I saw MTB in 2014 at the local fair in Merced, CA. The current musicians were excellent, the sound was basically the same, but Bless his heart, Doug's voice was gone. He sang a few songs, then turned it over to the new lead singer. He admitted his voice wasn't what it used to be. They put on a great concert, and I am so glad that I was able to talk to Doug afterward.
Thank you! A really great song already, but to see them live (which I've never done) is a tremendous treat! Thank you Thank you Thank you etc.......A++++
Love this .....truly blessed to have such amazing music and musicians in my life ....and doug ...you still having it going on ....paul stil amazing as ever on the drums....we have a mutal friend and last name ...lol...love these memories...and David ACE Allen ....always a special person to me ....had his order in at the local WH when he pulled in....never talked until he laid his newspaper down lol.. Then i would talk his ears off...lol..great men in my life with music
Outstanding. Love singing this ! Can relate. Always loved Southern Rock and Rock since 1971. Always enjoyed MTB. Its been awhile but I know where to play ther songs now. Thanks, Steve
I remember playing this tune in a band I was in back in the '90's and trying to copy Rusty Milner's lead ....... He was a Tasty Player for sure and a Fine Representative of Toy Caldwell's Music...
This was a home video done in the early 90’s called Then & Now. It was to showcase the past and present of the band, showing the new harder hitting line up. It was the bands “try to cross over” to a more “Country” type band. This was on the heel of the “walking outside the lines” and the “Still Smoking” CD’s
Todd....is there another video of this particular recording? We would like to see it in a more clearer presentation, not like this one...I would think that who ever recorded this video live would have the original version before it was edited into this type of "scene style".
My personal favorite, and as best seen @ a live performance,, what a jammin song , why in the world MTB, isn't in the Rock n Roll hall of fame is freaking unbelievable , thats really whacked, 🤔😞
I still do this tune in fact I got an ovation at the Super Market this morning. I was belting it out right through my COVID mask. as I grocery shopping.
Frankie Toler ( Allman Bros, Gregg Allman ) on drums was a powerhouse..Gregg said Frankie was the best drummer he ever heard & it shows here on this great song..R.I.P.
Rusty Milner on Guitar (had been with the band for over ten years and had previously played with The Artimus Pyle Band, He was also credited as a major song writer for the band) Frank Toler on Drums (previously and now currently with The Greg Allman Band) and Stuart Swanland on Guitar (Stuart had been in the ban for over ten years at the time of the video, Stuart would take time off but return and stay with the band until his death in 2012) Hope this helps some
this lineup did include original members Doug Gray on vocals and Jerry Eubanks on Saxophone, flute and keyboards. It now had members Ronald Radford on guitar and pedal steel (who had played with Randy Travis before and was voted touring Guitar Player of the Year for two years by the Academy of Country Music) Mark Pettey on Keyboards, Tim Lawter on Bass (who was credited as the major songwriter on the band’s CD’s in the 90’s. and had been with the band for over ten years at this time)
Drummer Frankie Toler played with The Allman Brothers band, The Gregg Allman Band from 1986-1990. Brother Frankie was a world-class drummer and both he and his brother Dangerous "Dan" Toler (guitar player) were together in the ABB during the enlightened Rouges tour..
Ridiculous they are not in the Rock Hall of Fame. I sent an e-mail to the Hall asking why one of the greatest southern rock/blues bands is not in. Actually got a response and all it said was thanks for asking. Look at the current list in the hall. Many great deserving bands. But there are dozens of bands that were entered I feel based on politics and not Music. Many of the bands can't hold a candle to these guys. For folks that read this, send an e-mail asking why they are not there through the hall website.
When Frankie ( & Danny ) played with Gregg Allman band he told me "Don't Want You No More" was recorded on the 1st take also..Great drummer & a friend..R.I.P. brother. 🍑🍄
Never seen this video. Thx for the post. You mentioned it's from the album Where We All Belong. Do you know if it was recorded from the live concert in Milwaukee and not used in the album? I ask because the studio version was used on the actual album. Thx
If you want this line up they are on the the CD's Still holdin on, Southern Spirit, walk outside the lines, Country Tucker, MT Blues, Face down in the blues and Gospel. As far as the above song not sure if it is on only of those CD's
Frankie Tolers brother was actually underrated replaced Duane in ABB played with Dickie in Great Southern and was in Greg’s solo band with Frankie. Both passed now young.
I get your point meta...It is "jazzy" and fusionish, and that's exactly one of the reasons I like it so much. Great version with killer musicians all around. I've listened to MTB since the 70s and have great respect for Toy Caldwell. BTW, I saw MTB - if you can call it that - live about 8-10 years ago. Terrible. Doug was so bad I could hardly recognize the songs.
Probably my favourite incarnation of the band, apart from that unbeatable original lineup (and I'll include Franklin Wilkie and Ronnie Godfrey in there too),but the version of MTB that has been touring for the last decade or so,are just not up to scratch, that's my personal opinion, and I've been a fan since 1973,so it always guts me to say that, but they sound like a bar band.
Terrible video but a terrific - and probably my favorite - version of this song. For MTB purists, I know this isn't the original band lineup, but this version kicks a**...
this version is great but a little too jazzy, almost like a fusion version; the best version from the original band with a smokin' Toy Caldwell guitar solo is on stompin room only live
This reminds me of the Allman Brothers sound, c. Brothers and Sisters. Some fusion; some country (ABB was fusion and blues with Duane). I don't like the way he does the lyrics here though - prefer the studio version. But the middle jam is good - wish they'd go on for 10 more minutes with it.
What a great tune. Love this.
One of the greatest Country Rock Bands of America!
This old cowboy isn't just an old fashioned man. This old cowboy is a damn cool cowboy.
This is after Toy passed but still grooving. Thank you kindly for sharing
Doug Gray , one of my favourite singers , what a great song and rendition of this song , great band !
I saw MTB in 2014 at the local fair in Merced, CA. The current musicians were excellent, the sound was basically the same, but Bless his heart, Doug's voice was gone. Yeah his voice was special
Have the original records all of them in great shape, no popcorn, hisses, love this music !!
One of my all-time favorite songs of all artists, thanks for the post!
Love it love it and always will !!!
Love this highly produced version..love it..love it..
Thank you! A really great song already, but to see them live (which I've never done) is a tremendous treat! Thank you Thank you Thank you etc.......A++++
Seeing that I was born a RIDDLE, I feel I was meant to love this band with my heart and soul
True Southern Country, then and now and always.

great dynamics...they back out and let each other shine...
'cause it ain't gonna be the first time this ol' cowboy spent the night alone!
I still do this tune in fact I got an ovation at the Super Market this morning. I was belting it out right through my COVID mask. as I grocery shopping.

Todd Davis on
Hey Todd. A few corrections. This was taped before Ronald and Mark came into the band. Mark replaced me on keyboards in the beginning of 1993.
Magistral versión de una maravillosa canción.
I gotta get on back to the Carolinas, gonna tie me up a few loose ends....

Great band!
Back to my late night groove!
I don't care when it was made, it is all good!!!
When Frankie ( & Danny ) played with Gregg Allman band he told me "Don't Want You No More" was recorded on the 1st take also..Great drummer & a friend..R.I.P. brother. 🍑🍄
So clean , so technically perfect and wow all those pieces come together so well! Thank you MTB for all the absolute amazing music 🎶 🥰🙏💥🎯
Never seen this video. Thx for the post. You mentioned it's from the album Where We All Belong. Do you know if it was recorded from the live concert in Milwaukee and not used in the album? I ask because the studio version was used on the actual album. Thx
There's magic in those chords!
45 years ago. Cannot be.
If you want this line up they are on the the CD's Still holdin on, Southern Spirit, walk outside the lines, Country Tucker, MT Blues, Face down in the blues and Gospel. As far as the above song not sure if it is on only of those CD's
None of the four live tracks we did for this video are available outside of the tape.
Guitar Magic!!
Damn, this kicks ass! Talk about a jam band, eat the Dead fans
Frankie Tolers brother was actually underrated replaced Duane in ABB played with Dickie in Great Southern and was in Greg’s solo band with Frankie. Both passed now young.
Nobody replaced Duane Allman. He filled in

NICELY-DONE >> !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s NOT The Marshall Tucker Band - it’s a cover band. RIP the man who wrote, sang, and played the song - Toy Caldwell.
1:55 As soon as I lick the lips of another woman LOL You go Doug!!
💙
Terrible video but a terrific - and probably my favorite - version of this song. For MTB purists, I know this isn't the original band lineup, but this version kicks a**...
this version is great but a little too jazzy, almost like a fusion version; the best version from the original band with a smokin' Toy Caldwell guitar solo is on stompin room only live
I like the old version better but its all good
As i sad before a cover band, only the singer exist.
He retired sometime ago!
Is this version with this band lineup available on any albums ? Does anybody know ?
It's. Long. Overdue. For. Marshall. Tucker to. Recieve. The. Nobel. Peace. Prize engineerd. By. The. Wordsmith. Toy. Caldwell. Sempre. Fidelis. Me. Gray. And. Mr. Caldwell
Is there another copy of this video that is clearer to see?
Who is in this lineup?
This reminds me of the Allman Brothers sound, c. Brothers and Sisters. Some fusion; some country (ABB was fusion and blues with Duane). I don't like the way he does the lyrics here though - prefer the studio version. But the middle jam is good - wish they'd go on for 10 more minutes with it.
What happened to Paul Riddle??
Without Paul Riddle, Toy, Tommy and George, the groove is tame in comparison.
Yeah theyve got this nailed. down tight
nice, when music was simple and good
without all the glitz n glam n high tech shit
just raw southern rock n roll
vice
sucker
Great musicians but too Holiday Inn for me.
REALLY GREAT IMPROV FROM AN AMAZING BUNCH OF MUSICIANS !!!
