I have always been told there's no such thing as a lying drunk. In the FL's case it's true. She feels like she's waiting for the other shoe to drop. She's waiting for him to leave her. He loves/cares for her but she needs a sense of permanent security. Communication is the key to that. Even if you're not in the same city or state, talking is the next best thing. You should never be too busy that you can't communicate. Regret is awful.

Communication is not necessarily their strong point. She doesn't want to be saved. She wants a partner, not a hero. He's learning the hard way. He's a sweet ML with his heart in the right place, but his ears and his brain are somewhere in left field. He still also has that other girl in his heart not to love but to always rescue her. She's conditioned him that way. Some people just need to be dropped to the floor to learn to pick themselves up. She never learned that lesson like the FL.
