It's actually cheaper to get a burger and fries from my local pizza place then it is to get mcdonalds.
All food has become unbelievably expensive.
Coupons are the key. I don't pay much more for fast food than I did 10 years ago. I get Burger King and McDonald's coupons in the mail every month with some really good deals.
But papa America told me capitalism is freedom
@@StekTM1 Yeah communism is better. Then everybody is poor and miserable. At least then we would all be equal.
i remember i could get a mcdouble and mcchicken for 2.50$... but that was 10-12 years ago
I 100% remember that 6 years ago you could absolutely get a mcdouble and mcchicken for like 3 bucks @betsyduane3461
@@betsyduane3461 not sure about the mcdouble but in 2011-2013 I could get a mcchicken for $1 it was part of the dollar menu.
The double cheeseburger was $1 like 15 years ago. Then they took a slice of cheese off and called it a mcdouble... The big mac has halved in size. You can taste the salt in everything. It's a meteoric downfall. Put out worse quality and raise prices.
In n Out has always paid the highest wages in the industry.... they are very profitable and have a high customer satisfaction rate. Wages actually don't have much affect on the price.
In n out is subpar. I was highly disappointed since I had heard so much hype about them. Their fries are absolutely disgusting.
Wages don't have much affect on the price? I was in the restaurant business for over 40 years and I can assure you, wages affect the price.
@@cosmicthespider7974 That's because the fries are REAL potatoes cut on the spot, and with sunflower oil. You're used to frozen grease sticks being fried in grease lol
@@ZeroTolerance-tk9ce Apparently not, In-N-Out prices have stayed the same, despite their wages going up. McDonalds prices have doubled
@@stevengoldThe only reason that that business, like any business, exists is to make a profit. Those profits must increase if your business is to remain viable. If it is the case that they have not increased menu prices while operating costs have certainly gone up( wages, food cost, utilities) they are making less profit than they did before. That won't continue.
2:14 I live in NYC (Queens). It’s more convenient to go to local places. Most go to the corner bodega for coffee and breakfast. We have many non-chain places that serve everything.
It's not just fast food, it's all food. Honestly, I don't think it's JUST inflation. It's post-pandemic price gouging. Prices of food understandably went up during the pandemic for logistical reasons, but they never went back down. If you look at the stock prices of any major fast food chain, their profits have grown substantially in the last 4 years.
It's interesting when you mention rewards programs. Walgreen's acquired Boot's a decade ago. They are the largest drug store (chemist) in the world. Walgreen's alys wants my phone number and they dangle that carrot in front of me for rewards.
McDonald's in the US has to be one worst. It takes you $15 worth of points racked up to redeem for a cheeseburger.
You know I do notice how much more expensive eating out has gotten. But since I went to a no salt diet many years ago I had to give up all fast food and most restaurant food because it all just taste too salty to enjoy. But otherwise I don't feel like things are that bad. This video is terrifying tho. It sounds like we are in the worst crisis this country has ever faced. I guess the super dramatic doomsday videos get all of the views these days. That's unfortunate!
They will regret raising prices as people will cook more and not favor these places as prices fall.
I went to Subway and got a foot long ham sandwich 2 small bags of chips and 1 cookie and it cost over $21 😮😮😮
They do have an app based company out of Austin TX, that operates statewide. Not sure if they're national. It's called FAVOR, and you can get anything picked up or delivered. They partner with TX based stores, HEB, VALERO GAS STATIONS, BILL MILLER BBQ, WHATABURGER, and so on.
The big fast food lobbies are paying politicians to shut down food trucks, food carts, street vendors, and other reasonably priced competition. Why can't you drive up in an orderly line to a food truck or card and get a good sandwich or coffee for half what the greedy shops charge? You can't because of local laws not allowing these vendors to do drive up business! The carts and trucks must pass food inspections and so are safe.
I see food trucks all over the place. I live in a rural town of 30,000 people though.
I'm a truck driver and my route is starting out of Jacksonville and going to Miami, Atlanta, and Charlotte. When he said the dollar stores took over. I had to think about that and became so obvious that it is exactly like that and we drivers who basically live at truck stops and service plazas have to pay even higher for fast food. No footlong from subway under $10. Saw a family of 4 each get a combo meal from Popeyes and came to $71. I make 100k a year driving and just out of principle would never pay that. I don't have a frig or microwave so rely on fast food. One way to watch weight
I try to support local businesses as much as possible, but like Mike said it's a matter of convenience. During the lockdown, so many of those local shops disappeared and the chains (especially with drive-thrus) flourished. Sad, because once those mom and pops are gone (some of the best food/products/etc), they're usually gone for good.
Well, we have absolutely no dog in this fight, although I deplore how ubiquitous so many of these chains have become, making every small town the same as the one 5 miles down the road. My husband and I don't ever go out to eat, but when we get take-out, it is always from a local shop, with one exception. We have a grocery store in the city that is part of an East Coast grocery icon, Wegman's. We don't shop there much at all, only if we're looking for a rarer ingredient, or if they advertise a good buy on some kind of meat, but they have their own food court, which include a sub shop and we love their subs. They've consistently been the best bargain, being enough for two meals for my husband and me in one $14 sandwich. The buns are huge, wide and freshly baked. Their headquartered in Syracuse, NY, I think, so I guess that makes them "local" to us in PA. ;-)
Actually, our favorite sandwiches are from a local Italian deli, and they are a good deal as well, as they are so big and so stuffed with good stuff that I can only ever eat a half a sandwich in one sitting.
judging from the internet, i wonder why in the US people always gives tip at the fast food but they rarely gives tip at street vendor even if it's cheaper.
This video isn't representative of most of the US. It is biased and incorrect, and makes unfounded assumptions. Dollar General is closing thousands of stores because they over-expanded. Fast food restaurants are making billions in profit. They didn't need to double their prices but people paid it so it will never go away. Just my humble opinion.
Theft plays a big part in the DGs closing. They spent a lot on remodeling and self checkout lanes. Can't use self checkout anymore. It sucks going there now.
Fast food restaurants are seeing profit cut in half.
Bias, incorrect and unfounded assumptions… look in the mirror.🤣
It’s representative of most of the communities around me. Towns built around a dollar general and macdonalds.
I just checked both revenue and profits for McDonald's and Wendy's for the last 4 years. The data doesn't show a huge increase in revenue or profits for either company over that period.
Total revenue by year for McDonald's was 2020 = $4.81 billion, 2021 = $5.63 billion, 2022 = $5.81 billion, 2023 = $6.25 billion. The low revenue for 2020 is probably mostly due to COVID.
Total revenue by year for Wendy's was 2020 = $1.73 billion, 2021 = $1.90 billion, 2022 = $2.10 billion, 2023 = $2.18 billion.
That is about an 11% increase in revenue over the last three years for McDonald's and 14.7% over the last three years for Wendy's. In my opinion not a huge increase, probably just keeping up with inflation. To be clear, I'm not suggesting that price gouging doesn't occur but in these two instances I don't think this data shows it.
I will also admit that this is just a simplistic review of their revenue and profits. A deeper dive into their earnings reports may show a different story.
@@DonaldHancock1653 12 billion in 2021, 13 billion in 2022, and 14 billion 2023. To be clear. Oh, an aside, 3 dollars for a small fry is gouging. have a nice day :)
Out here in america Wendy’s changes up charge prices depending on the time of day and night now it’s total bs glad I’m not a fat ass anymore and eat clean but still
Video is exaggerating a bit lol. Prices are higher for sure but theres no way its as bad as some people are saying. I travel A LOT and it seems some of the prices people are mentioning in the video or here in the comments HAVE to be in the most expensive areas to get it.... It has to be. I bought a $16 fast food burger meal outside of NYC during christmas and that was by FAR more expensive than anything i have seen before or since 🤷♂
I live in a village in a town on Cape Cod. There are several local mom and pop shops and restaurants cafes etc from American Chinese Italian and Greek with home cooking with excellent food and fresh ground coffee all within 2 miles or closer to my house. With the exception of one pizza place that is a chain restaurant. All fast food restaurants are further away than local home cooking and the local restaurants are less expensive and I’ve never had to wait more than 2 minutes longer for my food than at any fast food restaurant I’ve been to
Hi! I live in Wareham. Just moved there and I'm with you. I prefer mom and pops. They are reasonably priced and the food is great! I have a Wendy's right across the street from me. I've lived here a year and I have yet to go. There's a great pizza place near me and I go there. ✌️❤️
Does the video maker not know what capitalism is?
Surprise surprise, raising the minimum wage does nothing.
It put's more money in employee's pockets.
@@betsyduane3461 Raising the minimum wage does give workers more money to spend on goods and services. However, to cover the higher wages, businesses will increase their prices, thus changing the overall cost structure of the economy. This can lead to higher inflation, impacting not just minimum wage earners but consumers at all income levels.
It also makes employers cut hours or even reduce workers.
@@GeneFuller-tz6bb No it doesn't.
@@morpho5539 Nonsense I was a 13 state regional franchise director for 256 locations. If a few bucks more an hour is hurting you you should be in business.
LOL I think it has more to do with the raises the CEOs give themselves than the raising of the minimum age. Just saying. Also...as an American...considering or healthcare system, we could do with less fast food chains or less people eating their crappy, but delicious food. But this is not a very good video. In rural area there are A LOT of farmers markets with a variety of healthy food and, a lot of the times they will take food stamps. Also, even with a small yard, you can supplement your food by growing a small garden, raising chickens for eggs, and hooking up with local farmers to buy meat in bulk. Cutting out a lot of the processed food saves money and is healthier.
Surprise option...Wednesdays off 🤙🤙

Due to the massive increases in the prices, I have completely quit eating fast food. It is just not a fair value anymre.
chick fil a and in n out are still really cheap thankfully
I’ve never heard anyone refer to in n out or chick fil a as cheap. I’ve always heard they were some more expensive options.
@@cosmicthespider7974 no they’re most definitely extremely cheap. You can get a meal for $7 at in n out or just a cheese burger for $3.50
I like how they have a dude with some foreign accent talking about brands that are all American. Don't you Euros have your own fast food brands. I'm serious, it's all USA all the time. Other than castles, does Europe have any influence on the USA.
Airbus is going to pass, or already has passed, Boeing as the top supplier of commercial aircraft worldwide.
Make my own coffee and food. And MacDonalds have always been expensive here in Denmark. Compared to cooking a stake at home.

Moon is a great channel! Love his videos. :)
This video is way off. There’s towns where a Walmart is the only meaningful means of employment. Theres a reason chains exist, and this guy isn’t even American. There are tons and tons of local shops. Same as europe
Inflation prices (thanks to the dementia patient) have skyrocketed. Meaning small business cant compete with large chain stores
