afro! Definitly going to try this.
I’ve been waiting patiently ❤️❤️❤️
Also adding oil to your rice water will stop your hair from drying out
I just started using it because of my hairline....i honestly can not wait to see the difference
Natural hair guru, my inspiration❤❤❤ i enjoy your video's and i learn so much😍😍😍

Thank you Sino. Im definitely gonna try it out 🙌
Rice water is the best thing 😍😍😍👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks for the update. I can't wait to try it
When you say moisture treatment, do you mean deep conditioning?? Also did you say you do it every 3 days??
Lesly Makwavarara yes when using rice water almost daily.
Aah I see, I use rice water as a pre-poo once every 2 weeks. Thanks xx
Thank you for you advice. Do you currently have a wash n go in the video ? If so do you mind sharing the routine you did to get and maintain this style ?
I have been binge watching your videos ❤️❤️
Definitely going to try rice water 🤞🏽🤗
Yasss, been waiting for this video.
I have low porosity hair I'll definitely try this out and definitely use moisture treatments.
Hi Sino when you talk about moisture treatment are you referring to the LOC method?
I tried rice water last year and it almost hurt my hair & now I understand its cause I didn't do the moisture treatment.
Thanks for doing the experiment for us
@Sinovuyo, i just have a quick question, when do you make a new mason jar of rice water? Or do keep the rice water in the fridge to stop the fermentation process? Or do you make enough for a few days then make a new batch every few days? I have been using the same batch I made since I started about 2 weeks ago and yesterday my hair started falling off which it has never done. I've been using the LOC very religiously. Please help. I just washed everything off.
I just took out my braids, I will start using rice water for also 4 weeks and I will hit you up and let you know how it worked out..
I'll be giving this a try this week (fermenting the rice as we speak) @sinovuyomondliwa thank you for your insight as always
rice water literally saved my life dude, it has been about 2 months
Hi Sino. Would you recommend rice water for braid care? I know in you other video you recommended water with leave-in conditioner but would rice water be an alternative?
Yeyi, rice water is my friend...
Beautiful hair by the way
I did see that my hair was breaking lesser than usual after using rice water.
I have a question here, products last longer on my hair I see that when hydrating with water. Is going to be fine if I do the loc method 3 times a week?
thank you Sino this is helpful.
i was wondering if i could use rice water in low maintenance hairstyles just to avoid hair loss and shedding
Try use orange peel, not lemon. Lemon strips your hair the same way it strips your skin, in skin lightening creams
Great tip. Thank you for this video. Also, what is the name of the artist and song? 🙈🙈🙈.
I wanted to ask the same question, beautiful music
